Has anyone ever re-written the books?
« on: January 22, 2009, 09:45:06 PM »
Hey folks, I just finished my 3rd re-read of the Animorphs series and I was wondering if anyone had re-written any of the books with a more adult theme (I mean fan-fiction, of course)?

I'm still craving more Animorphs....

There's actually a fan who rewrote the ending to fit more of her style

http://members.shaw.ca/jcmlott/index.html

She rewrote both book # 53 and # 54. I personally think that it's, well, decent. But out of five, I'd give it a two and a half. Although her writing was really good and pretty similar to KA's, the conclusion itself seemed to drag on way too long and she, imo, made Cassie even more perfect than KA/Ghostwriters did in the series :P

I've re-written them in my head, but never on paper...

a lot of people have been contemplating this idea.
a more adult/mature version of animorphs would be great.

Part of the last battle took placeduring 53, so if you wanted to rewrite the ending, you'd also have to change at least part of 53.

There are tons of fan fics out there that basically re-write the last book of the series (just look it up on fanfiction.net), but the actual series itself hasn't been officially re-written. I'm pretty sure K.A had her fill writing it the first time around. :P

hah, it'd be pretty cool if we tried to do it though  :o We could get a bunch of members who were interested in rewriting the series and then select at least six or five who were really good writers and could pull off a KA writing style. That way, we'd have a re-written series :P

I have written fan fiction years ago, but the fanfics I wrote were before the series ended so back then we had to guess what the ending would be like. But I'm actually starting a new facfic, it will take a bit, I work two jobs lol. It will deal more with the relationship between humans and Andalites a decade or two after book 54. Again, the future. So, know, as much as I didn't like the ending with the Five, I never thought to rewrite it. I thought the creature with part of Ax's face was just a little weird, even for this series lol.

I'm going to check it out now, thanks. I was hoping that someone would rewrite the series in a more mature style. Does anyone know if anyone is contemplating this?

and AniJen, let us know if you decide to do it.

I'm guessing a lot of fanfic writers have tried this, although very few of the Animorphs fics I've read have contained strong adult themes. My fanfic series might get a bit darker later on, but I'm hesitant to include adult themes (eg. sex) when the characters are aged 13. If the Animorphs had started the series aged 16 (which I think they should be if they ever make a movie or better TV show) then I'd be less hesitant to use darker violence and mature scenes.

I think I might just take this up, I've got a couple of ideas. Not to mention all the stuff I read into the characters over the years, this could work... *Sits in Thinking Chair*

Where can I find you're fanfic?

Also, Jesse, I think you should go for it. What have you got to lose? I'll definetly check it out.
