"No no, I'm sure this won't be like last time." Temrash said sheepishly. "You hear about a crashed Andalite dome ship, and just naively assume the guy saying he found it actually knows the difference between a Dome Ship and an Akeelitian battle cruiser. We did, however learn some importnt things that day. Apparently Arkeelitians are twenty feet tall predators that shrug off dracon fire, and like the taste of Hork-Bajir..."

"Here are your coordinates. You will meet up with a repair ship, as I have a few other people coming as well. Give Visser 15 my best. Temrash out."

Mike watches Terenia approach him, and he stares down at her, still idly wiping an eye.

"Terenia," he says calmly, "I don't think you should be armed right now.  You're not in the right state of mind to have a weapon.  I'm sorry, I can't let you."

---

Myitt watches Ossanlin, in his Hork-Bajir body, take the messy wreck that she had experienced, living and breathing and thinking.  She had seen the girl's entire life, and now it had blinked out.

Not my fault, she thinks to herself bitterly.  Not my fault her sister is a maniac...

<No, but it's your fault she's dead,> Tara taunts.

"Shut up, shut up!" Myitt hisses aloud, glaring at the ground.  When she finally looks up, Terenia has approached Tora and Mike, who she believes to be Corliss, some distance away.

Myitt reaches for her Dracon with a start, heading towards them cautiously.

Terenia nods, as though she didn't really expect Mike to hand over the weapons anyways, "Those are Imperial issued weapons," she says hoarsely, "I need to return them intact. Please make sure that they are returned to me before I leave."

She turns halfway away, prepared to descend the ramp again, before turning back to Mike, "Thank you for your offer to join the rebellion, and send my apologies to Reven for wasting his time."

"You aren't seriously...you can't return to the Empire!" Mike stammers, stepping halfway down the ramp after her.  "Visser Three will kill you!  Terenia!"

---

Myitt, about halfway from the edge of the clearing to the Skimmer, pauses in mid-stride, Dracon drawn.

She glares at Terenia, unable to say much at first--they had created this situation.  Tamora was free...she was also dead.  What else had she, Myitt, really expected to come of this whole ordeal?

"He has a point, you know," Myitt says quietly, coldly.  "Do you really feel so guilty that you'd consider suicide?  I'd think remaining alive would be a more fitting punishment."

Tora's eyes narrow at Myitt's approach and contribution to the conversation. She steps out of the Skimmer, Dracon still in one hand and communication device in the other, bare feet arching to avoid the sharp gravel.

"Better her suicide than condemning us to live with a homicidal individual," she murmurs to Myitt, although her voice may be loud enough for Mike and Terenia to overhear. She has never had particularly apt vocal volume control, which is not helped by the fact that she simply does not care whether Terenia hears her.

"Punishment?" Terenia echoes, her eyes flitting between Myitt and Mike, "What is there to be punished for? I merely did what no one else could bring themselves to do. The Andalite brought her to me to rid himself of the responsibility. You, Myitt, you went along on his senseless quest to rescue her, disregarding what you knew it would come to. You've been inside my head. You knew what would happen."

Terenia pauses to take a breath, her gaze shifting to Mike, "Visser Three will not kill me. If he does, it would be showing me mercy, and that is something he is not capable of."

She continues her slow trudge down the ramp, pausing to glance at Tora, but not offering a comment. She is irrelevant, in the scheme of things. Efaen seems to be coming out of her state of shock, and is slowly realizing that the person controlling her has changed.

<<I do not think I wish to return to the Empire anymore,>> Efaen whispers. Terenia can sense her fear - a fear that has nothing to do with Visser Three.

That shocks Mike into silence, because he cannot deny that Terenia is right.

Tora, as well.  If there was any doubt before, Mike had to admit now that...that he and Corliss had fallen for someone who was dangerous.  To herself, and to those around her.

Mike nods.  "Fine.  If you have to leave, then leave," he says, trying to brush off how much it hurts to say it.  "Go back to the Empire.  You still don't know enough about us to damage us.  I...I'll go and tell Corliss what has happened.  I'm sure he'll understand."

With that, he turns and briskly walks toward the pool room inside the ship.

Myitt shakes her head.  "She didn't have to die," she insists.  "I've seen your mind, I've seen that you aren't the monster you think you are."  She sighs.  "Neither was she."

"Then why did the Andalite come to me?" Terenia asks Myitt, "Why did he dump her at my feet, absolving himself from responsibility? Why, if not because he knew what would happen?"

Terenia pauses, reaching the ground. She looks down at her hands, avoiding Myitt's gaze.

"I wanted to save her," she says at last, "but we all know that she was too far gone for that. She tried to have me murdered, put a bounty on the both of us. She was hell-bent on returning to the Empire, where this would have all started over again." She raises her eyes to Myitt's, giving her an even look, "Now she is free, and so am I."

Tora gives a disdainful snort and turns away to follow Mike, re-entering the Skimmer, not buying Terenia's talk. Someone who would murder one's own sister was not to be trusted in any way. Certainly, Tora had let others down. Some might even say she had betrayed comrades. But something as despicable as murdering a sibling? No. Such a person would never be fit to join the Rebellion, where trust was of paramount importance.

Watching Myitt and Terenia from back inside the ship, she puts away her comm device and Dracon, then folds her arms to give the nothlit a hard stare.

Myitt's shoulders sink.  Hadn't she, herself, thought the very same thing?  That death was the only way the girl could be free?

<I seem to recall you also considered letting her join us,> Tara sniffs.  <Good thing you nixed that one, huh?>

Myitt's lip curls into a sneer at Tara's continuous taunting.

"So now what, you'll just leave?  Fly off to the Empire and expect Visser Three to welcome you back?"  She snorts.  "He may not have the mercy to end your life and end your suffering, but I doubt he will suffer the presence of a maniac who sought to betray him.  First memory dump that comes along, do you think he'll be happy with what he sees?"  She nods at the Skimmer.

---

Mike steps into the pool room, walking over to the pool where Corliss has been swimming, blissfully ignorant of what has transpired.

Corliss appears to sense the vibration of his footfalls, swimming closer to the rim of the pool where Mike is standing.

The human fishes the Yeerk out of the sludgy gray liquid, looking down at the little sluglike creature hanging over the edges of his palm with a frown.

"Sorry, mate," he whispers, holding Corliss to his left ear.

Terenia's jaw clenches, her own eyes drawn to the Skimmer. "Visser Three knows that I have no true allegience to him. He won't be happy, but he also will not be surprised." She pauses, a hint of a crack forming in the wall she has built. "Where else would you have me go? The human is right," she gestures towards where Tora is sitting, within the Skimmer, "The rebellion has no place for the likes of me. You cannot trust me. None of you can."

<<I want my freedom,>> Efaen says, a sort of panic setting in. Something about Terenia's quiet acceptance of the situation is extremely unsettling to the Andalite. <<Leave me. Go back to the Visser in someone else. I'll defeat the Yeerks in my own way.>>

Terenia completely ignores Efaen, pushing her behind the carefully crafted wall - another useless voice in her head.

Kevlin headed down to the docking bay and climbed in his modified single person bugfighter. He called repair team to come with him. He punched in the coordinates and made the jump to Z-space. When he came out he was over a small planetoid. The first thing he noticed was the Dome ship in orbit. Dome Ship. He sent a transmission to Temrash hoping he answered before he and the repair team were toast.

"Yes, I know there's a Dome Ship in outer orbit." Temrash said when he received the message. "It belongs to a Prince staying here. They shouldn't fire on a repair vessel, though. I've noticed a few bug fighters get through a few times, so they aren't keeping a strict watch. Your sensors should pick up on my ship's signal. Follow that."

"Then go," Myitt says simply, shrugging.  "You're right.  No one can stop you.  I'm tired of unnecessary death, and I certainly won't stand in your way."  She brushes past Terenia, adding lowly, "Just stay away from my brother."

That stops Terenia. For a fraction of a second she stands there, prepared to defend her right to be with Corliss. Just as quickly as the urge comes, though, it dissipates. Her shoulders slouch and she nods, knowing that the brief stint of happiness she and Corliss experienced was inconsequential. Knowing that as soon as Corliss saw what had transpired he would, as so many others had, turn his back on her.

<<Let me go! Leave me!>> Efaen cries against the silence. Is this, she wonders, truly what it means to be an involuntary host?

"I require my weapons," Terenia says, indicating the Skimmer, "Once I have my holster returned to me I will leave."
