(When reading this, please don't think I'm trying to be difficult. I just figured that up to this point the CG has come across as rather wimpy and it seemed hard to believe that something so easily defeated would stay in charge of so many planets for so long. I wanted to bring across a character to show why the CG has lasted for nearly 200 years.
Desmond don't mess around. For some reason I picture him sounding like Grand Moff Tarkin from Star Wars. All arrogant and sure of himself. He's not used to defeat.)Desmond crossed his arms and looked unimpressed.
"I see that you assume after your attack on that facility of ours that this will be easy," he said. "I guarantee you that I am not so foolish. I take my job quite seriously, let me assure you. I did not rise to where I am today by making amateur mistakes."
It could be noticed then that a few of the soldiers hadn't moved since Silver started her attack.
"Some of my men here," said Desmond as he gestured, "are some of the top rated psi-soldiers. Your abilities are impressive, my dear, and had you not left us so soon they could have been far greater."
Desmond's focus shifted to Parker. "As for your bullets. Do not assume me to be a simpleton. Only a handful of my soldiers are living men. I assume you know by now the treatment that Fletcher underwent when he was one of our own? These men are much more advanced that that."
The group being held prisoner had remained completely silent during all of this, only glaring at the back of Desmond's head or at the ground.
"I tire of this standoff," Desmond commented.
No sooner had he made this comment than the CG ship he had come on rumbled into view from where it had been hovering. Now it was hovering overhead, much larger than Morgan's own ship was.
