((In a motel for the night. Someone has a unsecured network nearby!!! I'm a pirate! :pirate: ))

The Director backs away from the extending ramp and see's noone in the doorway to greet him. He continues to stand by the ramp and cautiously peers into the ship. With no prompts ushering him in or specifically keeping him out, he hops onto the ramp and hold onto the sides of the entrance as he leans in slowly. He scans the ship right to left and sees a girl in the corner looking as though she'd been crying. He continues scanning the insides of the ship looking for the Andalite, but since no one else was there, he assumed she was the girl. He walked up to her and plopped down beside her. He looked everywhere around the ship except for at her. He could tell she wanted to sulk alone, but she had let him in, so he let a few moments of silence pass before he said to her without looking at her, "I'm sorry."

Terenia does not protest to The Director's entrance, nor to his sitting near her, but she also does not answer him for a long time. For a moment her chest tightens and she worries that she will begin crying again.

<Cease your pitiful emotional display at once, Terenia,> Efaen snaps, beginning to tire of her. <You barely knew the Yeerk, you could not have cared for him this deeply.>

Efaen's berating is enough for Terenia to gain control over her emotions once more. She lets out a deep breath that she was unaware of holding and breaks her gaze with the display for a moment, glancing at The Director.

"I am as well," she says simply. The words come out gruffer than she means them to, but she does not attempt to clarify or apologize.

The Director still doesn't look at the girl, "If it's true, then he'll understand. Truly he will." He, of course, was referring to her feelings toward Corliss, not whether or not she was sorry for causing their shared pain, "Sometimes the greatest tests bring about the greatest results."

"It hardly matters," she says, unable to keep the bitterness out of her voice as she returns to staring at the display, "Efaen is right. Growing attached to others is a weakness. It has always been a weakness, and it has been used against me before. I should know better."

The Director nodded slowly in understanding and said, "Well, isn't that a load of ****e. Sharing your life, experiences, and secrets with other people isn't weakness. In fact it's when I have a companion with me that I find I can survive the worst of situations. Solitare can only end in madness," he points to his head and finally looks at Terenia, "believe me, I know. The voices in your head are not always your friend; whether or not they're real."

Terenia laughs hoarsely, wondering what exactly this being knows about the voices in her head. "Everyone I've cared about has either betrayed me, or I've betrayed." she says glumly, "Down to my very own flesh and blood family. Or...former flesh and blood family. Whatever. It doesn't matter." Abruptly, she changes the topic, her gaze unmoving from the computer, "Why are you here, anyways?"

As Keshin sips the drink that is eventually handed to him, he notices that Fletcher is sitting at the Bar looking very glum. <Weird. He was always kind of chipper before. Though we don't know that much about him.>

<Wonder if it's got anythin' to do with those guys?>

Keshin nods at the table full of Fletcher's associates. They do seem unusually pissed-off. Keshin wonders what happened and wonders if it might help him. Probably not, but he has no jobs to furfill and thus nothing to do.

On that note Keshin wanders towards their table and says, pointing to the Bar, "Why isn't that guy with you? Wasn't he part of the gang that came out of your universe?"

"I am a bit more worried about her than Elayne," says Mar with a disturbed look on his face. "Just because Myitt is alive doesn't necessarily mean that she is safe. Nor does a timeline fix mean that Myitt in particular is okay. We have no idea what's going on aboard that ship at all, and it makes me very nervous."

Mar nods at the comment about Ossanlin. "...I suppose it is true that my friend is there with her. Ossanlin is very strong, and seems to owe Myitt his allegiance. I was...inside his head once. I think Myitt saved him from something terrible."

The Director looked slightly confused, as though the question had never crossed his mind, "Me? I'm here because of what I said earlier. Sharing experiences and not being alone." He rests his head against the wall and looks to the ceiling of the ship and says, "My entire species is exinct. Well, apart from a few individuals; and we're the ones that're responsible. Betrayal is not a fun business, especially when it involves destroying your own kind. But exclusion is never the answer; that only leads to insanity." He lets his head fall to the right and hang. His eyes look to Terenia, "No one deserves that punishment. No one."

Terenia's laugh this time is not hoarse. It is loud and clear, as though The Director has said something truly hysterical. Her entire body shakes with the vibrations of her laughter and a few stray tears leak from the corners of her eyes.

"I think-" she gasps, hiccuping slightly as she calms herself down, "-I think you're a bit late on that bit, Mr. Director. Or haven't you been asking around?" She points to her temple sardonically, "Sanity and I parted ways a long time ago."

She pauses then, feeling as though she should say something to him about his own plight, although she does not know why she feels obligated. "I am sorry," she says offhandedly, "for your loss. Or...your people's loss as well, I suppose."

The Director lifts his head from the wall, but doesn't stop looking at Terenia. In fact his eyes emanate an intense seriousness, "No. You haven't yet experienced true insanity. I don't mean to demean what you've been through, but until you've looked deep into the heart of the Space/Time vortex, you can't even comprehend what true insanity is." When she mentions his "loss", his eyes glaze over and he peers through her as memories from centuries passed come flashing back. His eyes flash back to the present and he gives her a sideways smile saying, "Thank you." The glaze returned for a split second, but he snapped out and gave her a big wide grin, "So what d'ya say we go drink to our troubles?" He draws in close as though telling her a secret and whispers, "All your drinks'll be free."

Terenia smiles faintly, but it is a sad smile. "Thank you," she says sincerely, "but I have to stay here. I'm waiting for something that...well, something that I'm not even entirely sure will come. But if it does, I need to be the first to know. I have some unfinished business. Besides," she glances towards her hatch, and the bar beyond, "I'm pretty sure Corliss doesn't want to see the likes of me right now, and I'd rather not make his day more miserable than I have already."

"Yeah, you're probably right Elayne, the lot of them can handle themselves," says Corliss, although he looks away, still distracted by something.  Shifting his gaze up at Trey, he adds, "Myitt's me pool brother, mate.  A close associate in our rebellion, as well.  She's a bit MIA at the moment, and that makes me anxious, but I hope she'll be here soon."

The Director gives her a doubtful but disappointed look and says with a nod, "Okay." He lays his head back against the wall, with a sigh he settles in. He closes his eyes and just listens to the ship's engines. He feels the asteriod moving through space in this strange nexus. He feels its rotating and enjoys the ride. The engines of this particular ship had a strange, but beautiful hum. New engines were a rare sight and he had never seen this kind of ship before. As much as seeing the engines pleased him, listening to them was a completely different and amazing experience.

Terenia settles back as well, her eyes rapt on the display, although her mind is fixed on The Director, a nice distraction from her wallowing over Corliss. His presence also makes Efaen uncomfortable, although she does not directly say as much. Terenia can easily sense her unease.

"You don't need to babysit me, you know," Terenia says after awhile. She doesn't mean it coarsely. It's actually, oddly enough, nice to have the company. But she hardly wants him to feel obligated.

Trey nods, glad for a topic change while his blush fades, "Where is she now?"

"Hopefully?  Heading back here as we speak, and in one piece, her host and all," says Corliss.  "She went off on a couple of pretty bloody dangerous missions, which was a pretty damn fool of a thing for her to do.  As if we don't already have enough problems, she's off saving the damned universe.  But, to her credit, she picked up some cans of cabbage and plenty of cigs and chocolate cereal to keep the masses at ease for the next month or so.  That was earlier, the shopping.  Or was it a few days ago?  Can't bloody reckon..."
