"No!" Trey cries, "I don't...maybe...maybe you shouldn't go back to Earth, you know? I mean, it could be dangerous and...stuff..." he peters off awkwardly, face flushing.

--

Terenia's main eyes widen slightly as she notices a ship where she was sure she had not seen one before.

<Odd...> she murmurs, but chooses not to address the issue. Her mind is still on the transmission; wondering whether or not she had made a huge mistake.

<I suppose I did not expect to see a Bug Fighter,> Terenia explains, <you are not a Yeerk, are you?> She had not gotten the impression that this man was a Yeerk, but she could have been mistaken. In fact, it was very possible that this friendly, overly helpful man was just some well-concocted plot to collect the bounty on her head. Terenia shifts her bag slightly, resting one hand casually on her Dracon holster.

Elayne looked up at Trey in surprise, but then she began to shake her head slowly, feeling cold dread creep into her stomach. He thinks so too, she realized. "No," she whispered. She looked down at her abdomen at feeling a strange pressure there, and realized her hands were holding it rather tightly. "I don't want to be the one responsible for all this." So you'd rather be the one responsible for wiping him out of existence? a voice echoed nastily in her mind.

The Director gives a confused look and looks at the ship, "A 'Bug Fighter', is that what it's called?" He equalizes his face and shows pride once more, "Nonono, I'm not a 'Yeerk' and I am trying to help." he nods to Terenia's motion towards her gun, "Look, you see a Bug Fighter, yeah? Well how many Bug Fighters have double doors you open with a key, 'eh?" He holds up a small golden key and wiggles it a bit.

((Oy...just a little Whovian nitpick, Parker, but the perception filter and the chameleon circuit (IF it's working correctly) would make the Bug fighter camouflage look exactly like a normal Bug fighter...no double Police Box doors >.<  Sorry!  I'm such a nerd...carry on...))

Corliss looks up at Trey as he cries out.  He squints quizzically at the boy, then shifts his gaze to Elayne.

<It appears he is attached to her,> Corliss says thoughtfully.  <I suppose she's shown him the only kindness he's had since...>

<Yeah, or they could be from the same timeline, and she ends up doing this to him,> says Mike dully.  <I reckon I should write a book.  'Why Not to Play Games With Time'.>

((Yeah, I know, but as the other chameleon circuit was damaged, this one has a glitch. It won't lose the double door effect. The Director doesn't feel the need to fix it as the perception filter would divert anyone from really looking too close. Thanks for keeping an eye out. ))

((Sorry for the delay guys. Though you seem to be doing fine on your own.  :D I'm just sooo lazy now that school's over. ))

Keshin rolls his eyes at Corliss. "Nice to know that I'm just the most popular guy in town. Say..." Keshin looks around the room and blinks in confusion. "...where's that Terenia chick? She said that she was going to be stuck here for a while. Something went wrong. So why's she skulking off around the Bar again?"

Keshin shrugs. "Guess it's none of my business. Though this conversation doesn't look to be a barrel of laughs either. Time's getting screwy once more?"

Mar looks from Trey to Elayne, frowning. He then stands up abruptly and bends over, leaning over Elayne's shoulder. "My dear, whatever may have happened in this boy's future cannot be your fault. You are not the...sort of person who causes such damage."

Mar states coldly, glancing at Trey, "I should hope that you two are not from the same timeline after all, in any case."

Elayne drew her bottom lip back and pinched it lightly between her teeth. Mar's words sounded empty to her now that she suspected she had caused such misery. Still, she reasoned, Mar was trying to help. Drawing a hand away from her stomach, she reached up towards his face as he leaned down, aiming for his cheek. By the time her hand was high enough, however, he had already moved to speak to Trey in a voice so different from the soft tone he used with her that she flinched.

Corliss is about to say something scathing to Keshin, when he notices with a start that Terenia really is gone.

"'ey, you're right, where did Terenia run off to?" he says, turning to look at the doorway.  He stands up and walks over to one of the grimy windows, peering out.  This doesn't do much good, and he shrugs, walking over to the door and pushing it open.  The breeze outside is a welcome change from the stale air in the bar.  Corliss looks left and right but he can't see anything beyond the rusting hulks of old dead ships at the front of the bar.

He looks back at the others inside the bar.  "I don't trust her farther than I can throw 'er.  Someone check the bathrooms, I'll go see if she's at her ship."

Corliss steps outside and weaves through the ship graveyard without too much urgency.  Surely she couldn't have gotten far.  She wasn't stupid enough to try and escape.

"What is a bathroom?" Belzar asked. He knew which door she had left out of, so he went through there. Corliss was also going outside, so he followed him. "Why do you need to keep a close eye on her if she can't leave anyway?"

((Chad, uh...this defeats the purpose of my character taking his time walking over there, if Belzar just bounds outside, speeds past Corliss and starts asking questions...))

Corliss looks over, and then up, at the hulking robot, his mouth slack in surprise.  "Erh...well, just because she can't leave, doesn't mean she should be out of our surveillance.  That ship of hers has powerful Dracon cannon, not to mention a communications array."  He shakes his head.  "I reckon I just want to talk to her, help explain that my mad sibling isn't off trying to ruin her life.  She's trying to help her."

He glances up at Belzar again as they walk along the shipyard.  "What are you, anyway?  I've never seen a sentient robot before.  Not like you.  You look like you were built for war."

"I am a soldier, so I guess you could say I was built for war. Fortunately when sentience was granted to my people it gave me the power to choose how to live my life. May I ask you about your people? Such as the relationship between your people and your hosts?"

Corliss laughs.  "That depends entirely on whom you ask.  My people's government believes we have the right to take involuntary hosts, and to spread across the galaxy as other races are free to.  My friends and I are members of an organization that seeks to overthrow this government, and to build a stable future for all Yeerks and our host species."  A look of disgust crosses his face.  "We can't go on conquering and enslaving forever.  Eventually we will need to stunt our rapid population growth, and allow a more symbiotic relationship to develop with those few who choose to cooperate with our species."  He sighs.  "It's pretty much mad, yeah, but right now there's no other feasible choice...except returning to our homeworld, to our home pools, forever blind and helpless after having...all this."  He waves an arm around at the rusted hulks of ships, at the green and maroon trees, the sounds of strange animals chittering somewhere not far off.
