((Okay, since the bar is being so slow while people are on side missions I'm going to introduce a new character who will likely, but maybe not, be temporary. :) ))

The relative silence of the bar is interrupted as the door swings open wide enough to hit the wall with a loud, unsettling bang. A figure stumbles in, grasping at a nearby table to catch his balance. His shaky fingers miss the wood, and he topples to the floor with a human-like cry of pain. Once he hits the ground, he does not move to get up again, but instead lies there partially conscious and shaking. A close observer would be able to notice a dark red stain that dominated the left calf of his khaki one-piece jumpsuit. An even closer observer would be able to see small scratches all up and down his hands and face, the only skin that was exposed, as though he had gotten into a war with a cat and lost. The result was a mess of dried blood that made his features almost indistinguishable, save dark brown eyes that stared upward in relative agony.

(Sorry I don't have much interesting to do with Belzar. I didn't have any specific plans for him.)

((It's all good. Belzar's a good character. I just think that there aren't enough characters around to have much conflict. We need to step things up a notch or risk the bar going into a coma.

btw, Tara, is Corliss ever coming back? :P ))

((Chad, Jessi is right--Belzar is great! Unfortunately, Terenia was the only active character who could or would really interact with him. Thanks for introducing new characters, Jessi and Hunter. Hopefully everyone will return to the Bar soon.))

When the door swung open for a fourth time, Elayne almost didn't bother to turn to look, but when she didn't hear accompanying footsteps, curiosity got the better of her and she swiveled in her chair. If the figure's bent posture had not been enough to indicate his distress, the blood was more than obvious. Chair legs scraping the floor, she hurriedly pushed back from the table where she was sitting with Mar and rushed to the door, kneeling by the newcomer. She put a hand on his shoulder, her eyes wide. "Can you stand?" She looked back at the other patrons and called, "Someone help me move him to a chair!"

When the first man enters, Keshin glances toward him with slight interest. <Finally. This Bar's been in an utter dead zone since they left to take care of that problem we started.>

<And now you're wishin' we hadn' done that.>

<Definitely. It's been nothing but a pain in the ass. ........hmm, weird Marine guy. Maybe he'll be fun to talk to.>

But before Keshin gets the chance to take any action at all, the wounded man with the scratched up face appears and Elayne calls out her request. Keshin looks to Elayne, nods, and walks towards the man, attempting to help him up onto a chair with the indication that Elayne will help. "Damn, what the hell happened to this guy? He looks like he got into a row with a Hork-Bajir."
*******************************************************************************************************************
As soon as Elayne stands up, Mar does as well and blinks, looking over at the wounded man who has appeared. Hmm. He's in some sort of trouble. Still, I don't see why Elayne got up. Someone else would have gotten to the idiot regardless, and for all she knows his trouble might bleed out on her. Compassion has this nasty habit of getting you involved in other people's problems.

Mar nods as Keshin proceeds to help Elayne and watches calmly as the proceedings go on. "If you need my assistance Elayne, simply ask."

The wounded man's eyes are unfocused, but one hand grasps for Elayne's shirt as she leans down to help him. He pulls her close, and tries to speak in a strained voice. At first, nothing comes out of his blood-caked lips. He takes a deep, shuddering breath and tries again, this time succeeding in a dull rasp.

"Treyliss..." he breathed, his voice catching on the 's' sound so that he sounded like a snake hissing, "...Treyliss...ship. ..outside....please ..."

At that, the man's hand slackened and the pain fled his unfocused eyes as his body stilled.

((Right, so, I lied. This is not the character I'm introducing. :D You have to find him.))

Elayne nodded gratefully to Keshin as he moved to help her get the severely wounded man into the closest chair. "No idea," she murmured to him.

Momentarily, her attention was diverted by Mar as he spoke to her. She opened her mouth to respond, but then she felt something tug on the front of her shirt. It was the injured man. He was trying to tell her something, she realized, and leaned in close to hear him, putting a hand on his shoulder to help support his broken body.

Treyliss...? she thought. Is that a name? She waited for him to say more, but then he fell silent, his hand losing its grip on her clothes. She remained hunched over him a moment, and then gave a long sigh. "I'll take care of it," she whispered to him, even though she knew he couldn't hear her, before straightening.

Looking to Keshin and Mar, she murmured, "I'm going to his ship. If you want to accompany me... I wouldn't mind the backup." Her hand unconsciously drifting to her Dracon at her waist, she turned to the door, not waiting for confirmation from either of them.

"Looks like someone else needing repair." Belzar said, becoming nervous that the tentacle creature might show up. "I don't suppose anyone has a lifeform repair facility around here either. It is ok friend. We will have you fixed." The Human didn't say anything, and Belzar didn't realise he was dead. "I will accompany you, Elayne. Whatever is on the ship would probably be more entertaining than ground tentacles." He said as he began walking outside.

The scenery outside has not changed much, except for what can only be the dead man's ship. It is far enough away from the bar that the patrons may not have heard it land, but it had been set down with such a lack of grace that it is a wonder it did not wake the entire planetoid. The ship looks like a strange fusion of Yeerkish, Andalite and human technology. It is a dull gray in color, and sports a number of dents and burn marks. The landing gear is down, but was unable to fully engage. In fact, it looks as though the ship landed at an angle and, as a result, one of the stubby wings drove itself into the ground, creating a deep crevice. The ship is listing towards the right side, resting on its wing. The left side landing gear is useless, the ship tilted too far for it to touch the ground.

The left side hatch is open, although there is no discernible way to climb up or down as there is no ramp or even a primitive ladder. If anyone exited that way, it must have been by simply falling out.

At hearing a strange chirping sound, Elayne glanced behind her to see Belzar following her out of the Bar. She still could not understand his speech, but she gathered he was trying to help her, or at least following her out of curiosity, not any malevolent intent. "That must be the ship," she murmured to herself as she turned back around and saw the craft that seemed lodged at a sickening angle. It reminded her not a little of her own ungraceful landing, and she knew this is similar to what her ship would have looked like had she been just a little less lucky. In fact, the ship didn't look too terribly dissimilar to hers, either--it was clearly an amalgam of Yeerkish and human technology, but seemed to also draw inspiration from Andalite components.

As she approached the ship, she drew her Dracon and held it warily ahead of her. "Damn," she whispered when she saw how high the hatch was from the ground. Maybe Belzar can give me a lift up there, she thought, wondering if he was in any shape to do so.

((whoops, forgot to post a reaction from Terenia :) ))

Terenia's uneasy stupor was broken by the sudden entrance of what appeared to be a dying human. She watched with a sort of detatched interest as Elayne went to help him and ultimately failed. She then left the bar, leaving the dead man on the floor in a growing pool of partially coagulated blood.

<Well, that's lovely,> she muttered internally, <Now we're leaving corpses on the floor. This place just gets better and better>

She waited to see if Efaen would raise a protest, insisting that Terenia help deal with the dead man. When she said nothing, Terenia smirked and turned back towards the bar.
<Of course. He was not Andalite, so his death isn't important to you.>
Terenia laughed softly and gestured the rather stony looking bartender over. "Another beer, please."

Keshin helps the wounded man onto the chair and notices that he's whispered something to Elayne. Try as he might, he can't quite make it out. But whatever it was Elayne heard it, as she's now saying that she's going to go out towards the ship. Keshin then shakes his head. <We can't afford to get involved in another incident while the hunting party's away.>

<You sure, Kess? She might need our firepower if somethin' goes wrong out there.>

<It isn't our business. The guy is already dead and off our radar. What happens to Elayne will be up to her.>

<.....you sure?>

<Definitely sure.>

Keshin shrugs and walks away from Elayne, sighting Terenia at the Bar but for the moment is more interested in the odd Marine. Due to the odd little problem that occurred after he entered, they know nothing at all about him. Keshin walks over in his direction and shrugs, glancing at him.

"Hey," Keshin states. "Looks like you came in to see a bit of chaos. Where're you from, anyway?"
*****************************************************************************************************
Mar takes Elayne's statement as a plea for help after the strange fellow dies and wanders outside with her. Considering the man is already dead, Mar has no idea why they need to go through his stuff. Oh well. He said something to Elayne and that apparently involves us. Let's find out what he wants. Though I probably shouldn't leave him waiting.... Mar glances back at the Bar, where he clearly saw the man's essence standing over the empty shell of his body. The area is calling him. Mar then shakes his head. It isn't my problem. Someone else will show up to pick him up. I'm in no position to do it in this avatar.

Mar turns out to have been right and the man's soul departs quickly, assuming that Elayne will finish whatever job he has left them. Mar then stares up at the odd patchwork ship and at the odd hatch. Strange ship. Utterly nonfunctional. But I think I can help here. Mar then smirks and closes his eyes, lifting himself off the ground. He turns to Elayne and states, "I learned this trick some time ago, to assist when there was trouble at the Bar. It is not much but it should get me up there so I may lower the way inside. If there is one..."

Elayne glanced to Mar as she heard his voice, then when she saw that his feet had left the ground and didn't appear to need to return to it, she turned to face him fully, her eyes widening. "You're just full of surprises," she remarked and then added a belated, "Thanks." Once she ceased her ogling, she looked back up to the hatch. "Do you see anyone in there?" she asked Mar, still gripping her Dracon. "The man said 'Treyliss.' Sounds like a name to me."

The inside of the ship. If Mae were to peer inside, was a dark mess of loose wiring and twisted metal. Clearly the craft had seen better days. The power is out, but the occassional shower of sparks illuminates the cabin in an eerie blue light. Various indistinct lumps can be seen that could be boxes or could be bodies.

"Please allow me to enter first." Belzar said, half aware that not everyone could even understand him. He walked up to the hatch and grabbed the bottom with his hands. Fortunately he was not likely to pull something out by straining himself, and lifted himself high enough to get his front legs inside. He decided to do a quick scan before letting the others in.

(Okay just let me know what Belzar sees before I post next.)
