Lucan wondered why Priton required space, but did not feel like inquiring further. “My ship The Koltan has enough room for us plus cargo storage. It is a custom-built cargo fighter that was very useful on my smuggling missions. Whatever your cargo is Priton The Koltan can carry it.”

Keshin sighs, nodding at Terenia as he attempts to support Belzar. This isn't as easy as it sounds. Belzar as it turns out weighs a ton, and Joanne's body really wasn't built for brute strength. Keshin winces as he attempts to help Belzar support his weight.

<Uhm, Kess. Look...I can shoot down two guys real fast. But my body ain't built for heavy liftin', just runnin'!>

<I know. But if Terenia tried to lift this freak, she'd break her back. And nobody else is here.>

<Don't come cryin' to me when he falls on us.>

<You'll be the one crying if that happens.>

Keshin rolls his eyes and then states, "Okay Belzar, let's haul ass to the Bar." <This is turning out to be the worst trip to the place I've ever had. First I get shot, then I get knocked out by Myitt, and now I'm dragging around a two-ton robot.>

<Don't forget me. An' I'm startin' to think all our Space Bar trips end like this. Besides, it isn' as bad as that one time with th' lobsters.>

<Never again. Ever.>

Mar nods quietly, drumming his fingers on the table with a brooding expression on his face. "I suppose that's true. Perhaps there are things about the massive eyeball that I just don't know. All Highest of any type can be very different from one another. Still, I can't help but be a little curious."

Mar then glances at her oddly. "...so in your time there is no religious belief at all? I was under the impression that Belief was a necessary aspect of human life." Mar then chuckles darkly. "Rather complicates things for the Highest that operate in your universe, I'm guessing."

Elayne frowned at his question. "No, I wouldn't say that at all," she shook her head. "There are plenty of humans who believe in higher powers, and there are plenty of religions surrounding them. But in my country, it's often considered ignorant, old-fashioned, or foolish. Science and technology are what people really believe now, especially after the recent technological boom." She cupped her chin in her hands, her elbows propped up on the table, leaning towards him with interest. "So do you know the Highest who has jurisdiction there? I'm curious as to what he's like... and if any of the world's religions have it right," she grinned.

Priton didn't answer for a long time. Finally, he nodded. "All right. We'll take your ship to Earth."

<Really?> If she'd been able to at that moment, Priton imagined Genie would have been bouncing up and down. She sounded as excited as a little kid.

Priton smiled, despite himself. <Really.>

Belzar did another scan, and considered it possile that there was another lifeform inside their brains. Or maybe just wrapped around the outside. "I suppose it is possible, though I am unfamiliar with lifeforms."

Finally they made it to the door of the bar, and got inside. He managed to get inside and away from the doorway before deciding he needed to sit down. "I believe it best if I sit down somewhere before I fall. Perhaps if you communicate my problem for me, things will go faster."

<Yes, of course,> Terenia leaves Belzar's side reluctantly, despite the fact that Keshin has done most of the heavy lifting. She approaches the bar, feeling a bit obvious after being so incognito moments before. The bartender does not seem to care about her precarious situation, though. He merely raises an eyebrow upon her approach.

<Um...yeah, we've got a busted up robot back there,> she jerks her thumb toward Belzar, <seeing as you've got just about everything in the universe squeezed back behind that table, I was wondering if you could fix him up?>

She waits a moment while the bartender stares at her.

<Yes? No?> Terenia rolls all four eyes and addresses the bar at large, <hey, anyone here a mechanic or otherwise good with machines?>

Lucan smiled and said, "Very well if you will follow me we will go to my ship." He stood and started toward the door thinking, This will be an interesting adventure. When he got to the door he opened it and turned back toward Genie. “Shall we?” he asked while holding the door open.

Priton paused to pay the bartender before standing up and following Lucan. "Let's see this ship of yours, then."

Keshin throws up his hands in the air. "Well, looks like the Bartender's not going to save our asses this time. Hey, Terenia and me found this robot guy out back. He's sentient and he needs some help. Like she said, we need someone who can fix robots and any parts you've got. And seriously, I don't have all day!"

Keshin then smacks his forehead, looking around the room. "With half the gang out fixing Elayne's mess, I doubt we'll find anyone in this place that can help us. Maybe if we rummage around in the back of the Bar we'll find what we need."

<We'll be lucky to find one screwdriver.>

<Oh shut it Joanne, I'm trying to be optimistic. And hopefully hurry this along.>

Mar laughs good-naturedly. "You could say that they all have it right, although each only carries fragments of the truth and has misinterpreted these fragments greatly over the years. At least if your Light side Highest are anything at all like those that I have known.  I do not know the dominant Highest there personally, although your universe bears similarities to my first home."

Mar rolls his eyes, moving his hand up and down as if to indicate that they never shut up. "They’re typically very benevolent but utterly self-righteous entities or groups, concerned with ideals and dreams rather than what Reality often holds.  They are devoted to you pathetic mortals and can seemingly accept any wrong done to them which is accounted for. And even sometimes ones that aren’t.

Mar glances off. “I personally think they’re all naive. It’s true that my Father  has managed to prove His point more than once, and other Light side Highest have done the same. But I have proven my own points as well.  And mortals, when given the chance, will choose often to be selfish rather than altruistic.”

"That much is true," Elayne gave a sad smile in response to his final statement.  "But that would explain why most of our world's religions encourage many of the same values."

She gave a small laugh. "You know, no one would believe me if I told them about all this. They'd say that something between my jarring landing, the time travel, and the liquor, I must've lost touch with all reality, because there's no way I could have met an iteration of a god who can confirm the existence of our universe's god."

She was about to say more when she heard Terenia's thought-speech. Scraping the legs of her chair across the floor to turn and face the door, she looked at Terenia, Keshin, and a pitifully damaged robot. Her hand slid up into the air. "I'm a mechanic, although I'm not sure I've dealt with anything with that level of precision before."

Keshin shrugs, attempting to smile at Elayne. "Hey, better somebody than nobody. I can only just barely keep my Bug fighter in shape, so I don't think I'd be able to fix any kind of robot. And Myitt just isn't here, but I would have called on her."

"He's sitting over there," states Keshin, pointing in the robot's general direction. "I have somewhere I need to be pretty soon, but we want to see if this guy's okay. I found Terenia wandering around outside the Bar doing god-knows-what, which is about when we ran into this guy. Though I don't really know what he's saying. Joanne's translator has been broken for about a year."
*****************************************************************************************************
Mar glances over in Elayne's general direction and waits for her to be finished with whatever she's doing. Judging by the broken machine sitting in the seat and her comment, he's guessing it has to do with the robot. Mar has never been fond of sudden interruptions, and he doesn't see what all the fuss is about. The robot can take care of itself.

As for Elayne...it saddens him somewhat that she comes from such an empty, secular reality. Although a number have places he has been have taken a similar approach, they do not sound nearly as severe as what has happened in Elayne's country. He imagines that it would be harder to function there than in other places due to the lack of Influence he would have and thus a lack of portable mass.

He also rather enjoys the presumption that he is a God. A strong Dark side Highest, yes. But there are a surprising number of these, just as there are many Light side Highest. ...though I suppose Elayne and I have rather different ideas about what a God would be. And I have acknowledged from time to time that this is what a mortal would see. From her perspective...we would be a multitude of gods, each able to shape Reality. ...I wonder if I will meet Elayne's soul again when I at last am a Source point for Highest on my own level. And if I will be able to speak to her in a normal way at all.

Belzar remained seated and quiet, trying to run scans on himself to assess all damage. He knew he was beginning to shut down, but maybe his people would come for him and retrieve his memory core. If they could do that, they could build him a new body. hopefully his core was still fully functional, but the damage may reach and damage it. He was hesitant to show his core to an unkown entity, but hopefully she would be able to fix him.

The floor of the bar trembles faintly, and a viscous, black liquid starts to bubble up from between the cracks in the floorboards.

Glasses and bottles behind the bar clink together as the small earthquake--or whatever it is--manifests itself into physical form.  The black liquid hisses and sizzles, black smoke rising from the ground in tendrils.  It weaves itself around Belzar's mechanical body, sinking between the metal chinks in Belzar's form.  A strange, cackling snarl echoes throughout the rafters.

The bartender stands behind the bar, slowly and methodically drying a glass, and staring out one of the grimy windows across the room.

Elayne stood from the table where she had been sitting with Mar and put a hand on his shoulder as she passed. She did not want him to think she had forgotten their conversation, and she hoped he would understand the distraction. After all, she had been helped enough today; it was her turn to try to repair someone else's life, if possible.

"Thanks, Keshin," she said as she approached Belzar curiously. "By the way, I've had a pretty wild day thanks to you," she added over her shoulder with a smirk as she began inspecting the robot's basic structure.

"Which functions do you consider most important," she addressed Belzar, "...that is, if I can only restore some of them?" She reached into the back pocket on her tool belt and removed a set of small pliers that were designed for finer work than most spacecraft engines required. They were shiny silver and had obviously not been used as much as the battered wrenches in the front of her belt.

Just before Elayne was about to set to work, the floorboards started shaking, and a black ooze started to emerge from between them. Jumping back, she clutched the pliers with wide eyes as she watched the strange substance envelop the robot. "The hell is that?" she blurted.

Keshin laughs dryly as he hears Elayne's comment. "Yep, that's our job. Static Shock: here to get paid for ruining the lives of complete strangers. But then again what else is new? Even though it's likely to go pretty badly for us, I'll still give you the ride you wanted when you need to leave."

Keshin then watches quietly as Elayne gets out her tools, but his eyes widen as soon as he sees the bizarre black ooze. Joanne quickly snaps into place and backs away from the stuff, instinctively clutching her Dracon despite knowing that it is busted. An odd crackling sound fills the air nearby her (similar to loud static electricity), but slowly dissipates. "What in the hell is that bloody thing?! Get ready for anythin'!" she cries.
*****************************************************************************************************
Mar looks up at Elayne's touch and smiles. It's clear that she hasn't forgotten about him now. Such a kind young lady. Despite her unfortunate lapse in judgment earlier, she always takes others into account. Mar then relaxes as Elayne prepares to fix the robot but frowns deeply upon seeing the dark, acid-like liquid, standing up. Dark Matter. I've seen this before....!

Mar then immediately darts in front of Elayne quite quickly, looking unusually protective. As if he expects something to happen. He then states in a clear and cold voice, "It's the Bartender, or perhaps the building itself. Last time this happened it saved a life...and killed Myitt. I will not allow it to wound you like the machine is wounded now."
