"Sounds believable enough," Issid shrugged then smirked a little. "Well, she doesn't like me much, and I haven't given her too many opportunities to express herself since I infested her seven years ago. She'd probably do about anything to get me out of her head. But digging through what I can of the other Elayne's memories... she's not the sweetest thing ever, despite what you might think. You might think she's an intriguing creature, but she's a pain, honestly."

Mar laughs callously. "I don't think you even know what a pain is. I once knew a version of my Precious who was stunning in every possible way...except in her heart." Mar rubs his hand along his forehead, pacing the room. "She whined every second of every day, caused trouble for everyone except her doting father, and treated me like I was her servant or something." Mar clenches his fists. "Compared to that disaster, Elayne is practically an angel from heaven."

Mar turns toward Issid curiously. "...and why haven't you allowed her a little freedom? If you told her how to behave, it would have caused no harm. She may have even become more amiable and been less difficult for you to handle. Must you Yeerks always force your own superiority rather than allowing it to trickle in carefully?"

Issid gave a derisive laugh. "Shame your higher form doesn't care about Elayne. Sounds like you're at least not irritated with her. Congratulations; that's more than I can manage. Truly, though, I wouldn't hold her in such high esteem. She's hardly perfect."

Then she shook her head. "The animosity Elayne holds for me lies deeper than any kind of repression I forced on her. I don't entirely blame her for it, but I would have thought she'd have gotten over it by now."

Elayne gave a dark laugh. <Are you going to tell him what you did to me, Issid? Considering his twisted sense of morality that is enough to allow him to like me, that'd be enough to make him like you, too. Maybe he won't consume your soul after all.>

Issid gave a shiver, and then tuned out her host's thoughts as well as she could.

(A Yeerk can't really block a host's thoughts, you know. Just a little nitpick. I can't really do anything until Myitt posts or something.)

Mar frowns. He then folds his arms behind his back and bends over very slightly. "What...exactly...did you do to Elayne that would make her hate you, then? It can hardly be mere involuntary infestation. I have no idea what happened in your timeline, Issid. But I would certainly like to know what you might have done to hurt my sweet Elayne." Mar snarls a bit during this last comment.

Mar then rights himself and turns away from Elayne and Issid. "...I suppose I should get this over with, and we should begin to piece things together. But I want my answer first. And we've been standing in this hallway some time." Mar glances around him, as if noting the hallway. He seems much more accustomed to the difficult aura surrounding Elayne now. "...shall we move into the Bar proper?"

Ossanlin trots back up the ramp on the Mirage and into the ****pit.  <Is the ship ready Warrior?>  Ossanlin directs his main eyes to Claxter, his stalk-eyes scanning the displays.  <As Myitt mentioned, we do need to go...>  He smiles over at Myitt.  <I had thought you were well-versed in all andalite technology Myitt.>  Ossanlin chuckles good-naturedly and sends a wide-band tought-speech...the equivalent of a shout that can easily be heard in the bar.

<Aliciania, please return to the Mirage, we are ready to take off for Earth.  Terenia, I believe you can hear me.  I do hope you're planning on meeting Zorish when he calls...the intel has already been fed to him, and Myitt's friend will be setting up the sting.  If you don't show up and he finds out the cube is fake, he'll know who to blame won't he?  I doubt Visser 3 would be terribly pleased, or maybe he would be exquisitely pleased given his twisted, sick nature...when Zorish tells him you fed him some false information, almost certainly in the hope of freeing your sister.  Perhaps it would just be better to capture Zorish without you and starve him out ourselves...>

Ossanlin cringed a bit to himself and felt a little sick...he didn't normally use threats of this manner and he was trying to develop trust with Terenia, but threats and violence seemed to be the only things she responded to.  He looks over at Myitt again and directs a private thought-speech her way... <<I hate doing that to the poor girl but I think it's necessary.  She responds to nothing else, and I won't have your friend captured or killed for nothing.  If it comes down to it, we'll have to execute the ambush without Terenia if Zorish comes to collect the cube anyway.>>

<The ship is ready for takeoff sir. I will close the ramp and begin liftoff procedure when Alinciana comes in with anyone she may or may not have with her. Perhaps Elayne will join us too.>

Issid's eyes narrowed as she watched him. She could not fathom why a being like him would care for a mere human, much less one as misguided and weak as her host. For whatever reason, however, it seemed clear that he was as much attached to the Elayne of her own timeline as to the other. Although she did not relish the idea of angering Mar further, she had the distinct feeling he would know exactly when she was lying to him.

She nodded and turned to walk into the main seating area of the Bar, her head swiveling towards the source of the broadcasted thought-speak announcement. "I suppose they'll be leaving soon," she murmured as she sank into a chair. Good, she thought, so long as they don't take all the portable Kandrona with them. Surely there's another around here somewhere.

Looking to Mar, she began her story. "As you know, Elayne loved her father--or rather, the Yeerk who infested her father, Essam. The feeling was mutual; when he moved with his host's daughter to California near the end of the war, it was a miracle if he could shut up about her for ten minutes. Most of our colleagues ignored his prattling, but I saw something useful in the prospect of an intelligent mechanic for a host--albeit one not used to advanced Yeerk technology, but one still capable of learning."

She sighed and leaned against the back of her chair. "One evening while Essam was feeding, a friend of mine infested his host instead and took me to Elayne's house, where we used her trust for her father's Yeerk to infest her against her will."

Issid gave a bland shrug. "How could I have forseen that the pool in which Essam was stranded would be boiled by the so-called Andalite Bandits that night, the night they were captured and found to be humans--the night the war for Earth began its ending?"

There was a beat after Issid finished speaking, and then Elayne said to her in a quiet voice that was brimming with loathing. <Could it be any less clear why I haven't forgiven you yet? You show no remorse whatsoever. This isn't some tough-guy act; you just don't give a damn.>

Terenia, as she is in fly morph, does not physically react to Ossanlin's sudden thoughts in her mind. Still, she feels some sort of ghost-like nausea as his words sink in.

<<See?>> she comments to Efaen, <<he threatens me to ensure that I act how he want's me to. How many times must I show you that all Andalites are the same.>>

In open thought-speak she responds to Ossanlin, knowing that it is perhaps a foolish move, but at the same time wanting to put her two cents into the situation.

<I am not coming, Andalite,> she says coldly, <you are going to Elayne's Earth, and by inviting me along are taking on the vast assumption that I am from the same universe as her and that Zorish exists in that Earth as he does in mine. I personally have reason to believe that Elayne and I are from different Earth's. My presence could ruin everything.>

<<Yes, you are doing this all for the good of them. So selfless.>> Efaen says bitterly. Terenia ignores her, sensing that the only reason Efaen is so angry is because she wants to be with Claxter.

<Go without me,> Terenia continues, <if Zorish makes contact I will have to manage as best I can without you. Don't worry, I'm going to try everything I can to make this work. If I have to do it alone, that's all the better. At least I won't be risking your lives as well. Good luck fixing the time stream.>

<<I do not care how long I am a slave of yours,>> Efaen says, <<I will never understand humans. You are a foolish race that thrives on putting yourselves in situations with ridiculously impossible odds, yet you pretend to care for those who you may or may not be required to sacrifice along the way.>>

Myitt smirks at Ossanlin.  "Ask me about the optical schematics of almost any ship in a Yeerk fleet, and I'd oblige, but it's not every day I get to play with Andalite tech, you know," she says dryly, standing at the weapons station and setting down her backpack.

She kneels down and replaces the half-finished makeshift Escafil device with the box of Wheaties, and stands up, handing the metal box to Ossanlin.  "I didn't forget our other little side project.  See what you can do with this, and let me know if I can help."  Myitt tilts her head a bit.  "Hmm.  As for Zorish, I think if he wants Terenia to come with him, he will come and retrieve her, himself.  Perhaps it is best that she remain here."  Picking up her comm link, she adds, "I just hope Matthew treads carefully through all this.  If Zorish is as much of a hot-head as his boss..."  Myitt shrugs faintly.  "Anyway.  Shall I take the shredders?"

Claxter felt like saying something, but then kind of slumped his shoulders in defeat. what could he do besides try to find her and drag her into the ship? Something that would waste precious time that they really didn't have. He found he didn't really care about the Humans anymore. Before hand it felt kind of noble saving the aliens as well as Efaen, but how could be bring himself to care about Terenia and a voluntary controller of an Imperial. Tara was voluntary, but at least Myitt opposed the Empire. Myitt seemed to have dropped the conversation about sports, so he dropped it too.

Keshin shrugs...and then promptly smacks his forehead. His voice has now lowered to a whisper. "Damn you're one stupid dapsen of a chick! Alright, look. We're going to leave, but if we're going to pull that off you cannot say a word until we get onboard and we're out of this dump. Otherwise the entire rebel gang'll be onto us faster than you can say 'Hey.' Okay? Got it? Good. Keep following me."

Keshin then slowly begins to walk out of the corridor areas and near the exit of the Bar, trying not to attract any attention to himself. He figures that whatever Terenia morphed should be nearly invisible, small enough to follow him and not to arouse any suspicion. He sure as hell can't see it.

<Dumb chick, Kess. Even I wouldn' do that.>

<....this is going to be a long day. Or night. Or whatever.>
*******************************************************************************************************************

Mar bares his fangs and clenches a fist, but his anger slowly subsides. "...so your friend stole another's Yeerk and used the abilities of the host to his advantage. A typical ploy in the world that you live, but no less or more twisted than any other action. Except for the fact that it caused pain in the heart of the dear girl, and exposed her to you. And in a few years, who knows if that friend of yours will still be worthy of your trust?”

Mar slowly sits back in a seat of his own chair, looking psychologically exhausted. This is not a normal situation for him to be stuck in. But then again, no situation has been since he entered the Bar. This is not my world and not my place. Yet I have not expired yet… Mar then turns to Issid. “Would you prefer another human? Or something else? I want to avoid a commotion.  If it can be helped, I do not want it known that one of my servants has come anywhere near this Bar.  I want to be…”

Mar looks very uncomfortable and then puts his hand on Issid’s shoulder.  A series of images then flash through both Elayne and Issid’s heads. They depict a version of Mar with a cruel expression, his foot on someone’s head. Images of black-armored soldiers and bloodied victims. None of it is good. The closest are a few forced kisses. Everything stops and Mar shakes his head. “…not me. Just Mar.  For a while longer.”

<<I am not stupid,>> Terenia says to Keshin, <<why does everyone keep saying that? The Andalites don't even realize the possible ramifications of their actions. They just run into every new situation with their tail blades held high like they can fix it all. They are the stupid ones. But fine. I'll shut up.>>
