Alic nods, her expression slightly serious. "Yes, love. I can attempt to find her." This human was causing a lot of trouble, and Alic was hoping they would have been rid of her long before. She wasn't making this easy, and a few of the bar's occupants were even trying to help her.
Seeing Myitt, Alic gave a goofy grin and gave Myitt a half hug back. "Those Wheaties look damn good. Save some for me, I have to go hunting." Great. So somewhere on this hell-hole there is a morph capabale once-human-now-yeerk. She could be anywhere in who knows what form. Alic stepped down the ramp and demorphed. She would be much quicker on four hooves and could try to contact Terenia with thought-speech.
<If you guys decide to leave.. well.. just don't go without me!> Alic galloped off to the bar.

"Will do," Myitt says with a grin, watching Alic leave.  She glances at Claxter.  "Sooo," she says after a moment of awkward silence.  "How about that sports team we all root for?"

((Well it's a good thing your opinion of Terenia doesn't affect your characters opinion, Chad. :P At least I hope it doesn't. But that's the point, people are kind of supposed to hate her.

Oh, btw, I'm going to be flying to New York tomorrow where I'll be for the next ten days. I should have internet access the whole time, but no guarantees on how often I can post. It all depends on how my schedule works out.))

Terenia heard Keshin calling and bug-walked around the bottle. Abruptly she took flight again, buzzing around the room to make sure that they were, for the most part, alone. Once she was thoroughly satisfied she landed on the bar in front of the gargantuan form that she recognized as Keshin.

<<Is it all clear?>> Terenia asked her privately, not trusting her bug instincts alone.

(My opinion of her won't effect Temrash's or even Sukohn's opinion of her. But Claxter's dislike of her is partially feuled by different emotions than them. That would be more obvious if Temrash was still around, I think.)

<Sports team? Sometimes I watch driftball competitions. I hope that I am able to see the championship game, since it's going to be the two biggest teams of the year going tail to tail.>

Myitt smiles faintly, looking at the cabin floor.  "I wonder what humans would think of driftball.  Mostly their sports involve large, sweaty males smashing into each other in pursuit of a ball made of animal skin.  It's all rather barbaric, if you ask me."  She grins a bit.  "Though Tara is partial to a sport called baseball.  Much more civilized."

She picks up her comm link, impatient.  "Where are you guys?  I don't really know how to operate this thing, if the Peace Movement sends us a response."

((Going to Buffalo until Monday to visit a couple college pals and meet up with Terenia and her roomie!  Yay!  So my posts might be a bit less frequent...feel free to do whatever you need to do, and don't worry, I'm sure we'll take pictures! :D))

<Oh? Driftball has very little physical contact, except when the linemen try to hold the opponent's tail to the side to prevent them from hitting the ball. You probably know we Andalites are not very big on physical contact such as putting arms around each other. I could probably get you a holodeck recording of a few games.>

((I'm back. Thanks for your patience, Kelly :) ))

Issid recoiled a little as Mar reached for Elayne's head, and then froze as his hand somehow went into--or perhaps through--it. As he removed his hand, she abruptly felt different: somehow empty and unwhole. She shivered a little but remained still, hoping he would be true to his word and replace whatever it was he had taken; she had never felt more unsettled and uncomfortable in her life.

<You know, he told the other Elayne he consumes souls he takes,> her host murmured quietly.

<Shut up,> Issid hissed.

When Mar placed his hand back through her, and she felt like normal, she gave a visible shiver of relief. His words took a moment to sink in, and then she frowned incredulously. "You're going to let me make a case for continuing to infest Elayne?" On one hand, she was amazed at his gall, but on the other, she was surprised he did not just remove her forcibly. If he was as powerful as he said--which she now had no reason at all to disbelieve--surely it would be no difficult task for him to extract a Yeerk from a human head.

Giving a shrug, she folded her arms across her chest. "First of all, you haven't lost Elayne to me. She's still right here, and if I gave her control or if I abandoned her head, she'll be as good as new to you. Even if she is a different Elayne, I daresay she still cares about you as much as the previous one." Her host made an embarrassed protest to these words, but Issid ignored her and continued speaking. "Secondly, this timeline causes much less bloodshed. The Yeerk takeover of Earth was swift and painless, and now Yeerks are not hunted down like rabid wolves, as they were before. We Yeerks treat our hosts well, and many of them are happier than they were before we infested them."

Keshin glances about the room and then calls out, "I think we're clear. But wherever you are, we're going to have to be really careful. You might want to stay hidden and just stay behind me."

Keshin glances around the room, confused. Terenia just spoke to him in thought-speak very closeby, but he doesn't see the Andalite anywhere.

<You think she's messin' with us?>

<No. She has to be somewhere. She'll just follow us and we'll tread very carefully.>

Mar thinks over Issid's statements, and then gets a very disturbing grin on his face. "Oh my dear Yeerk...I think you have the wrong idea. You see, the reality that causes the most psychological anguish is the one that will benefit a creature like me." Mar folds his arms behind his back, his expression now cold. "We living creatures of any kind are concerned with our own survival and well-being before that of others. And the stronger the fear of loss and misery is in a place, the more powerful I become. I cannot gain Belief through worship easily, you know. So it must be known that I exist instead."

Mar then turns to Issid and states, "But I suspect I will gain what I seek out of the mass enslavement of the human race, and out of the daily emptiness of the enslaving race's lives. ...would you be willing to locate a different host when possible, as well as return this one to a safe location? ...you realize that it would be difficult for Elayne to exist a free person in your timeline. ....have you a solution to this?"

Issid stared at Mar in shock and then slowly raised one of Elayne's dark eyebrows. "You are an odd one; I have no idea what she sees in you," she murmured. Though her words were directed at him, her voice was quiet enough that she seemed to be talking to herself.

Then she gave a small smirk. "So you want me to relocate Elayne? Fine, but where could be safer than the Bar under your wing? You're right: she wouldn't last long on Earth. They'd find her and infest her within days. I'm happy to find a new host, so long as it's at least as strong and able as she is. And I'll even leave her here with you. You two'll be happy enough to gag the rest of us."

<Let me talk to him,> Elayne urged, but Issid squashed her without responding.

Mar sighs, glancing off. "If I took care of Elayne in the Bar...she would have to come to live with me when I left. And I doubt that the high-spirited, woefully independent young lady wants to do that. I can be ever so overprotective." Mar gets a slight smile at this statement. "...she is terribly out of place in this timeline, you know. I do not think her psychological health would be to terribly well-off either in it or outside of it."

Mar gestures with his gauntlet arm absentmindedly. "What exactly were you doing before the timeline switch? Do you believe that you are in a better place now than you were then?"

"Absolutely not," she smirked. "But hear me out. Before, I was repairing Yeerk spacecraft; Elayne already has a knack for working on them, but it's my specialty, too. Whether she'll admit it or not, we're a good team. All the same, I'm sure I could find another host just as capable.

"But now I'm stranded without a ship or Kandrona on this little rock," she continued, "surrounded by those who want me removed from my host's head--my host, who is now starting to think autonomy might not be so bad, now that you've come to her attention.

"The problem is, however, that if the timeline changes, I will cease to exist altogether, which would hardly be beneficial to myself or my race. If I can find myself a willing host, I'll head back to Earth, dropping off Elayne wherever would be best for her along the way. And then we can forget all of this; the Yeerks can continue their occupation of Earth, you can enjoy the chaos and strife it causes, and Elayne can have a nice repair job wherever she'd like. Surely that isn't too much to ask a being like you," she said, still smirking, her eyebrows raised.

Mar shrugs slightly. "I suppose this version of you would cease to exist. But unless you are a very young Yeerk, you should continue to exist with relative ease. Although your answer suggests the two of you only remember Elayne's memories of the original timeline. Also..."

Mar glares at Issid. "...perhaps it is because I'm good at it, but I dislike it when I sense that someone is trying to manipulate me. We've just gone over the fact that Elayne would be reinfested all-too-quickly. I suspect there are ways to tell if a human is missing a Yeerk in your time. If you dropped her off anywhere in her own sector of space, she would not survive free."

Mar stares off. ".............does she still consider me a friend? Let me talk to her." Mar seems to have acclimated to the timeline irregularities around Elayne, but he's still shaking a bit.

(I had a thought. If Mar goes with Ossanlin for one reason or another, I am willing to have Sukohn's temporary host (he's going to get a new one so there will be two of them) religious, so he can have a panic attack when he finds out about mar. Might be nice if the guy finds someone who actually believes in souls. I'm not sure if Temrash believes in souls, but he is concerned about Myitt's safety when Mar tlaks about owning her.)
