"Do you have a better suggestion?" Terenia asks Ossanlin, "Roswell may be populated, but only in the city centers. It's in New Mexico, right?" She looks to Myitt for confirmation, "New Mexico is basically a giant desert. We could arrange for Zorish to get the information...he won't overlook it if someone specifically mentions an Escafil Device, since no human would know about such a technology. He would certainly take interest. Then, we could arrange it so that the location of the device is somewhat away from the main populace, out in the desert. Of course, we would still have to ensure that there is not an armada of sorts waiting for us..."

((No worries Patty, good luck with the supe position!

And Luke, somehow I am not surprised...xD  Star Wars is teh awesome.))

"Well, if we can't set any traps or come out with guns blazing, neither can Zorish," says Myitt.  "Of course, I don't trust the bastard not to care about some innocent human bystanders, so naturally we'd go armed, but he can't walk up with an army of Hork-Bajir, either."  She rubs the back of her neck, considering the possibilities.  "See, the whole extraction process, as you call it, was why I originally had favored doing this on a ship.  He could still very well run a discreet bioscan on anyone present, and while I think a human morph would go undetected, certainly any Yeerks present would not be.  He's going to need Terenia with him, right?  The whole situation is going to be dangerous and messy, no matter what, that goes without saying.  We would need to subdue Zorish before he gets the chance to really scrutinize the situation, which could be as easy as a stun shot."  She grins a bit.  "There are such things as Dracon silencers, too, if you know where to find them.  I'd say we'd need to park a small, cloaked ship very close by, perhaps in an alley or on a roof, and hope Zorish doesn't have too many reinforcements."

Myitt nods at Terenia.  "Yes, it's in New Mexico, and although it's a small city, by New Mexico standards it's fairly isolated."  She pauses, turning back to the hovering holoscreen.  "Shall I tell Hadrin where our little party is going to be held?"

((Shorty - completely by accident, I gave my GESB character and my Tobias's Perch character the same name, but they are not the same character. Even if the GESB Elayne were a Chee, your character can't assume she is one, unless he can see through holograms.))

"Yes, please," Elayne nodded, turning on her stool to face him, feeling like this would probably need her full attention. "Also explain this soul business, if you're so inclined." She grinned. "You're not exactly making summoning sound like a good thing. Is there an instance in which it would it even be beneficial? Maybe I could just convince you to stay here like this; it sounds more pleasant," she teased.

((Here's the description I posted when I first joined the GESB: "Elayne is a 24-year-old 5'6"-tall human of average build with dark hair, blue eyes, and a medium complexion. She has a neutral American accent and is currently wearing black, somewhat baggy pants, black scuffed boots, a blue collared shirt that is smudged with engine grease, and a belt that is arrayed with various tools and a Dracon."

Sorry for the confusion, Shorty!))

(Actually I doubt a hologram could fool a Howler. They can see organs inside a body, or lack thereof. I didn't know he was referring to Elayne, though. I thought he was talking about Breekan's character, which is why I asked who was controlling that Chee and Puk.)

Sukohn wasn't sure how things were going on Keshin's end, but he figured as long as Elayne stayed at the bar he still had time. Part of him hoped the andalites would leave, since that would make things easier, but he didn't know where they were or what they were up to. Brefly he wondered if he might capture the young Warrior for himself, but that would probably be too hard to handle. No sense biting off more than he could chew.

Mercy leaned back in his chair, downed the last of the fire ale and started to nod off. This was good, maybe he could jsut relax here.

Joanne laughs a bit. They did have time to clean up the arm a bit, but it serves as a grim reminder of the truth to Hunter's words. "That's pretty much how it is here, buddy. Me an' my friend Kess tried to take up a bounty right in this bar. That didn' really work so well, though I think we coulda done it. And we got somethin' outta it too."

Joanne then nods at him. "So what brings a furry lil' bounty hunter inta this part of space? Doubt there's too many folks in this Bar that'd be on your list, anyway. Plenty on mine."

Mar frowns at Elayne, trying to determine how best to phrase the answer to her question. It was something commonly asked in the dimensions he frequented. "A soul is...the spirit inside of the meat sack that makes it sentient. The true identity and makeup of the individuals you see. A ghost in the shell, if you will. The body can technically run without a soul and seem relatively unchanged, assuming that there is no damage to its brain. But the most vivid arts, crafts, and sciences..." Mar gestures with his hand a bit. "...that which makes a species truly unique and vibrant...these would have no inner meaning without the soul. I remember that it..." Mar smiles oddly. "...felt a bit like a chill through my mass, a great excitement and passion. I miss it still."

Mar draws back the sleeve on his left arm, revealing his very odd "gauntlet." He then clenches his fist. "If you own such a thing...you own the person, really. They're just a body with memories and emotions without it, a machine built of flesh and neurons. The reason I warn you about summoning is not because your body would be in danger. In the end, what does that matter to an Immortal? I suppose that's why Myitt doesn't get along well with me."

"Oh, I used to frequent this bar a while back. I got called in to do a job, and well... it was a bit nasty, to say the least, so I need a place to kick back."

With that, he noticed that his drink was empty, so he refilled his glass, and took a small mouthfull, savouring the taste.

Joanne smirks at Hunter, tapping the table they're sitting at. "Hunter my man...just a fair warnin' for ya. This is just about the absolute worst place to relax. Somethin's always goin' on, and people like me don' have a clue what half of it is. If you wanna relax, you might as well go home an' sleep or somethin'. If that's an option."

Joanne glances about the Bar and leans in with a whisper. "But between you and me...if you see one of your bounties, only take it up with 'em when their friends are outta earshot. An' that's hard in a place like this."

Elayne nodded slowly. "That's about what I've understood souls to be too, but I never imagined a body could live without one. So you're saying yours was taken from you? That... you no longer have one?" The idea sent a shiver down to the base of her spine, and she shifted uncomfortably on her bar stool.

"What good do others' souls do you? Why do you collect them?" she asked, not entirely sure she wanted to know the answer, but figuring she had already ventured this far into freaky territory. Then she took another step with a question that felt intensely personal. "What are you going to do with Myitt's soul?"

Mar flinches a bit at Elayne's final question, but quickly shakes it off. No one has ever bothered to ask him such questions before. Mar brushes back part of his hair and says, "I...suppose I will go over the answers to your questions one at a time. Carefully. My soul..." Mar gives her a bit of a dark, tired look. "...doesn't exist anymore. As punishment for attempting the revolt against my Father, I was thrown into the void of Oblivion. This was obviously supposed to kill me, but that's not what happened. Well, not exactly. I attempted to save myself by drawing Oblivion into me, thinking foolishly that if I could take control of even part of the emptiness, I could stay alive. What happened instead was that I was eaten alive...but something remained. A copy of the mind if you will. Perhaps I was just that angry. I'm not sure. Either way, this is all that's left."

"As for what I actually do with the souls I collect..." Mar smirks, baring some strange teeth. "...I swallow them and make them part of myself. What, did you think I put them in a row on a shelf?" Mar cackles at this thought. ".....no. The more I take, the stronger I become. I suppose I could live without them, simply causing pain where I go. But then I suspect I would not be able to fight my Father on equal terms. I am only a small part of all the Entropy there is."

"And as for Myitt..." Mar stares off. "...when I take her...I will make a copy of her, inside me. ........I have copied every one of my incarnations. It would not be difficult to make a copy of her. And once I have it...I need never be alone again."

Keshin was talking to someone named Hunter now, which kind of irked Sukohn. Was he so easily distracted? He wanted that information sometime today, and was actually beginning to regret bringing it up with anyone. He gave her a look of mild annoyance, but wasn't sure if he would see it in the crowded place.

(I keep wanting to call Keshin a girl because his host is female. I always associate the Yeerk' gender with their host's.)

Maybe it was just boredom making him a bit uncomfortable. or maybe because this was a blatant Yeerk rebel/Andalite hideout and he had no real place chilling out here. Frankly he was lucky they hadn't turned on him yet, but if he did act openly all hell would likely break loose. He wondered if anyone else in the Empire knew about this place.
