"I'm guessing you'll be needing another pilot?" Myitt ventures, stopping as they approach the ship.  "Whoa.  Who made this thing, Lockheed-Martin?  It's not really Yeerkish, is it, it's more like...like a fighter jet."  She follows Elayne's lead, peering inside the ship cabin.  "Smaller than a Bug, but not by much."  She turns back to Elayne, while standing at the edge of the hatchway, inside the ship.  "Technology like this...either the Empire got really human happy and decided to model ships after human craft, or...or this is all human, with some Yeerk or Andalite tech slapped on."

"Uh, thanks," Elayne shrugged to Temrash and stepped aside to let them all look around. "We weren't exactly close." She glanced to Myitt, "Boeing," she corrected. "It's small because it only needs to fit two humans; no one has to accommodate Hork-Bajir or Taxxons or whatever. Obviously the design is heavily inspired by Yeerk technology, but this ship is human-made. And yeah, you're right. I'll need a new pilot. It's a miracle I didn't crash this thing into the bar; I don't think I could get her off the ground on my own."

Gelia looks down at her Laratin and sighs.  She never did feel completely at ease in a large group, and this qualified as a large group.  She muttered and excuse, and went outside.

The cool air hit her face and she breathed deeply.  Stretching her wings slightly, Gelia took off, circled once around the bar to unstiffen her wings, and then swooped down to the nearby lake.  Freezing a small amount of water into ice near the center, she sits on it, and thinks.

Banishment had treated Gelia badly.  She had been shunted from system to system, marked by the three vertical slashes on her arm, the nearly universal sign of banishment.  She was required to show this whenever she requested work, or a place to stay.  As a result, jobs and beds were few and far between.

She had taken to handily scuffing that place with dirt, covering up the slashes.  One alone would look like a scar from some battle.  But now she had to decide what to do with herself.  Where could she find a place to stay?  Have a life?  Or was she always going to be on the edges?  Alone?

Alone forever?

Zoshonel had decided to try to find something interesting to do as well. He say Gelia alone by the lake, and went over.

"Hey. You seem kind of sad. I know I haven't formerly introduced myself. I'm Zoshonel. Everyone at this bar seems to have personal problems and agendas. I personally don't have any baggage, and I guess that makes me lucky, but I guess it also makes me wonder if I need to be here. I notice you can manipulate ice. I'm more fire affiliated myself."

Gelia heard the stranger addressing her from the shore.  She flew back to the shore.  "Hey, my name's Gelia.  Nice to meet you.  And yes, the personal problem is the thing on my mind, dragging me down."  She sighed.  "you are lucky.  But, I think you should be here.  Hopefully some of your luck will rub off on the rest of us."  She gave a lopsided little grin.  "Yes, all of my people--err, more like the people on the planet I was born on manipulate ice."

Gelia scratches uncomfortably at the dirt covering her triple slashes.  She had probably made it obvious that she had been banished.  But...oh well, what could she do?

"Well this is a place that seems to be owned by no one. Save the bartender. It's not always quiet, but no one lays claim over it more than anyone else. You're as welcome here as anyone. You seem to be trying to hide the markings on your arm. I assume those were put on you for what you might have done. It's ok, though. I'm sure you'll find a home somewhere. Probably not on my planet, as we don't have any frigid climates."

Artemis jumped as she didn't here Parker come up and then smiled. "Only a few years." she said. "I mostly do people, I still need practice on my backgrounds." she said with a sheepish grin.

Parker kneels beside her, "Too many details to worry about? At least you don't have to worry about the landscape moving too much."

"I can't imagine a future Earth where the Empire would allow humans to make their own ships," says Myitt quietly, looking around.  "Unless of course the Empire no longer has a presence on Earth.  But I find it curious that you seem to mention Yeerks still living on Earth."

<See?  I knew it.  Only a matter of time before curiosity got the better of you.>

<This changes things.  This ship is a very good sign.>

Leaning against her bunk, from where she could still see the entire interior of the ship, Elayne shrugged. "There are quite a few voluntary Controllers on Earth. My father was not the only human who found the arrangement beneficial. And it's undeniable that humans have much to learn from Yeerk technology."

Saying goodbye to everyone outside the bar, John headed inside to talk with Morgan and Gaz.

Sitting down at the table, John placed his rifle back on the floor next to him, with the back of the barrel resting against the chair. "Tell ya what, folks. Since you've let me join your crew Gaz, I'll buy the next round of drinks. What ya think?"

She smiled. "Obviously you have never tried to draw an ocean." Then she laughed. "No, not so much too many details as it is that...when I draw I show a certain light on things. Someone once told me thaat they seen things differently in my pictures than the real things, even thoug they were the sae images. I find people easier because I am not areound them as much, and the mysterious is interesting to me. You would think I would be better at scenery as it is my life, but I'm odd that way."

"Look around you, what here isn't odd? Ha-ha. So, you draw people better, huh? Would you draw me? I've only ever been photographed. Living in the 26th century, not many people draw using graphite anymore. It's all computer codes, and holographic imaging."

"Yeah sure!" she smiled. she flipped to another page and began sketching him out as she talked to him. "Yeah, you wouldn't believe how hard it was to find this stuff. I had to look everywhere and pay a great deal to get them. They don't even make this kind of paper anymore. You can't find any without codex prints mixed with it."

"Haha, have you ever tried making your own paper? My roommate got the artistry bug so bad, he actually made paper from an old instruction manual. It was crazy. Unfortunately, he didn't get to use it much after our operations."
