"Hmm, quite a dilemma, eh, Mar?" Myitt says with a grin.  To Keshin she replies, "Oh, good.  I can look forward to avoiding you.  Excellent."

((Wow did I ever miss a lot.  There is nothing I can possibly post that would excuse my inactivity.  Maybe I'll just say I precogged the whole thing.  XD  Seriously...I guess that's what I'll do.  I had a feeling that I shouldn't do anything.  :p  Oh, and Shen in case you didn't see it before you took off on the side-thread, I had Ossanlin preserve Mar's body outside the time-stream.  :)  ))

Ossanlin stands impassively in his spot as the flurry of interractions occur...Corliss trying to reinfest Efaen, Myitt supporting him, and Alic and Claxter defending Efaen.  The shot to the head...the exchange of dracon and shredder fire.  He continues watching, somehow he had had another feeling...this would play out the way it needed to without his involvement.  As things calm down, he flexes his tail experimentally.  His arm wound has stopped bleeding, but blood is still crusted in the fur all the way to his elbow.  He twists his upper torso and his back pops a few times, then he tilts his neck and a few more vertebrae pop.  He rests a hand on the stock of one of his shredders.

<I don't believe this, I don't believe any of it.  Yet here I am.  You...>  Ossanlin directs his main eyes at Corliss.  <...are much less a friend than I took you for Corliss.  A dangerous oversight, perhaps I'm a bit too trusting.  And you...>  Ossanlin directs his main eyes at Myitt.  <...must've run across something on Earth that scrambled your neurons...or maybe it's some sort of after-effect of your resurrection.  Do I remember properly how you saved me from involuntary control?  In the words of your host...what the HELL?>  His eyes take in both Yeerks again.  <How could either of you advocate involuntary infestation?  Whether she was born a Yeerk or not, she is still repressing a living, breathing being.  Efaen is a biggot like many others, maybe she always will be, especially now that you've shown her that her preconceptions about Yeerks are right, but that is not any justification for slavery.  You decide that this person's better off being enslaved, it gets easier.  Then other things start to justify slavery until you can always magically come up with an excuse to take away someone else's life to further your own goals.  If I have to stand against either of you, I will...and I will not be easy, not on this.>

Ossanlin looks to Claxter and nods.  <You may have reacted a bit strongly, but anything less may have allowed Efaen to be reinfested again.  You made correct judgements and reacted accordingly.  Corliss will have a bit of a headache, but that's the price for rash actions.  And his head is still attached.  That sort of judgement and reaction is required in battle, I'll put in a commendment for you when I contact the Tyrenian which I may do shortly.>  He smiles at Claxter, a hard smile that contains approval, not happiness.

Ossanlin turns his main eyes to Alic and moves to rest a hand on her shoulder.  <Thank you also for intervening, Aliciania.  I'm glad that you agree.>  He switches to private thought-speech for just a moment, still addressing Alic.  <<Please don't harass Claxter...we need unity here.  I didn't think our friends would go against us, but we need to stick together on this, even if Myitt doesn't see it that way.  He did well and he did what was necessary, and you know it.  Just go a little easy on him for me...>>

Ossanlin then opens his thoughts again to all.  <And Terenia, I will reiterate that you will not reinfest Efaen without her permission under any conditions.  I'm sorry.  The fact is, I believe you both have some psychological issues.  Yours are quite understandable as I can't comprehend the kind of hell you've been through, but two wrongs don't make a right as the humans say.  Efaen may well get herself killed in battle, at least if that happens she will die under her own mental control, and that's the least anyone can ask for.  You say that all three lives are in danger if you do not reinfest her.  While that is true, your life, as well as Efaen's, are put in greater danger if I allow you to go back to Visser 3.  It sounds as if your sister will not be executed given her circumstances.  Yeerk-supporting humans are a precious commodity that the Empire won't squander.  The truth is, you staying by your sister doesn't help her in any way, it is merely a purpose that you've set for yourself.  You are being selfish, you wish to remain closer to your sister just because you want to be close to her.  Apparently she doesn't care about you if she's a voluntary controller and does nothing to help your treatment under Visser 3.  The ruthless truth of the entire situation is this, both you and Efaen stand a much better chance of survival away from Visser 3, at the same time the Empire will lose a morph-capable host which currently serves and obeys them.>  Ossanlin doesn't feel good about trying to disabuse the young human-yeerk nothlit, or about being ruthless, but he will not allow another involuntary controller to go free.

Ossanlin feels the familiar brush of Mar against his mind and smiles inwardly.  Mar's presence brings back a bit of joy at least and makes him feel a bit better.  He sends Mar a private thought-speech.  <<I have placed your previous avatar outside the timestream in a timeweave cocoon.  It is attached to one of my memories of the past.  I can guide you to it when this situation is resolved, or you may look into my mind and see exactly where it is for yourself.>>

Ossanlin continues on.  <As for restraint...I suppose separation might be necessary, but it will hardly resolve the situation.  Efaen is emotionally compromised at the moment, not just because of her own thoughts.>  Ossanlin looks darkly at Corliss again.  <But I do have a solution of sorts.  The Mirage has a full medkit in it.  One of the ampoules contains a synthetic neuro-transmitter called pseudraphine.  Its effects are similar to those of endorphines, in essence it should make her feel relaxed and a bit cheerful, and it should remove almost all of her aggressor tendencies for a while.  She should not attack anyone while under the pseudraphine's effect, but we should still disarm her shredders for safety.  She will retain all of her cognitive functions however, so we'll still be able to talk with her.  She should not feel 'drugged' at all.>

Ossanlin pauses a moment in thought before speaking again.  <Terenia, you should remain in the bar for now.  I think we've demonstrated our abilities to keep Efaen from being infested.  If you continue antagonistic behavior, we can always take you beyond thought-speech range later to let you cool down.>

Ossanlin shakes his head a bit.  <I don't know why I come here to relax...>  He sighs quietly and scans the bar to see what effect he's had on everyone, especially Corliss and Myitt.

((Woohoo, I wrote a book.  Sorry for the long read guys.  :p  In case some of you want to skim over it, the ones who should really read it in detail are Myitt, Chad, Terenia, Alic, and Shen.))

<I feel that maybe I should have let Alinciana and Zoshonel restrain Efaen instead of stunning her again. repeatedly stunning someone is never good. However I noticed she raised the setting, and acted on my training. And Terenia, I just asked you not to ask me to reinfest efaen. Though I guess you wouldn't listen. Giving her psuedraphine before she wakes up could be a good idea, but with my Prince's permission I would also still like to take her outside. Being in amongst a group of people who cannot be trusted is not good for her. Perhaps we could keep her in the Mirage.> Claxter had finished morphing the Gorilla-like alien and picked her up to carry her to the Mirage.

Zoshonel decided to go to his ship and report everything to Temrash.

"So Tamora is voluntary, and Terenia is trying to get her and her Yeerk transfered. I might be able to help with that, but seeing as I'm trying to get done dealing with one Yeerk who thinks I'm butting into her life, you can tell her I won't bother her if she doesn't want any. Just find a way to tell her that I have connections within the Empire that could help her get Zorish and Tamora transfered wherever she wants if she desires. Oh, and one more thing. Don't even let another Yeerk into your head again. There are things you know that you may not even think about that could compromise both of our situations, and by the time you let a Yeerk in it's already too late. I will return as soon as everything is squared away on this end."

Zoshonel left his ship and reentered the bar. He knew he would need one of the Andalites to relay the message, but wasn't sure when the best time for that would be.

(I don't remember if I gave the creature a name, or what the name was.)

(Aww, it's okay Ossanlin. We missed you though!))

<You are wrong, Ossanlin,> Terenia responds, oblivious to the removal of Efaen's body, <Our current situation under Visser Three may not be the most ideal circumstances, but they are the safest. I will die without Efaen as my host, that at least is a total certainty. Efaen will be hunted down. Visser Three will never let her survive, she knows too much. Tamara...well, the Visser will have no reason to keep Zorish in his present host should he request a new one. If she receives a less influential Yeerk, the odds of her being killed will skyrocket. You are trying to do what you think is right, Andalite, I get that, but you are wrong. You are not saving anyone, instead you are killing all three of us. Even Efaen realizes this, she's just too damned stubborn to admit it.>

"Hey, Ossanlin," Myitt says gently, "all I have to say is that I'm just about as confused as you are.  I just walked into the place, and some human chick is really some sort of double nothlit, and then it turns into a shooting match.  And then Corliss tries to involuntarily infest someone.  'What the hell' doesn't even begin to describe this situation.  But I think I'm beginning to understand why my brother did what he did.  Something that normally we would naturally find abhorrent."

Corliss weaves a bit on the bar seat, holding onto the lip of the bar counter.  "Ugh.  Don't forget mates, I was used to involuntarily infest someone earlier, against my will.  But suddenly it's the most terrible thing imaginable, regardless of any deeper circumstances.  Granted that was a bit of a different situation, Cavan was armed and had shot a friend, but I was nevertheless trying to restrain someone, Efaen, whom I felt was becoming dangerous.  Besides all that, if you listen to what Terenia is trying to say--and call me mad, but I believe her--infesting Efaen would sacrifice the freedom of one person in order to save the lives of that person and two others."  He looks up at Ossanlin.  "If you can't understand that, I hold nothing against you.  I never thought I would ever do such a thing until a few moments ago.  But don't let my actions destroy your friendship with Myitt."

Gelia stares at the heated argument.  When she was forced to leave her world and come here, who knew that she would walk in in the middle of an argument.  A Yeerk-Andalite argument, from what she gathered.  Very heated.

She glanced over at Morgan.  "Do you have any idea what's going on over here?  When I came here, I didn't expect weapons to be drawn."

She then turned to Mileak.  "That's not a centaur.  That's an Andalite."  She paused.  "At least, I think it is.  I've never really seen one before.  Just heard of them."

"That was a temporary infestation, though." Zoshonel said. "If we let terenia reinfest efaen and leave, we may never see either of them again. Efaen is obviously not happy with either scenario. I wonder if it wouldn't be better for her to become a male Andalite nothlit. That would help her escape Visser Three and maybe find a place as a warrior. Though it is sad to see the state a female is in. My colture is matriarchal. That means if the males decided they didn't want the females to do something, the females would beat them senseless. Of course they are larger and more agressive than us, so it's a different scenario altogether. If she was dead set on remaining female, I doubt she'd be happy on my homeworld. We aren't at war with Yeerks or any other offworlder really."

"It would be best if we help Tamora get transfered. Can someone tell terenia that I have a friend who could help her with that if she wants? Temrash is offering to help her by using his connections, but only if she gives the word. I don't know if she will, since she would rather be left alone, but he's at least making an offer."

"Cortex is someone in our 'verse," Morgan explained. "He's like us. Marked a rebel and no other options. He's got this sort of hidden base somewhere out there. He knows everything about anything. If you need supplies, he either has them himself or knows where to get them. He can get you any sort of information."

"At a price," Gaz cut in. "Unless you're on really good terms with him like we are. Central Government would give it's right arm to know where Cortex is located."

Morgan heard Gelia and replied, "I'm not entirely sure what's going on over there. The...yeerks or whatever they're talking about don't exist in our 'verse so...it hasn't really been a concern."

To Artemis Gaz said, "Well, good to have you on board. Morgan's a great guy, great captain too. I served on his ship for a few years before he helped me secure my own."

On board Morgan's ship, Asda saw Cutter walk in. She stood up from her seat, one hand holding her side.

"Mr. Cutter," she said smiling. "It's good to see you again. I believe what you're looking for is right over there."

Breekan saunters in, refreshed from the time on earth, clearly having strolled on his way to the bar rather than hurried. He frowns as he sniffs the air, surveying the faces of newcomers, the influx of new faces, including a couple of Andalites. He raises an eyebrow at the familiar faces he finds in the bar. "Smells like a dracon sandwich up in this joint. Something go awry?"

Keshin stares about the group and states a bit coldly, "Do you people really value the freedom of one seriously bigoted Andalite over the safety and sanity of all three? I'm sorry, but that seems a bit screwed up. I have to agree with the little lady on this one. It's true that it wouldn't really be right to deprive Efaen of her freedom again, but since when has anything in this whole situation been right? Visser Three isn't exactly the world's most tolerant Yeerk, and if you think he's just going to forget about this than you seriously misjudge how obsessive he can get. I can agree if the rebellion swears to protect Terenia. They're pretty strong. But they don't even seem to like her."

*******************************************************************************************************************
Mar nods at Ossanlin curtly, almost in the same way he would to one of his generals. "Thank you for storing it for me. I have concluded that due to the strange circumstances, I will be reinhabiting it. I think that we may know one another."

Mar then turns oddly to the pool where Terenia is being held, pacing a bit with a slight smirk. "Why must the inhabitants of this Bar always get so involved with others? None of you really need to care about two poor, pathetic wretches whose lives have been ruined by a demon. You could walk away and it wouldn't make a difference. Just leave her there and return to business. I won't have Myitt getting shot over a cute little freak with a terrible life."

"Probably because we're all social creatures. Andalites, Yeerks, Draksar, ect. That means many of us tend to care about others of our own kind, or even those not of our kind. Now if you come across a species that's made up of solitary individuals that don't coexist with anyone outside their immediate family except on rare occassions, then you'd be more justified in wondering why they would care about someone they just met and didn't know existed the day before." Zoshonel said to Keshin.

"Being a bigot in itsself is not a criminal act. Slavery is. Is that difficult to understand?"

"I suppose I can understand that," mutters Keshin dryly. "But all of your species are prone to killing large numbers of people for a cause, and killing's the nastiest sin of them all. Robbing someone of their life with a Dracon beam is only a little better than robbing them of their life via slavery. I'm arguing here that I'd rather have three people alive than one sentient being free. Like I said, I'm not in this gig with Joanne because I have high-minded ideals like yours. I'm in it because of a single person: Joanne herself. That's it."

Seeing the Doctor holding her side as she stood up, he said to her "What happened to you, Doctor? Also, please call me John."

As he said this, he walked backwards to the bench that his still hostered pistol was sitting on. Picking it up, he quickly re hooked it onto his pants belt and he waked towards her with a concerned look on his face.

"Bit of an accident," Asda replied.

"Accident?!" her assistant blurted. "How do you call getting shot by a Central Government bounty hunter an accident? Not to mention that Corliss operated on you in the bar."

"I'm fine," Asda insisted. "Still recovering, that's all."
