Terenia looks around at Fox and Morgan and Joanne, all sharing their life stories like old friends and feels a bit nauseous. It's as if all of the most miserable miscreants of the world were thrown here to wallow in their own misery. Suddenly, she feels extremely claustrophobic. Everything and everybody is too close, especially that extra voice in her head.

<So get out.> Efaen says.

<Shut up.> Terenia takes another sip of her drink, but the taste makes her feel even more sick, and hunger is making her Yeerk self irritable. Hoping that everyone is too deep in their conversations to notice, she half mumbles an "excuse me," and slips away from the bar and outside.

As soon as she crosses the threshold of the bar she takes a few deep breaths of the planet's air. She could go back to her ship, but that would be useless right now. She could try to escape, but she may get killed doing that, and she was a self-preservationist if nothing else. Instead, she walks a few paces away from the door and leans against the bars outer wall, sliding down into a sitting position and pulling her knees to her chest. She stares up at the night sky, trying to ignore everything.

Claxter noticed Terenia leave, as his stalk eyes were always tracking across the room. He did't think she would try to escape. She seemed very uncomfortable, and he knew she was nearing the end of her cycle. Obviously she didn't want to leave until she absolutely had to, but sheprefered life over death. She would not try to escape, or sit in Efaen's head until her death throes caused her to crawl out.

It would be pointless to go out there, as there was nothing he could do to comfort her. <<Corliss, I believe we will need the services of the Kandrona machine soon. Perhaps you could make it ready. If she sees that it is already prepared when she returns, that may further entice her to leave before she absolutely has to.>> He said privately to exclude Terenia. If she heard him, it could be counterproductive.

((Here's a thought: What would happen to a Yeerk's hunger if the Yeerk had caused its host to morph, and then its host passed the limit and became a nothlit?  The Yeerk's own body would probably be in z-space somewhere along with the host's original body, even if it were a human morph, just like morphing something like a flea wouldn't cause a Controller to explode Yeerky flea mush...so I guess the hunger would just...go away?  Hopefully not stay in that one state of pain, even though the Yeerk is trapped along with its nothlit host?

And also...welcome, venom!  Just invent a (prefererably original) character and have him/her/it walk in for a drink.  Or a meal.  Or a fight.  (No powergaming, please.) ))

Corliss listens to Joanne with interest.  "Had kind of a crap homelife, huh, kiddo?  I reckon that's what spurs a lot of people to two things: Alcohol, and The Sharing." He shakes his head.  "Mike's parents were all right, his dad was a bit of a tosser, but just the sort where you don't realize you could have it worse, you know?"  He notices Terenia get up and leave the bar, in human form.  She looked miserable, understandably.

"I'm sorry, Claxter, I don't go round carrying scads of portable Kandrona wave/particle generators in my coat pockets.  They don't grow on trees, you know.  I already used one up earlier, there might be enough juice left in it for one more round."  He indicates the lukewarm grey water still sitting in the tupperware container on the bar counter.  "If she's really desperate we can have someone watch her while she feeds in her ship, she'd have the proper restraints for Efaen, as well.  Even my Skimmer doesn't have a setup for that sort of thing, besides the Kandrona.  Although...I do still have those living metal cuffs.  I think."

He turns to Morgan.  "I'm sorry to interrupt, mate, but um...do you know where those living metal cuffs went, after you erh, disposed of Cavan?"  He looks uncomfortable discussing the death of someone whose entire life he's seen in detail, rubbing his sore arm idly.

<The only reason I see to restrain Efaen is to keep her from killing Terenia. I suppose if we restrained her, then took her outside, we could lock the door and she would not be able to enter. But someone would need to be remain inside the ship with Terenia. I suppose we need to start thinking of how we will keep them separated. Even if Parker or...Alinciana...vo lunteered to be a temporary host, terenia will still need to remain in the pool until she is satiated. However long that is.>

((Tara, that makes my head hurt :P ))

Terenia looks away from the stars, shifting her attention to the dirt beneath her. She takes a hand and picks some up, letting it fall through the gaps between her fingers. She examines her dirtied hand thoroughly, as though checking for imperfections.

<You are not going to be executed,> Efaen says, <I do not know why you insist on being so melodramatic.>

<According to them I will not be executed,> Terenia corrects, <Perhaps they are lying, perhaps not. Even if I live, this constitutes a set-back of enormous proportion. My entire cause is destroyed. I will have no way of determining Tamora's status. I will be unable to return to the Blade Ship. This is my death row, whether I die or not.>

<And my liberation,> Efaen says, although the earlier excitement is gone. Terenia pushes herself to her feet and looks at the grounds surrounding the bar. Her gaze falls on the shipyard and the slightest inkling of something passes through her consciousness.

"Yes," Terenia says out loud, beginning to walk forward, "It is your liberation."

As she walks she begins to resume Andalite form, pausing only during the moment of transition from two legs to four, before continuing on her course. She does not stop until she reaches her ship.

<Computer, open hatch,> Terenia says. The hatch obliges and Terenia enters, resealing the ship behind her and ordering it not to open for anyone. She begins to look through various compartments, being careful not to power up the engines or even the computer, lest anyone think she is taking off. Terenia knows that it is too late for escape. Perhaps she can manage to avoid public humiliation, delay the inevitable, but beyond that her options are limited.

(( "It's as if all of the most miserable miscreants of the world were thrown here to wallow in their own misery." Yup, that's about the size of it. And a couple inter-dimensional nutjobs. :D This place tends to attract miserable people, and I guess that includes Terenia. XD ))

"Nah, it actually wasn' all that bad until it came out that I could do some weird stuff. I'd always been kinda sick, and even though they couldn' take care of me much my Mom always got cheap pills and things for me. That, and the alcohol. I had friends of a kind, though we was always gettin' in some kinda trouble. As for the portable Yeerk junk...we have some on the ship, I guess."

<She went back to her ship.> Claxter said after checking to see where she was, and hearing her walk towards where her ship was. <Does she intent on using her Kandrona machine while locked in there, so she can last another three days without us getting to Efaen?>

"What would that really do for her? Vissers aren't patient, and she knows she's stuck here until she cooperates with us.

<I suppose...>

Morgan reached into the shoulder bag on the floor next to his chair and pulled out the cuffs. He handed them to Corliss.

"Made sure to get those back," he said, "was just waiting for a good time to return them."

Corliss takes the snakey chains of living metal and pulls over the med bag sitting under the counter, stuffing the cuffs in.

"Thanks, mate," he replies, glancing over at the girl named Raksha.  He'd heard a bit of their conversation but didn't want to ask any painful questions; he'd overheard something about them being father and daughter, and there had been quite a bit of emotionally charged talk going on.

Instead he leans on his good arm and eyes Joanne again.  "Just where are you from, exactly, Joanne?  Someplace in America, maybe?  New England or New York or something?  Your accent is interesting."

<Good, chat her up.  I probably shouldn't be drinking beer on all these painkillers, anyway,> Mike says lowly.

Parker noticed Terenia go after her ship, he hoped she didn't do anything drastic or stupid. He looked around to assess the threat level of the bar. He spun around and leaned back against the bar. He scanned the inhabitants deliberating whether it was safe or not to remove his helmet.

((I actually have no idea exactly where Joanne is from. Blame my stupidity; she's just always had that accent. XD But I always pictured her being from some low-end part of New York or Los Angeles. ))

"Well I use the same accent me folks have," states Joanne with a bit of confusion. "It's true that it doesn' quite sound like everyone around me, but it fit in well enough. I'm from the area of the Big Apple in the outlyin' places and houses. It was close enough that my family could drive there, and I lived smack in the middle of the city after I left. I'm not sure why, but I lost it in the city and started gettin' it back after I met Kess. Maybe I was wantin' to remember my folks out in space."
