Corliss smiles mirthlessly.  "See?  Then it is possible for some Andalites to consider the idea of Yeerk infestation without losing their breakfast.  But certainly exceedingly rare.  I don't suppose the Visser would ever allow you to take a different host?"

(I guess terenia's bound to lose the Andalite too. Neither Alic nor Claxter would let her leave with an involuntary host, much like Kara.)

Claxter reentered the bar, and his thoughts went back to Terenia. She was a Yeerk nothlit, and not an Andalite. That meant she had an Andalite host, and he would be hard pressed to convince that the andalite was voluntary. He sent a message to both Oss and Alic. <<so what is to be done with the Andalite that Terenia inhabits?>>

((Good thing they aren't within earshot :P ))

Terenia laughs, "she only accepted me because I wasn't really a Yeerk. And I'm sure Visser Three would be more than happy to see me in a Gedd, but I wouldn't be of much use to him then."

(I made an edit. claxter didn't hear, but he assumes, and Alic is inside the bar.)

Corliss sighs.  "I suppose it's wise not to look an Andalite host in the...um...mouth," he says sheepishly.  "What will happen to you, if the Empire loses its initiative on Earth?"

<Which they will, if we have our way,> Mike adds darkly.

<See, this is why we have so many humans in our little band,> says Corliss slyly.  <You're great for all the bravado and stuff.>

Terenia shrugs, "I suppose I'll do what I have to do to persevere, just as I've always done. Maybe I'll hijack myself a Blade Ship or something." She grins to show that she's kidding.

"I hope you don't hold my host against me too much, though. I honestly don't have much of a choice, right now. If I did, I would still have my old, voluntary host."

Corliss nods.  "Oh, no, I don't hold it against you, mate.  I still know plenty of people who simply can't or won't give up their lives within the Empire.  I very nearly didn't, myself.  Many of us wish things could be different, but we work with what we've got.  You can tell your Andalite host, though, that not all Yeerks are hell bent on destroying her people."

Terenia laughs, "She says to go to hell, more or less," she taps on the bar to get the bartender's attention. He scowls at her, but gets her a second drink when she requests it. Terenia doesn't pay him any mind beyond accepting the drink and instructing him to put it on her tab. "It's not as bad as it used to be, though. Efaen doesn't spend quite so much time screaming. We've actually had one or two conversations, believe it or not."

<I would not call what we have conversations.> Efaen says coldly in Terenia's head.

<What would you call them then?> Terenia asks sarcastically.

<Nothing. They are nothing, because you are nothing. Nothing more than a pitiable creature who thinks she is in control just because she is forcing another to lose their own control.>

((yay internal dialogue!))

((Yay! Now you can! :D))

"That's fine, I didn't expect her to like me, in spite of me charm," says Corliss with a grin.  "I suppose there's only so long a person can scream at a Yeerk before it gets awfully tiring.  Conversation is much better, in the end."

Keshin grins at the conversation, sitting back down in his normal seat now that the action has gotten considerably less dangerous. "Heh. Myitt always wonders why we refuse to join you fellows, seeing as we're similar and we're going to die anyway. I suppose you could chalk it up to the fact that we don't agree with you. When revolutionaries take over a government, they tend to eventually become just as corrupt as what they replaced. Power does that to people. Besides, corrupt governments tend to have these wonderful little hidey-holes in them, if you know where to look. Terenia's clearly found one of the less appealing ones."

Morgan sat quietly at his place at the bar. He was beginning to wonder if remaining at the Space Bar was a good idea. If one Central Government soldier had manage to find this place, then how long would it be until more came? Then again, Cavan had probably come to the bar purely on accident.

Besides, it wouldn't be nice to vanish before Gaz got back.

Suddenly, Asda's voice came over Morgan's comm.

"Captain," she said, "I think I need to come back into the bar."

"Don't you move," Morgan said. "Captain's orders."

"But you shouldn't be on your own," Asda argued. "Not today."

"You remembered," Morgan said with a sigh.

"How could I forget?" Asda replied.

"You stay in bed," Morgan said. "Ship needs her Doctor at full health. I'll be fine."

"Well, don't expect me to run for Council, if I survive this bloody war," says Corliss.  "I reckon our people will have to have some more civilized, democratic form of government, and it may still be corrupt, but there has to be a better way than this.  Than Imperialism, and taking people's lives and cultures away, and being guilty until proven innocent."  He shakes his head.  "Don't reckon it's going to 'appen overnight, you know.  Anyway, it seems you agree with us more than you think, Keshin.  That's got to be some kind of cozy relationship you've got with your host, if you're each others' only company, risking your lives all the time like you are.  And you're risking yours to save 'ers.  How sweet."

Corliss glances over at Morgan, still bothered by the death of the person whose life history he saw, but more disturbed about Morgan's fragile state of mind at the moment.

Morgan, paying no attention to anyone else at the bar, pulls out small pad that projects a small holographic image.

The image is of a woman with eyes like emeralds and long chestnut colored hair. She is smiling and holding her hands folded in front of her. The dress she wears is green. It is simple, yet elegant.

Morgan sighs as he looks at the image of a woman long since gone.

Puk watches the scuffle with Cavan unfold, sitting at the bar and listening uncomfortably to Terenia and Corliss's conversation.  A look of bafflement crosses his face. "You'd... rrrrone who'd neverrr even been rrrrraised by the rrrempirrrre would..." He begins to rear up on his longer leg, stretching to his full height, then padding softly back to the ground and standing again in quick succession, a Gedd sign of confusion. "Do you knowrrr rrrwhat it's like rrrrwith yourrr head taken away?"
