<Some people may be naive or desparate enough that they will believe anything. I don't know much about psychology, but you can catch just about anything you want given the right bait.> Claxter said.

"Yes, bait is important, but it's timing that is the most crucial element. The person has to be in the right state of mind to believe the impossible.

I know that if I hadn't lost my family when I did, the SPARTAN-II program would've never picked me up, and I'd probably be running for some political office right about now."

Mike nods at Parker.  "Yeah.  Heh.  The military, outer space, the existence of aliens, getting shot at with bloody laser beams on a regular basis.  Plus I've gotten quite used to cabbage and tomatoes."  He chooses to ignore Claxter's remark and replies to Terenia.  "Reckon most people aren't as lucky, yes, but Corliss and I weren't always so friendly.  In fact I still give the little bugger a run for 'is money."  He laughs and munches on a french fry.  "Anyway, there are lots of reasons humans join a group like The Sharing.  Lots of groups like them, throughout history.  Knew lots of alcoholics, drug addicts, people who were depressed--and then your average people who just wanted something to look good on their college applications, or something to get involved in the community.  Most people reckoned The Sharing could give them something they thought they needed in their lives, but it wasn't exactly stated up front just how much The Sharing wanted in return."

"Yeah, I've heard other Marines talk about how the military recruiters would promise grandiose experiences, and then reality soon slapped them in the face."

<They tend to leave out the harsher parts, but tell you all about the fun parts like flying your own fighter across the vast reaches of space while destroying the evil Yeerks.>

Mike nods gravely.  "Most militaries will do that, yeah.  No matter what race you are, what planet you're from, it's all the same.  War is bloody hell, man."  He glances at Claxter.  "It's all brainwashing, man.  Propaganda.  What's good and evil, really?"

((Have to move this up))

Fox continues to wait outside Ossanlin's ship with his arms crossed and standing upright.

<I suppose you're right,> Terenia says, shrugging, <I suppose the whole reason I'm here isn't too different from the reasons people join The Sharing...or the military.>

She watches Mike consume her food for awhile, eying his plate longingly, <I haven't had a good french fry in....over a decade.>

"Well, Jesus, mate, have some!" Corliss says emphatically, pushing his plate closer to Terenia.  "I know what it's like to go months and sometimes even years without a decent bloody meal.  Can you morph human?  Reckon it's much better than the Andalite way of eating chips, eh?"  He smiles, reaching over to grab another fry.

<I have some ilsapar root in my fighter if you want to eat something besides grass. It's just a little stash I've been keeping.>

(Ilsapar root is the stuff in the Gafinilan and Mertyl book that Ax really liked. It's like the cinnamon bun of things Andalites can eat without morphing.)

After a while Fox decides that Ossanlin is busy and he needs to come back but he still wants to give his message. He goes back to his ship and relays a message to the prince and he says: "Prince Ossanlin. I have some important information for you. I waited for you in front of your ship but I'm deciding to go to thebar. When you have the time please contact me. I'll be in the bar." Fox then leaves hi Arwing and goes back into the bar.

Terenia gives Mike a look that would be the equivilant of a raised eyebrow, had she been human. <I would love to, but nothlit, remember? If I could morph human, I probably wouldn't be here.>

((Shorty sometimes you just have to wait for a response. I was in a battle where I had to wait 2 weeks for a response. Just be patient, some RPers only post once or twice a week.))
