Corliss laughs.  "That is something that took quite a long time, both for him and for me.  Michael wasn't voluntary when he joined The Sharing, although he does have a natural dislike of his fellow humans."  He smirks.

<Oy, that in't true!> Mike exclaims.  <Most of the time...>

"Andalites have never been particularly friendly to the Yeerk rebellion, outside of the odd individual here and there, and there will always be an uncomfortableness between our two peoples.  But I certainly don't hate Andalites, as long as they don't shoot at me before I even open my mouth to explain my situation to them."

Keshin smiles, noticing the content of the conversation. "Hey, Joanne and I do approximately the same thing. We figured out after years of bounty hunting like this that it was better to have one of us doing one part of the operation and the other one doing the second bit. Our running gag is that my reaction time is shot. People generally reach a consensus with their hosts either because they have an moral objection to complete control, or because it's some kind of necessity given the situation. Corliss is the former. We're the latter."

"As for the interest in our fuel..." Keshin lays back against the table. "...we'd be willing to part with some as long as we have enough to get out of this dump. We've come off from a pretty good job and can afford to pay for more. Terenia seems like she needs some help, too."

"If you're going to help Terenia, I'll hold down the fort here." Zoshonel said to Parker. That is, watching Corliss' back. He dropped down and sat near Corliss, between him and Joanne. He tried to make small talk attempting to mimic Mike's accent. "'ey, 'ow's it goin'?"

Meanwhile Claxter was feeding and talking to Oss. Then he noticed Mar. <A fallen Human?> After examining him, it seemed Mar was dead. <This one seems to have suffered suddenly.>

(hhmmm...I wonder how the pirates would interact with the bounty hunters. lol).

There was a call on Morgan's communicator. "Captain! How long we plannin on stayin?"

"We're here until Gaz gets back," Morgan replied.

"What do we do until then?" the voice asked.

"Go ahead and start those modifications you've been wanting to do," Morgan said.

"Aye, Cap'n," the voice replied and was gone.

Morgan glanced around the bar and, out of the corner of his eye, he saw two people.

"They look familiar," Morgan muttered quietly.

"Captain?" Asda asked.

Morgan looked at the bar and said, again quietly, "The two over there. I've seen those faces somewhere before."

"You mean you've met them?" Asda asked.

"No," Morgan said, "I'm sure I've seen pictures somewhere. Can't be sure though."

<Thank you,> Terenia inclined her head in thanks at Joanne, <I have no immediate plans of leaving, but I would like to be prepared to do so. Shall we?>

Terenia begins to head towards the door, then pauses and adds, <I suppose you are right, about the reasons for consensual relationships between yourself and your hosts. It makes me wonder why more Yeerks do not form such a relationship, if it makes your lives so much easier. Of course, maybe some hosts do not deserve the freedoms that you have allowed your own.>

She shrugs and continues on her path towards the door.

"Yeah, out of sheer necessity," Corliss scoffs, shaking his head at Joanne and Keshin.  "Reckon there's more to it than that.  But, 'ey, what do I know, then?"

He turns quickly to Zoshonel as the dragonlike creature drops down next to him.  "Jesus, mate, you're quick eh?"  He moves his hand out from inside his jacket and grins as Zoshonel tries to mimic his host's accent.  "Like a regular parrot then, aren't you?  Don't reckon you've ever been to Liverpool, or Earth for that matter?"

Corliss shoots a glance back at Terenia as she heads toward the door.  "That's a very interesting question Terenia, most Yeerks as I'm sure you're aware simply aren't brought up to believe a mutual relationship with their host is socially and morally acceptable.  But shouldn't even an evil person deserve the right of their own body's free will?  The implications are fascinating, really."

<No,> Terenia answers simply, <They should not.> She seems as though she is going to explain, but decides against it, allowing Corliss to draw his own implications from her opinions.

Puk shakes his head. "Mostly they werrrre my memorrries- they werrrre locked in my head, but the Yeerrrrrk's rrrexpanded brrrrain let me rrraccess them. rrrUnfortunately I was neverrrr trrrained. rrrI know how to be rrrran rrrengineerr but I know less rrrabout rrrwhy it worrrrrks the rrrway it does." His ears perk up as Terenia speaks of needing help with her ship. "rrrwe'd be rrrwilling to offerrrr ourrrr serrrrvices," he says, following the crowd headed outside.

Muted, bound from violence and angry, the S.S. BeastHammer heads outside as well, but immediately departs from the others and instead begins to pick through the junk yard with increasing frustration.

Parker stood up as Terenia started toward the door, "We shall." He keeps pace with her and waits when she stops to respond to Corliss. He then continues to follow in tow.

Keshin rolls his eyes at Corliss, following Terenia out the door as well. "Oh brother. Make of us what you will. He's right in saying that, though. It's why the rebels are seen as such nutjobs. When we get Imperial clients, we never let them know that Joanne's as much a part of the operation as I am. I guess that's why so many rebels are human. Whereas Yeerks would find a mutual relationship even kind of disgusting, humans would be repulsed by anything less."

Keshin then glances down, noting Claxter's comment on the dead guy. "Yeah, we saw this guy too actually. He looks wounded, but it's been treated to. It's almost like he just fell over and that was that. Oh well. It doesn't really matter, anyway."

"No, evil people do not deserve freedoms. That is why we execute them or lock them up. Lately we've been doing more locking up than executing, in case our judicial system makes any mistakes." Zoshonel said to Corliss. "I have never been to Earth, but maybe I will when I'm older."

(I don't know if Claxter is within earshot of anyone sitting in te bar, so he probably wouldn't hear Joanne speak.)

"I'm not justifying the acts of some crazy psycho killer, I'm simply making the point that it might be just as evil a thing to take away that evil person's right to decide to be evil.  More than that, his right to his own body."

Corliss sighs and gets up to follow the crew heading outside, trying not to get frustrated.  "Look, maybe Yeerks can one day...I don't know...work for prisons and maintain the sanity of people who would otherwise commit terrible crimes.  Maybe a Yeerk could have stopped Hitler from starting the Holocaust.  Who knows?  There are vile people everywhere, but I think it's just as vile to take away a person's life and personal, biological sovereignty just because of my own selfishness.  It's a huge stroke of luck and misfortune that I've made friends with a human who doesn't mind me hanging round, and that the only way our way of life is possible is to be exiled by my own people.  To commit terrible acts against them."  He zippers his grey jacket against the breeze as soon as he gets outside, but still makes sure that his Dracon is within reach inside of it.  "I wish it could be another way," he adds quietly, following them across the gravel.

Parker laughs. "If Yeerks weren't so power hungry, as I've heard they are, the prison system would be the perfect place for them. 'You commit a crime, you get a Yeerk.' Hahaha." He pats Corliss on the back as he catches up to them, unfortunately his pat feels almost like a slap.

Corliss nearly gets the wind knocked out of him and chokes a bit, raising a hand.  "Thanks, mate," he wheezes.  "Um, yeah."  He sucks in a few breaths and keeps walking.  "Reckon it might be a good idea, not all of us are power mad lunatics.  Cor..."  He coughs again and pinches the bridge of his healing nose from a few days ago.  "Ow," he mutters nasally.
