"You...switched places?" Corliss stammers, incredulous.  "You mean to tell me there's some human running round on Earth who used to be an Andalite?  She must know about us.  She must know there are Yeerks who defy the Empire, on and off-world.  I suppose a low profile would be wise.  And if she's an Andalite, she'd likely never trust the word of a Yeerk."

<If the Andalites thought the Aristh was a Human, and erased his memory, then he probably doesn't know anything.>

<I suppose the aristh just wanted to get away. She seemed to have a strange fascination with alien societies, and a hatred of war. I have no idea why she decided to enter the military,> Terenia says, <And Claxter is correct, her memory was effectively erased.>

Terenia decides to answer Claxter's questions next, speaking a bit stiffly to him as she does so.

<I was young and stupid and it sounded like a "cool adventure" at the time. Then, when I realized that the future of Earth was at stake, well I had a reason to fight. My human family was somehow less than agreeable. I had a mother who was too weak to speak for herself and an alcoholic father. My siblings were...> Terenia pauses, her voice tightening, <they were...a loss. And the aristh stole the Escafil device from wherever they happen to be kept on a Dome Ship.>

"Ah, of course.  But such a waste!  Such potential for an alliance," says Corliss, disappointed.  "Unless you would be willing to ally with Yeerks, like my strange and sundry...um..." He glances at Ossanlin and Alic.  "...two, Andalite friends, total."

Alic nodded. <Yes..> She decided to try not to discuss it so personally anymore. Her father was not well liked, anyway. It really made good for awkward moments. She just felt like it needed to be said. Right now, Ossanlin's arm felt very comforting around her and she brought herself as close as she could to his side.
Alic felt sympathy for Terenia.. She didn't agree with what the aristh did, but that was done and over with anyway, right? To be so far from your family for so long.. she could definately understand any feelings Terenia has.
<You are most welcome to fight with us.> Alic said, joining in with Corliss.

Claxter walked away from the building to collect and process all this stuff. It was a wide world outside his Domeship. That was to be sure. He supposed he could ask Prince Ossanlin for a tank of fuel to get him off the planet when the time came. The thought crossed his mind that someone might come looking for him. If they burst into the bar and started firing on Corliss or the other Yeerks, he might wind up doing something to put him in bigger trouble with his superiors than he was now.

<I appreciate the sentiment,> Terenia says carefully, <and as it appears I will be here for some time, I will certainly accept any friendly gesture headed my way. However, my alliances are somewhat...tangled, you see. I fight this war in my own ways, and it will remain so. Thank you for the kind words, though. They are appreciated.>

Terenia felt strangely comfortable around this hodge-podge of aliens, all belonging to species that could easily and justifiably kill her just for being what she was. It was a strange feeling that she rarely encountered, and the fact that she had found a brief moment of clarity negated any possibility of her trying to leave particularly quickly.

((Oh my god. I'm gone for a couple hours and, typically...the Bar explodes in posts. ; )  Oh, well. I'll post anyway. ))

Joanne and Keshin listen carefully, trying to absorb as much information about the patrons of the Bar as they can. First, Terenia herself is in fact wanted by a number of people. That may be an interesting angle to play later. Ossanlin himself is dangerous and quite powerful in some circles. Rumor has it that his battle skills can be almost otherworldly sometimes, which would make for one hell of a fight between them. Corliss is of course wanted by the Empire and talented with a Dracon. It's a veritable Who's Who of the wanted lists.

<...Kess, this is startin' to get really freakin' weird. We can't fight all of these guys. We'd have to get one of 'em alone.>

<I know, and that might prove impossible. We did come here to relax.>

<But are we really gonna miss this opportunity?>

<We might not have a choice in the matter.>

Keshin then resumes control and states in a surprisingly clear voice, "Complicated bunch of people here, isn't it? Dangerous in many respects, powerful, or simply desired in strange ways so far outside of war. I wonder how we all ended up in the same Bar like this, all with the desire to rest our weary bodies."

((Holy christolas....I guess my fears about the bar dying out were completely unfounded.  Four pages....FOUR...in the last 12 hrs.  Dang guys.))

Ossanlin listens to the entire exchange quietly.  Terenia was truly a human...quite interesting indeed.  He knew of no other humans whom had even met Andalites, and she had become one.  He watches as Claxter steps out and winces at the harsh words directed at him.  Ossanlin understands what it's like...the first battle in a bloody, terrible war could...unhinge anyone.  The only way to deal with it was to build calluses.  Hard calluses that never really stopped hurting, but just dulled the pain.  He was quite young...he looked to be younger than Alic even.

Ossanlin turns his main eyes on Alic for a moment, squeezing his arm tight around her torso and sends her a private thought-speech.  <<I think Claxter needs an ear and maybe a little advice...I'm going to go talk to him.  I think Terenia could use the same from you...you two have quite a bit in common.>>  He smiles and wraps his tail around hers again for a few moments before trotting out the door in the direction Claxter had taken off in.

Ossanlin turns his trot to a slow gallop, chasing after the younger male.  As he catches up, he slows to a trot again, walking next to Claxter.  <I can understand what you're going through...the first battle is always the toughest, and it doesn't matter if you're 17 cycles or 60.  It gets...gentler I suppose, but it's never pleasant.  And of course the Bar.  Oh the bar has quite an effect on people.  I know what they teach us on the homeworld, and it's a load of datsic, but it's hard to get over it, having it drilled into your head for 15 or 20 years.>

Ossanlin looks at Claxter with his main eyes, his swords swaying antithesis ever-so-slightly to his trot.  <I've heard of your Prince, and I certainly do not agree with his methods.  He's rather full of himself and his position.  I don't believe I can change his ways, not alone...but it is not unheard of for Warriors to transfer between ships.  If you want to go back to your Dome Ship, I can give you fuel or a fresh fighter from the Tyrennian...or, if you should desire, I can take care of the red tape and have your post transferred to the Tyrennian.  It's up to you of course.>  Ossanlin smiles with his main eyes and looks out toward the forest.  <You know, I never realized, this little planetoid always experiences perfect temperate weather.>

(Yeah Oss, we've been trying really hard. Though things are bound to calm down again. It's bound to get real active when new people show up, and possibly become the center of attention.)

<You would allow me to transfer to your ship? I'm honored! Yes I think I could do better if I'm working under someone different. Thank you.>

<Always temperate, huh? What if something comes by that's evolved for freezing temperatures, or desert climate? I wonder if someone built this place for a certain purpose.>

<By the way, what are those swords for? You don't actually fight with your arms, do you? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's a tad unorthodox.>

Parker takes a seat at the bar spins around to face the door and leans against the bar to relax. He hears a sharp knock behind him so he turns around and he sees that the BT slammed a glass behind him and is giving him a scowling but quizzical look.

"Nothing for me."

The BT continues his stare and then glances toward the door.

"Hey, if you have a problem with loitering, you should kick out half the 'people' in here. Calm down."

The BT stands straight again, grabs the glass he slammed and resumes drying it. He forms a smug impressed smile and moves to the next occupant. Parker spins back around and resumes lounging. When he tilted his head back he caught sight of Zoshonel.

"Hey, 'Draco', How're the shadows treatin' ya?"

"You're quite welcome," Corliss replies to Terenia.  "Just don't forget that not all Yeerks or Andalites are instantly your enemies."

He grins at Keshin.  "You know, I often wonder about that meself.  I reckon everyone needs a break in a neutral place sometimes."

<Let's hope it stays neutral,> he adds grimly.  Corliss watches Ossanlin trot outside and feels suddenly a bit more vulnerable.  He could take care of himself in a fight, but this dual-entity bounty hunter was unnaturally quick and efficient at their job.  The more friends he had standing around, the more neutral the whole place felt.  He leans heavily on the bar.

<She can't take all of us on at once, mate,> says Mike, echoing Keshin and Joanne's internal conversation.  <Even she's not that bloody mental.>

<No, she probably can't.  But we won't be in the company of friends forever.>

<So?  Let me take control and we'll just get rid of 'er while 'er guard's down.>

<They're quicker than that.  Anyway I just don't want to chance it.  Maybe Keshin is right, we can just remain nice and civilized.>

<Yeah.  Like Switzerland,> Mike says dryly.

Outwardly he just rubs at the stubble on his chin, frowning at the bar counter.

((yeah.. we just couldn't contain ourselves last night! ight be less active for me today.. appointment with an attorney and i have a chiro appointment that'll be taking up a few hours))

<<Okay dear..  I think Terenia and I will get along just fine.>> Alic smiled at her other half as he went after Claxter. Poor kid, she couldn't imagine ever being cooped up on a ship constantly having to answer to someone.

Alic returned her attention to Terenia. <Understandable. I tried to do it alone for quite some time myself.> She didn't want to push the conversation much further, the girl had definately discussed more than Alic was sure she intended to.

Parker glances over at Corliss and gives him a nudge, "Chin up bud, I may be a newbie here too, but I got your back."
