<Wow. Just...wow.> claxter said at all of it. Both terenia and Alic had run away from the war and spent years on Earth? Years? certainly he was scared of the war, but at least he wanted to return shortly. He didn't know what to say?

<corliss, I can tell you NO Andalite would give another species the ability to morph. The last time we gave technology to one of the lesser...I mean another species, I'm sure you know what happened. Earth must be a wonderful place, though. Andalites going there and finding it hard to leave. Yeerks considering it the Class Five Species planet. This day has certainly been mindblowing.>

<Yes, because Andalites are so spectacularly wonderful,> Terenia shot at Claxter, unable to keep a touch of contempt from her voice, <No Andalite ever would slip up and do something they shouldn't. Certainly not run away from the war they're so invested in.> She snorted and scuffed her hoof.

<Mind your temper, idiot> She added, speaking only to herself.

<Yes, but eleven years? I mean I admit I'm a coward. My first battle was brutal and I was obviously not ready. But how can you turn a blind eye to the Yeerk threat for eleven years? There's cowardice, and then there's...that!> Claxter took a few seconds to calm himself. <I do want to help win this war, and I don't plan to hide anywhere. However, I realise that there are things out here that they just don't tell you about. I feel like all my aristh training has been inside a bubble, but now that I'm a warrior that bubble is broken and I need to grow up and deal with it. That is, if I want to become the kind of Prince I need to be.>

<You don't know anything about me,> Terenia says, eying Claxter coldly, <So don't you dare assume. I am a lot of things, but a coward is not one of them. You're in the real world now, and no one stops being an aristh overnight. My suggestion to you is to start by throwing your preconceptions of this war and your place in it to the wind.>

Corliss smiles dangerously at Claxter.  "Yes, I think I know what happened there.  But couldn't someone have let it happen, mistakenly?  Or purposefully, but unbeknown to anyone of importance to the Andalites?"

He glances at Terenia, doubt clouding his expression.  "You weren't aware of the presence of The Sharing on Earth in all that time?  Ah, well, of course, if you are what I think you are.  Only a well informed Andalite would immediately know the Yeerk Empire's method of infiltration on Earth.  A human wouldn't.  That's the whole point of the thing, innit?"  Still, the way she speaks about the war...if she is human, she's been Andalite for a long time.

Claxter decided to go outside and get some air and food. This place was too weird. The andalites were weird, the Yeerks were weird, and he was beginning to think everything he had been told besides how to tailfight, shoot a shredder, and fly a fighter was twisted and inaccurate. Maybe something wtrying to teach him a life lesson by bringing him here, if one believes in guiding forces. He would indeed return to his Domeship, but perhaps a few days here wouldn't hurt.

Corliss watches Claxter leave and turns to the bartender.  "Was it something I said?" he asks rhetorically.

Alic didn't want to believe that Terenia was human either.. but... Corliss made sense.
She narrowed her eyes at Claxter. <Do you not know what is going on over on Earth? These humans have no idea, and apparently neither do you. No one is over there helping them, and like Corliss said, the yeerks are everywhere in secret.  Visser 3 is there, and that's one of the reasons I spent so much time on Earth myself. It's not a safe place for an andalite to be.>
She made sure she got her words in before Claxter exited. How could they not be aware of the invasion? Most likely, it wasn't a top priority. Alic huffed, ashamed that her kind would dismiss such an intelligent species to be destroyed.

<Visser Three...> A look of frustration and fear passed across her face, which she covered up quickly by giving Alic a gracious nod, <Thank you. Very few seem to understand the situation on Earth. It is...irritating at times, to see how some Andalite's respond. In fact, you are the first I have met in quite some time to show some sympathy for the planet I once considered my home.>

She scuffs a hoof and gives them all a wry smile, <I'm afraid I am not too terribly good at controlling my temper when certain topics are approached. Apologies.>

"I'm not going to try to make excuses Alic.> Claxter said before the bar door closed. <We know the Yeerks are there, and the Humans can't get rid of them on their own. I don't know. At this point, I don't think I know much of anything.>

"Well what the bloody Christ do you think we're trying to do?" Corliss adds.  "Risking my metaphorical neck for a planet of aliens wasn't very high on my list of interesting careers.  But for better or worse, those are the cards we were dealt."  He frowns at Terenia.  "I have to ask you, if you were human, how did you come across the Andalite morphing power and not know about Yeerks at the same time?  What sort of Andalite would give you this power and not warn you of your planet's danger?"  Maybe he really was wrong, and she might not be willing to tell.

<Will you stop dwelling on it?> his host snaps.

<Can't help it, mate, it could be a human nothlit, furthermore in Andalite form!  Oh, I hate myself for even thinking this, but I really want to see what's in that head of hers.>

Alic gives a sad smile in response. <I know all too well....> Seeing as most everyone knew the situation, she saw no reason not to open up to Terenia. Alic kept her speech from Joanne, because it was none of her business. <Not only have I made friends there that need protection, my father is there as well. Visser 3's host, Alloran.. This war has become very personal for me.> Alic looked away for a second, and tried to keep things light.
<My temper doesn't have a way of controlling itself very well either.. No worries. This place is used to angry young females.>
Alic was thinking what Corliss had just asked, and left it up to him for now. She didn't want to have too many people pressuring Terenia for answers.

So her father was Visser Three's host? Figures he'd be wrong in thinking her a coward when she must have been there for years trying to save her father. It must have been hard trying to save her father from such a notorious Visser. Maybe if Earth was so important he could try to go there, but he didn't want to do something that big without reporting to his superiors. He would just try to fight where his Domeship took him and become a Prince.

Terenia shrugs, <Well, I suppose my making a scene has already put me out there more than I intended. I can't hurt my cause any worse...> she hesitates, still a little uncomfortable with sharing. Taking a deep breath, she decides that a small piece of the story wouldn't hurt. <A long time ago, I was an unfortunately curious human child who stumbled upon something I shouldn't have. Long story short, I ended up on an Andalite Dome Ship. They were going to return me to Earth, erase my memory and all that jazz, but the aristh on board was, well...not cut out for war. She stole an Escafil Device, and we made a switch. The Princes noticed eventually, of course. I can't exactly do quantum-level physics now, and I was eleven then. But by the time they figured it out....well, it was too late.>

Terenia looks at Alic in open surprise when she mentions who her father is. Suddenly this entire situation has become a lot less comfortable. Evidently, this place truly is a crossing of several universes. <You...are Alloran's daughter?>

<That just opens up so many questions I don't know what to start with. Why did you sign up for that? What about your Human family?> Claxter said, looking in from a window as he fed outside. <How did the Aristh get an escafil device?>
