"Really?  Hmm," Myitt murmurs, "that's very interesting.  I've never seen a planet with quite this much ecological diversity before, although certain geographic features are fairly commonplace.  You said there were many animals and plants on your planet, as well?  How many people are there on Anarion?"

"I'd say roughly, Millions, possibly 200. With our long life spans, we've grown quite numerous. However it seems Humans have expanded even further. We've kept a balance with our wildlife. We mostly settle in non-wooden areas; and we only use lumber that we've harvested."

Myitt nods.  "Humans try to coexist with their planet, for the most part, although their industry is so prolific that it's endangering that balance.  I suppose that was to be expected, eventually; there are over six billion humans on Earth."

Mar nods calmly. "With the population increasing an an almost exponential rate, even if the Yeerks do not take over the planet human beings may destroy themselves. Many appear to be trying to stop this from happening, but there aren't enough of them to make any real difference."

Mar grins a bit. "Such is the result of unfettered curiousity and greed. Is your race simply less industrial or less self-obsessed, Thordon? ...probably both, from what I'm hearing. I think I'd have a number of problems there."

"We're just less self-obsessed. Our buildings seem similar, and we have Electrically conductive streets to aid our hovering, but we don't expand out as much as we expand upwards. Also, the lower numbers help tremendously. We only mine in naturally made canyons and we travel to our water sources."

"Yeerks won't take over the planet," one of them says gratingly.  Possibly Tara.  "And some of us are trying to stop global warming and all that crud.  If Dubyah and half the other world leaders get their asses in gear.  I swear, I don't know what I'll do if he's elected to another term."

((Hahaha, funny stuff Myitt.))

Thordon wanted to give his opinion on the situation, but decided he did not know enough of the situation to comment.

"So I take it these Humans don't have much balance in their lives?"

Breekan grins. "You know, given that the Yeerks could grant humanity a ticket off the rock they've ruined, the humans might be better off. Maybe they'd be willing to cut a deal?"

With Myitt's offer to take him back to Earth, but in a time far in the future where he's from, he said to her

"Well, it's a great idea, but if I find any relatives, how do I prove to them that I am who I say I am? If I say that when I dissapeared I traveled through the future they will probably say I'm crazy!"

With that little speel off his chest, he took another deep gulp from his drink. Replying to Gaz's offer to join them on their crew, he said "Thanks for the offer, but I'll see if I like Future Earth first."

Mar shakes his head at Breekan, chuckling a bit. "No. Humans have far too much pride for that sort of thing, and the Yeerks would find a way to dupe them in either case. If they had any idea what was going on, at least ten percent of the population would fight it to the very last man. Even though you are just kidding."

Mar then glances at Thordon and nods. "Human beings have little to no balance. With the right sociological factors in place they can be made to commit almost any atrocity, for sometimes no other reason than that an authority figure told them to. Or they can fight against the worst tyrannies of the world with little concern for their own lives. You can't really generalize a species like that except to say that they're all a little mad."

"It is possible for the Yeerks to win, otherwise it wouldn't be considered a Class 5 species. Though with Visser Three in charge it's iffy. He was very lucky in the beginning of the war, since he managed to take the Hork-Bajir Homeworld and an Andalite host. But most of what came after was him riding the coattails of his past exploits. The Humans are lucky visser One is not in charge, as she is the one who set up the slow infiltration. I'm not sure why she cares, though. Even if they went into open war, and killed two or three billion Humans, it would still be a great victory for the Empire."

"Well, it seems like they do have some balance, it's just on a more grand scale than most. With so many inhabatants, certainly they're not all so horrible, especially if these 'aliens' are willing to fight for them."

"Uh, guys, don't forget there are at least two humans here in this conversation, and a few more over there," says Myitt, nodding over at the pirates.  "You can't generalize about all of the human race like that.  Sure, most of them are crazy, even their brains are crazy--they're practically split in two.  But individual humans can be quite balanced and compassionate.  On the same token I think some Yeerks and some humans would be able to compromise and work with each other, even on a grander scale than our little militia.  Definitely not all, but enough to make a difference, and yeah, maybe help the damn planet while we're at it.  If the Empire takes the victory then I'm sure they'll do some remodeling that would probably make things even worse, at least for most of the indigenous species.  The planet would continue to function, pollution would all but cease, but the place would still be dead.  Usurped."  She smiles a little.  "Parasitized."

Breekan crinkles his nose. "Split in two? How the hell does that work? Is one in case the human gets cut in half, so the halvs can retain semi-normal function?"

Mar pauses upon hearing Breekan's comment and then shrugs. "Honestly I have no idea how or why that sort of thing would evolve. But it does appear to actually work. And as for what happens when one half ceases to function...well again, I'm not sure. But I know that the human mind has workable functions on each side, but the two sides aren't copies of one another."

Mar holds a hand to his forehead. "As for any human being balanced...I'd have to disagree with you, Myitt. I agree that human beings can keep themselves sane long enough to do truly impressive and even compassionate things. But I wasn't making the argument that they were all the same, exactly. Merely that almost all of them succumb to temptation very easily if you push the right buttons and defy the very compassion they claim to have."

Mar smirks, pacing around Myitt and leaning over her a bit. "But I suppose all people are this way, from any race."
