Mar shakes his head rapidly, waving his left gauntleted hand back and forth. "No, no. I have a significantly better reason than that. Well..." Mar pauses a bit. "...several reasons, actually."

Mar brings up another screen, which appears to show a rather adorable black squid-like anime creature eating something shiny and becoming larger and nastier. "First off, there's a reason I have a no refunds policy. I need to eat mana constantly in order to be considered a being and to have power at all. I no longer have any energy of my own, and every time I use my abilities I further waste what I have. So I have to keep on gathering energy if I plan to keep my consciousness."

Mar then closes this screen and stares off a bit. "The second reason is to prove something. I'm in this business because of an argument between myself and another of my sort. I believe that mortal beings have no perspective and no unity, and continuously make poor decisions that make even their own kind suffer horribly. Because of this, they shouldn't have control over their lives anymore. The vast majority constantly choose greed and bigotry over any selfless act." Mar smirks a bit. "If I can get people to give away the immortal cores of their existence for power, lust, and greed...then I effectively prove my argument through action. Even if it could be said I'm provoking a few of them, it is up to them in the end to make the right or wrong decision about the matter. Although..." Mar glances at Myitt with an interested, confused look. "...there are a few cases in which someone will give it up in a selfless gesture."

Alic shrugs and smiles. "alien probe, flu shot. Same difference!" Surely he must know by now that she wasn't being herself. But yet she would continue until he admitted it.
"its ok to be off. Freedom is definately my choice." Alic ordered another bright yellow corona.. With a lime. She was thinking about the look on his face if she could only get him to taste the lime.

Myitt gingerly crosses her arms, adjusting her jacket around her bandaged and healing arm.  "Hmm.  Then what do I prove, Mar?  That your rules don't matter, and you can force people into handing you their souls regardless of whether they're selfless or not?  It may be terribly hypocritical of me, but I think I have the right to have control over my own life."

((I saw a link to an Engineer pic on the board a while back, when you introduced him...))

Ardiss starts in surprise when Temrash so casually removes himself from his host. She stares at Jagill for a long time, watching in fascination as he downs the Pepsi, making absolutely no hostile moves towards the canister holding his Yeerk.

<Astounding> Ardiss says silently, <That Hork-Bajir could gain it's freedom easily. It could squash Temrash like a bug, and yet does not.>

Mar glances at Myitt tiredly. "You prove that there are exceptions to my opinion. That selfless mortals exist. That I have a true precious. Little else."

Mar drums his fingers idly on the jewel on his gauntlet, but producing no images. "As for your second comment...first of all, I've already explained why refunds are impossible. Secondly...I'm not controlling your life. I promised this Bar I would not interfere with it at all, if you remember. What I'm controlling is your death. Not how you die but what becomes of your essence afterwards. This is not something I'm even capable of giving back to you now."

Mar rolls his eyes. "If you're so obsessed with the tangible and what you can see, you will make little progress in understanding the emptiness that comes over you every time you see me."

<I guess it's safe to say Jagill is voluntary.> Christine said. She wasn't sure if she should be worried about a drunken Hork Bajir sitting next to her with no Yeerk to control it.

Jagill noticed terenia looking at him. "You're boring. Have more fun." He said, and placed an unopened bottle of pepsi in front of her.

Shal and Keiredan disappear completely from the view of those at the bar, into the woods. The two pause a few hundred yards into the woods. Shalner stares at the boy and then glances at a spot directly in front of them in the clearing they stand in.

Keirdan clenches his jaw and stares at Shalner, waiting rather impatiently.

Shal rubs her eyes then glances back toward the bar, obviously unhappy about what the boy is trying to make her do. She stares down at him, unsure of how to handle the situation.

<I do not think I have ever seen a voluntary Hork-Bajir,> Ardiss says dubiously, <They are too stupid to understand the concept of cooperation. It must be a defective host, or perhaps it was taken in infancy so that it does not understand the concept of freedom.>

Ardiss delivers Jagill a tight-lipped smile, glancing down at the Pepsi. "What, they don't have bark flavored?" She says sweetly.

<Can't say I know much about Hork-Bajir to say anything about that. He might simply be trained to obey commands. Like a dog.>

Jagill looked at Ardiss like she was a genius when she mentioned bark flavored soda.

"I want it to be bark flavored." Jagill told the Barkeep. He went to the back and produced a glass of pepsi with a piece of wood in it. Jagill tasted it, and seemed to be thinking over which was better.

((Hahaha! Chad those two posts were priceless! +1

I haven't posted a pic of what the Engineers officially look like yet. I have yet to get there in the game. Once I get there, I'll snap a pic. I have to wait for the game because all the ones on-line are either old, or crappy quality.))

((lmao. Awesome. Pepsi and wood.))

Ardiss wrinkles her nose at Jagill's obvious transparency.

<I think you may be correct, Christine.> Ardiss says, reluctantly using her hosts name for the first time, <This creature is simple trained to obey. Too stupid to see an opportunity. Like a dog, indeed.>
