Ardiss sighs at everyone's obvious interest in the child. She had gathered from conversations that he was more than the typical aggravating kid, but in her mind he was still just a crying brat. She distracts herself by stretching one hand out in front of her and inspecting the skin of her new host. Flexing the fingers, she tests the muscles, watching the joints and tendons pull in fascination.

<You are certainly more physically capable than my last host,> Ardiss compliments mildly. She catches a glance of her reflection in her drink, <and you don't have a wretched scar across your face. Andalite scum.>

Ardiss lowers her hands and they check her waist automatically, despite this host having no holster placed there.

"Drat," she says out loud. Maybe that is why she feels so edgy. "No gun." She looks around the bar, but sees no one that she could imagine readily giving her a weapon of any sort. "I wonder where those pirates got off to," she wonders, adding silently, <I bet they would arm me, if the price was right. No point in being helpless.>

<Thanks for the compliment. Growing up a bit on the streets will get you in shape, if you can find enough to not be sickly and malnourished. Kara's scar is pretty wicked. I sympathise with both of you.>

<I think the pirates were going to go loot some ship.>

Corliss goes back to grinning at Ardiss, leaning on an arm and idly watching her stare down at...whatever she's staring at.

"What's that you're murmuring about?  Cracked, eh?" he asks her, fairly good-naturedly.  Out of Michael's habit he swings his legs a bit, combat boots kicking lightly at the bar's wooden paneling.

Corliss does, indeed, have a standard issue black and red belted holster clipped around the waist of his black uniform.  His Dracon and a few other assorted weapons--a small knife, a few deactivated detonators--fit securely at his sides.

<I was not speaking to you, human.> Ardiss says coldly to Christine. She had, in fact, been talking to her host, but the idea of a cordial conversation was still repugnant to her, <I was merely being observant.>

"I was merely admiring my new vessel," Ardiss comments aloud to Corliss, "and on my apparent lack of personal security in this place. I don't suppose you have any standard issue Dracon Beams lying around, do you?"

Christine sighed mentally. <Your three day cycle is going to be over soon, Ardiss, and Temrash is going to ask me if you've made any efforts at progress. So give me something I can work with here. You did compliment me, and I thanked you. Being snippy is not the proper response to gratitude.>

"Hmm, not that you can 'ave.  Sorry.  You know, you'll get nowhere with language like that," says Corliss snidely.  "'Vessel', eh?" He shakes his head.  "So terribly naughty."  He snickers and leans back in his chair.  "I can certainly understand feeling a bit off in this place, without a gun."  He glances around briefly.  "'ey, do you like music?  The jukebox's stopped.  Go and play something, you'll feel better about being weaponless, under forced observation by a lot of nutters in a bar."

Ardiss scowls, a flurry of frustration darkening her face. Christine is right, of course. <Why does Temrash bother with the likes of you?> she asks callously, <You are just a host. Insignificant, but for the body. Why does he care how I use this body?>

"I do not care for human music," Ardiss answers Corliss stiffly after skipping a beat, distracted by Christine. She ignores the 'vessel' jibe, "and what do you expect me to do if, say, one of the Andalites returns and decides to attack? Or if some other creature should wander in with its own agenda of violence? Such a thing doesn't seem too uncommon in this place. You are leaving me completely helpless."

"I suppose you don't trust me and Zoshonel to protect you, huh?" Temrash said. He took a blaster off his belt and put it on the table. "Here. Just keep the safety on unless you're in immediate danger. Ok?" he didn't tell her that the battery was a bit weak in there. He figured she would start asking for a weapon eventually, and had planned ahead. The best that blaster could do was stun a Human sized person. Though without very close inspection, or testing it out, it wouldn't be obvious. "And don't shoot Alic or Oss."

<There's no reason for a Yeerk to treat another sentient being like a lesser lifeform, and he realises that. Truthfully, I don't know him well. I'm also just doing what I'm told. But if that's what he wants, then that's what he wants.>

Ossanlin pulls his main eyes down from the odd stars and sees Aliciania approaching.  He smiles with his main eyes reaching a hand out to her casually as she approaches.  <I was beginning to wonder what you were doing in there.  Tired of the company in the bar?>

Corliss tenses and draws his Dracon, but keeps it low and aims it at the ground.  "What are you doing, giving her that thing?" he asks Temrash dangerously.  "I feel bad for her plight, but can't you just protect her without arming her?  I'm sorry but I still wouldn't trust her with a bloody pogo stick, let alone a dangerous beam weapon."

"What can I say? I'm generous. If I ever need to take it from her, I'll do it. But it's true that this place attracts a dangerous clientel, and I can't be in multiple places at once. Besides, I'm just trying to get her to relax a little. Nobody's in the best of moods when they're on edge."

"Thank you," Ardiss says, taking the Dracon beam. She doesn't have a holster, so she holds it at her side with the safety on, feeling much better now. She shoots Corliss a smug look before her eyes become distracted again. Ardiss is not used to having internal conversations.

<I don't understand what the whole ordeal is. You are a host, and I am a Yeerk. It is my right to control you. That is your purpose. The Empire kills Yeerks for sympathizing with their hosts. How can you protect your own species when you are getting all mottled up with a hosts emotions? I am a Yeerk, and you are a human. Those lines should remain clear. I have known those who went mad by blurring that line.>

<I'm not saying Temrash isn't crazy, but even Yeerks loyal to the Council like their hosts voluntary. As a refugee, you need as many friends as possible. Now would you rather me help you with your problem, or get someone to cage me every three days? I'm the one person you know for a fact that you can trust, if you stay friends with me. That's probably how Temrash and his host operate.>

Mar glances at the Spartan and snickers a bit, rubbing the back of his head. "Actually...the fact that I continue to exist is an accident. This form was created temporarily in order to do a favor for someone of relevance to me. I deliberately entered in a non-threatening, low-aura shape so that I wouldn't catch the attention of another higher being. I've always known. But then again, I've only been alive for a day or so."

Mar glances off, as if part of the subject bothers him. "The problem is...the mortal forms are more permanent constructions. Normally, you would have to kill one like you'd kill anyone else in order to get rid of it. I think that the nature of this Bar will allow for a normal exit, but...it seems to be more difficult in a form so distant from the whole to work up the motivation to self-terminate. We really only seem to share basic motivations and personality traits, along with a knack for the darker magics."

Mar grins wryly, holding his left side. "Heh. I tried to use magic that would be child's play for a higher form and ended up practically ripping out my left side. I didn't even know that this body was all the mass that I had."

Breekan frowns, a bit sorry at the prospect of the two having to leave. He tries to put a reassuring hand on Keirdan's shoulder. "Hey buddy, do you know where the ship is? Do you wanna go home?"
