Ossanlin stumbles as the transmission from Temrash is cut off.  He looks around wildly at the displays on the main console.  The first blast sheared a landing strut completely off and the nose pitched into the ground, causing further tremors to wrack the ship, the force of the blow pulling the Mirage back down.  The computer was quick to raise his phasic shield matrix, absorbing and deflecting the second shot.  Ossanlin tried to cycle the engines but the reverse blow and cold-start had caused them to shut down.  The emergency landing procedures bring the ship down hard from it's few feet of height...the ship undamaged aside from missing one landing strut and sporting a few scratches.

<Damn, what the hell?!  No Alic, we can't.  You stay in here, start cycling the engines again as soon as they've recharged.  I need you to get the ship running...once the engines are ready, start emergency lift-off procedure.>  Ossanlin starts back for the ramp hoping Alic won't follow him.  He knows she can handle herself, but this fight...he didn't know how it would end and he would feel much better if he had managed to get her away alive at least.  He reverses the ramp and lowers it again, trotting out.

<What is the meaning of this Asmodee?!>  Ossanlin watches the Hunter and immediately notices that the Nisraeln is shaking terribly.  Something was off.  He drew his modified handheld shredder and held it low at his side, ready to raise it at a moment's notice.  <We depart in peace and you come back and fire on my ship unprovoked!  I ask again, what is the meaning of this?!>  Ossanlin's tone of thought is calm and quiet, he doesn't appear angry, but to those who know him, it is his most dangerous tone meaning he is ready to kill if necessary.

************************************
Seran:

Seran continues to grin to himself, watching the surrounding space.

"Sir, the relay station has stopped sending recipient messages to our outgoing transmissions."

Seran chuckled unkindly...a near growl deep in his throat.  "She's here.  But too late, darling..."  The crew shy away from Seran's widening grin.  "Send out a wide-band transmission on all frequencies."

"Visser, sir?"

"NOW!"  The transmission opens to all vessels in the area.  Oh she would hear it, and hear of her failure.  "Myitt, I know you're out there darling.  You should've taken my offer you know, now you've traded the lives of every one of your precious rebellion in return for your own.  You can continue to block my transmissions if you want, but it will do you little good.  I'm not going to bother running a sensor-sweep, I know you're very good at hiding, you have been ever since you slithered out from under a rock in your little pool.  I wouldn't find you, and even if I did, I'd rather have you live to watch the destruction of your little faction.  You know, if you'd simply left the transmitter intact, I might still think you were sitting in that hovel drinking your troubles away...you might've even caught me napping at the repair station, but no, you had to destroy it and let me know you were coming.  Bravo dear, you've outdone yourself yet again.  Where's Ossanlin and his precious Dome Ship?  Did you two have a falling out?  No matter...the armada the Council sends after your silly band will wipe out your way of thinking.  I hope to be there, though it will happen whether I am or not.  I'll get my promotion either way.  Thank you for helping me deliver your friends to the Empire, you are most considerate."

**********************
Myrid:

Myrid's comm blipped letting her know she had a message waiting in her personal off-the-books account.  Good, Seran had finally contacted her, she had begun to wonder if the alliance had been profitable.  She was already in her personal chambers so she pulled out her personal transmitter and keyed open the account.

Her smile began oh so slightly and continued to grow until her entire human face was a wide grin.  Her host was aesthetic as far as human's went and the smile that lit her face would've been pretty, had it not been for the glint in her eyes.  She went to her official transmitter and went through the process of calling a Council meeting.  She saw that all Council transmissions had been halted.  Interesting...eithe r someone was playing a deadly joke and it was a huge coincidence, or someone knew that Seran had been transmitting that message, and had tried to stop it.  She was suddenly glad she had taken the pains to smuggle and hide the personal comm.

She enacted a system-wide alert with her Council priority code that she had important information that must be heard by the other twelve immediately.  No rebel militant could stop that.  She smiled to herself...today would be a red-letter day for both herself and Seran...this might be enough to put her in line for First in the Council, and would certainly put Seran in line for Visser 4 or better.  And that rebel vermin would finally be cleansed from the sky.  A red-letter day indeed.

Myitt raises a hand briefly, unable to answer Mar, because a wide-band transmission was being sent out from the Blade Ship.  She answers the hail and Seran's exultant voice streams through the cabin.

She instantly sends Reven and Corliss the encrypted codes to proceed with evacuation, and hails Seran back.  It was pointless to hide now, although she kept the ship cloaked and powered at a minimum.

"Seran, you've always been a fool," she says calmly.  "You won't find them, anyway.  We haven't survived this long by being completely stupid.  They're already gone from whatever location you think you have.  It will be a setback, but it's certainly not the end.  We are far larger and more powerful than your pitiful mind can comprehend.  As for me, if you're so sure I've traded my life for theirs, then I'm all you've got left.  Why don't you stop hiding like a slimy dapsen and come get me?"  Her voice is tight, restrained, from holding back her anger.

Kara looks surprised, hands still on the weapons, but Myitt is also able to help her control them from an auxiliary screen, if necessary.

Frowning, Alic nodded. She didn't like being stuck inside and didn't know how to control any sort of ship, but she would figure it out.
<I'm not leaving without you. So you better get back on here when I say we're ready!>
Alic begun looking over the controls to quickly get familiar with them. But no matter what she would have no use of anything unless Ossanlin was safely inside with her.

"This Nisraeln is a host of the empire now, Andalite filth. We do not look kindly on failing to capture such a dangerous controller, and hesitating to kill a Prince such as yourself. I don't care where you plan on going, but you're mine now!" Asmodee's voice said, as he drew his sword and shield. "Resistance is futile."

**********************

Temrash let out a few vulger words. "It seems Seran is on good personal terms with a Council member. I'm surprised I let such a thing slip through my fingers, but I suppose I'm not perfect. The attack force will be readied, but I have plans for that. When I meet Seran, I'll make a point to get to know him better." Temrash said. He had begun to get curious that Ossanlin hadn't responded to his call yet. Maybe he was busy. Since he was an Andalite, Temrash didn't want to bother him too much.

Zoshonel sat patiently, knowing there was little he could do.

Ossanlin's face twists a bit in disgust.  Normally he didn't show outward emotion in a battle, but the fact that he had played a large part in having this being infested, all be it indirectly, bothered him greatly.  He holstered his shredder again...he didn't want to kill Asmodee.  He needed to subdue him and detain him until the Yeerk inside capitulated or died of kandrona starvation.  That would be no easy feat given the being's size and strength...but blood-loss weakened any enemy.  He hated that he had to do it, but he didn't see any other way.  He crossed his hands and rested them on the hilts of his katana, his tail swishing back and forth sinuously over his back, his stalk-eyes watching every direction.

<Asmodee is a free being and he has a strong will.  What's wrong, Yeerk, having trouble controlling him?  He'll never stop fighting, I know that much.  And I will do my part to free him of your disgusting presence.  If you agree to leave him voluntarily, I will put you in a pool with portable Kandrona, if you do not, you will starve to death and leave him anyway.  The choice is yours.>

Ossanlin moves side-to-side matching controller Asmodee's motions step for step waiting for the next move.

******************************************
Seran:

Seran raises an eyebrow as his comms officer tells him that a return wide-band signal is transmitting.  He opens the return frequency and listens to Myitt make a last defiant attempt at distracting him.  He sneers at Myitt's laughable attempts to anger him.

"Trace that signal and set the comms to return on their frequency.  No point in broadcasting personal messages for everyone to hear."

The comms officer obeys and Seran begins to speak again.  "As I told you Myitt, I'd rather see you live to watch your rebellion crumble.  And who's hiding, dear...you're the one cloaked and shifting around in black space.  I believe my ship is rather obvious hrm?  Heat signals, venting energy, not to mention the fact that my ship is as large as the communications relay and perfectly visible.  Perhaps you're simply trying to delay me...maybe you have some of your pitiful rebel ships coming to attack me, though I would recommend they stay to defend their home.  No matter...your rebellion will be scoured from the rocks they're undoubtedly hiding in.  Your petty attempts make no difference Myitt...you're powerless in this situation, how does it feel?"

*******************************
Myrid:

Myrid made the short journey to the Council chambers and saw that most of the others had already arrived.  She smiled again as she sat in her seat.

"What is the meaning of this Myrid?"

"I will divulge the information when everyone is here, Askar, be patient."

Myrid watched the last few Council member enter, Evrin the last...well that was to be expected...she did not get along with Evrin and the feeling was mutual.  Evrin wouldn't have exactly jumped at a summons from Myrid.

"Esteemed colleagues, now that we are all present, I have some information to share with you all.  Seran, Visser 8, has come across some very interesting information.  He is a resourceful officer to say the least."  Myrid plugged her personal computer into the holo-projector and loaded the map Seran had sent him, highlighting coordinates.

"This is out in barren space Myrid...what is the meaning of this?"

"Indeed, we would like an answer as to why you so rudely used you emergency meeting protocal."

Myrid only smiled, savoring their ignorance for a moment longer, before continuing.  "This, my colleagues, is the location of the Yeerk rebellion's home base."

There were some audible gasps from Council members and even Evrin sat forward in her seat.  This was news indeed.

"What is your proof, Myrid?"

"Seran tracked the ship of a well-known rebel operative...she goes by the name Myitt now, we all know her.  It seems she was careless about sweeping her ship for trackers.  She travelled to this area of space."  Myrid changed the holo to show a sphere of space highlighted in red... "Her signal cut out at this location...result of a dampening field.  By triangulation, Seran determined the base to be on this class 3 planet or very close to it.  We must move now, there is no other option.  We must dispatch an armada and put it under Seran's command.  He will be scouting the area soon."

There was a long silence before a Council-member nodded slowly.  "Yes, we must dispatch an armada."  Slowly all the others came around and Myrid grinned to herself.  The armada would be dispatched within the hour and be there before main-cycle nightfall.  A red-letter day to the last.

"Hahahah! You think I would give up such an opportunity to kill you? Yes, he resists. They all do at first. But let's see how well he resists when I force him to eat you alive, and play back that memory over and over. Or perhaps I will use him to take his homeworld, and prove that even a class four host species can be conquered by the Empire." Asmodee's Yeerk said, then charged.

*******************

Zoshonel got up and took a look at Seran with interest. He didn't say anything. One should always be careful with their words when speaking to the enemy, and that included not speaking unless necessary.

((I think it's an audio only feed Chad, but no worries ^^))

Corliss looks down from his perch up at the upper manual weapons controls, lowering his personal link.  "Well, Reven and everyone at the base are aware of the situation," he says to his comrades.  "They'll keep evacuating like they have been.  I will have to rendezvous with them as soon as I can, if we get out of this in one piece.  Gaz, how long until we emerge from z-space?  We need to catch up to Myitt and her crew as quickly as possible, they might be in danger of a firefight."

---

"Actually, it's rather nice," Myitt says thoughtfully.  "Allow me to clarify: You're hiding on board that big, ugly hulk of a ship, hiding behind shielding and Dracon cannons and hoping you'll get that promotion by sending instant messages."

She slowly brings the ship around so the twin Dracon cannon are aiming at the heart of the Blade Ship.

Gaz checked her computer and said, "Well, get ready because we'll be emerging in less than 2 minutes."

There was a slight humming sound for a moment and then it was quiet again.

"Colors stowed, Cap'n," Fletch's voice said through the comm.

"Excellent," Gaz replied, "we can at least start out with the element of surprise."

Gaz glanced around and it suddenly occurred to her she should probably explain the pirate lingo. "In case you're wondering stowing the colors is reference to the cloaking shield."

"I figured as much." Christine said. "I'll be ready to fire on your command, Captain.

"Try your best to get behind and under the ship. It will put us in the best attack position, but there's a greater risk of them realizing we're not friendly." Temrash said.

Breekan tethers himself down with a deep breath, something warm and nebulous rising in his gut. "Something nice about a battle that doesn't come at you out of nowhere," he says. "Less panic, more excitement. Like flying, but you might get sucked out into a hard vacuum where all the liquid in your eyeballs boils away instantly." He clears his throat. "Maybe I should stop talking."

"All hands, prepare to drop speed!" exclaimed Gaz, she was using her "pirate captain" type voice now. "We'll be coming at her from the stern so if we have to decloak we'll take 'em by surprise."

Gaz pushed the comm again and said, "Fletch, I need you to keep an eye on the colors and our sails."

"Aye, Cap'n," Fletch replied. "I'll handle things down here."

"Colors, I like that," Corliss grins.  "'ey, Breekan, I for one am glad to 'ave you along in any fight, whether you remind us of how bloody awful it is to die in the cold, unforgiving vacuum of space or not."  He swivels the chair around, peering through the manual weapons aiming device. "Be prepared for anything, yeah?  Could be they've already started trading shots.  If not, we don't want to be the first ones going in shooting.  Dunno what you blokes know about Blade Ships, but they are heavily armed and powerfully shielded.  It in't gonna be like shooting ducks in a barrel."  He double checks his old fashioned restraints in preparation for the drop into real space.

"I think I'm still aware, but it's good to make sure everyone who probably hasn't owned one in the past is aware." Temrash said.

"My first Yeerk gave me a tour once." Christine said. "Does that help?"

"Possibly." Temrash said. "Let the computer do some of the work, but try not to rely on it too much."

"Everything in moderation." Christine said.
