"Eight, huh?" Temrash said, and sighed. "I should probably know him. He was only a rank or two away from me. Maybe he just never did anything to get under my skin, or hamper my personal goals. Thanks Myitt. That helps." Temrash then signed off to try to get in touch with Oss, to see if he knew anything that would help.

Shal turns, and takes the weapons station opposite Breekan. She glances at him, a wary expression on her face.

Breekan flashes Shal a thumbs-up. "It'll be fine, Sis," he offers. "I reckon Gaz wouldn't find her way to the bar if she wasn't a crackerjack pilot." He strategically fails to mention the fact that hardly anyone would end up at the bar on purpose...

Asmodee returns to the bar. He gets out and heads to the bar, but his body begins to shake. With blaster in hand, he takes a look around, noticing the absence of ships that were here before.

Gaz checked the console in front of her then pressed a button that activated the ship's comm system.

"Fletch!" she said. "ETA to hot spot is 15 minutes. Stow the colors."

"Aye, Cap'n," came Fletch's reply.

Gaz couldn't contain her grin of excitement. The time was coming where she would get to do what she did best.

Ossanlin chuckles a bit as he stows the communicator. <Perhaps you need to consume less alcohol and open your mind, Aliciania.  I just asked if you would like to accompany me on the Mirage to go haring after Seran.>  He smirks a bit as he starts walking to his ship.  <I would sure appreciate the company.  Especially company as pleasant as yours.  Not to mention the ship runs better with two pilots.>

He continues walking, trusting Alic would not turn down the chance to go after Seran and maybe see some action.  Just as the hatch opens and he boards the ship, he sees the Hunter Asmodee returning from his refitted ship, walking towards the bar.  Ossanlin ****s his head for a second and then continues up the ramp.  He walks up to the main console and begins to cycle the engines while he waits for Alic to follow him up the ramp.

His communicator blips and he plugs the transponder into his main communications array to boost the signal.  <We're just getting ready to take off.  Did you intercept him at the outpost?>

**************************
Seran:

Seran watches the main viewer idly when his second breaks the silence.  "We're coming up on the relay point sir.  Readying the drop to real-space."

"It's about time.  Transmit security code 271 Alpha.  I've already recorded the message."  Seran grins to himself at his forethought.  The time that had passed in z-space had given him time to think...if Myitt knew where he had been, she might have a way to find out where he was going, or she might yet remember the locations of the communications relays.  She would certainly be in pursuit, but how far behind was she?  It had prompted him to make a pre-recorded message with the emergency Council code as well as the personal cryptographic code of his friend on the Council.  Well, perhaps "friend" was the wrong term...associate more like.  They had allied to each other both for personal gain.  It had been a beneficial relationship for them both.  No other Yeerks could decode the message.  That was the trouble delivering a recording instead of a live communication...any one could try to listen before it got to the proper ears, but the message was certainly safe.

The Blade Ship dropped from real-space in sight of the communications relay.  "Now, transmit it NOW."  Seran stood as he issued the command and got results.  The transmission uploaded into the relay station and the station processed his request.  The message beamed off into z-space along the transmission conduits designed for quick transmission, configuration of z-space played a minimal role, affecting transmission by no more than a few minutes.  Andalites did possess such wonderful technology.  Not for the first time Seran silently thanked Seerow and called him a fool.

"Transmission successful sir.  The homeworld should have it in short order."

"Good, good.  I think we shall hold here for the return message.  I would establish a direct correspondance with the Council if possible.  If not, at least they will receive the important information.  Oh, Ekrat?"

"Sir?"  Ekrat's voice was meek and questioning...it made sense given his fear of Seran.

"Raise the osmotic shields."  Seran silently thanked Ossanlin for that bit of technology, fragment the energy instead of block it, a harmless wash of energy bathing the outer hull.  It took so much less energy.

"Sir?"

"Do as I say Ekrat and do not question me, or you shall find yourself locked in a very small pool with one temporary kandrona generator."  Seran let the implication do it's work and the shield erected around the ship.

"I expect a visit from an old friend."  Seran's smile was anything but pleasant.

<Less alcohol. Good idea.> Alic mutters as she follows Ossanlin onto the ramp. She tried not to seem nervous but knew she would fail. Feeling childish she took a deep breath and didn't look back at the bar, or she might have decided to stay.

Ossanlin smiles a bit as Alic trots up the ramp after him and he punches the controls to close the ramp.  He starts the take-off cycle and the ship begins to levitate from the ground.  He waits to hear from the transmission array...he assumed it is Myitt who has contacted him.

Suddenly, a powerful beam from Asmodee's ship lanced towards Ossanlin's, with attempt to disable it. Asmodee charged towards the ramp, his shaking stopped, and made no attempt to hide his intentions. "Die, Andalites!" He yelled, once he was close, and brought his weapons to bear on Alic.

******************

Temrash was issuing orders over his communicator. "I want all messages directed to the council to be put on hold as long as possible. I don't care what message it is. If any message aimed at them does not reach a member directly, I want it put on hold for whatever reason you can come up with."

"If that doesn't work, and they ready an attack force, I want one of my people to be with the commander of the fleet. I want to know who it is, and every order they issue. If it comes to an attack, I'll want to know everything."

The rumble from the explosions cause Alic to stumble into the ship. <What the ****!?> She threw herself against the wall on the side of the hatch. All she had for protection was her tail, she didn't use shredders or other weapons. But there was no way she could face him one on one.
<Oss! Are we ok to get the hell out of here?>

Asmodee made an attempt to fire. As he did, his arm began shaking, which caused him to miss. He continued running to the launchpad, as his ship drew closer.

"They're dropping out of z-space," says Myitt tersely, her attention on the colorful screens hovering in front of her.  "We're fully cloaked, and I'm going to set the ship's systems on auxiliary power.  We don't need a Blade Ship picking up any residual heat signals from our engines."  She taps a couple of icons, sliding them to one side, and the cabin's lighting dims.  A whirring noise indicates the ship has shifted full remaining power to the cloaking device and the z-space drives, making the floor thrum under their feet.  Once they emerged into real space their main engines would be able to do little else than provide very basic thrust and maneuvering; their risk of being detected increased exponentially the more powerfully the engines were used.

Silently and invisibly the Cruiser materializes back into real space, floating along some distance away from the Blade Ship.

"Hah hah!" Myitt crows.  "How's that for tailing someone?  We're lucky we didn't emerge right on top of them!"  She looks back at Zoshonel, Mar and Kara.  "Is everyone okay?"

Kara nods.  "I'm still in one piece," she says, looking a bit green.  The jump had been rather quick, a necessity when z-space was ready to shift again at any moment.  She grips the weapons controls but doesn't press anything, cautiously maneuvering the red triangle that indicates where it is aiming.  It hovers erratically, drifting from one end of the glowing white holoscreen to the other, passing briefly over the blue flashing signal that indicates the Blade Ship.

"That's odd," Myitt murmurs.  "He's raising osmotic shields.  And here I thought he didn't care about the environment."  Her communicator beeps and she answers it hastily.

"Myitt?  Come in.  Hello?"  Corliss' message from at least an hour before had finally made its way through z-space to catch up with them.

Myitt hails him, recognizing the signal was outdated.  "Hey, did you call?  We're following him and I'm scanning for any outgoing transmissions.  Of course there are like, a million.  Where are you?  Maybe our friend Temrash knows where Council-bound outgoing messages are sent?"

---

After a short delay Corliss receives the reply.  "Yeah, mate, we're sort of on Gaz's ship, Temrash, Breekan, Shal and the boy are here," he responds.  "Temrash is having all messages not already received by the Council put on hold, but that's gonna raise one helluva red flag.  We do have the Council's most current codes."  He transmitted the codes.

---

"Excellent," Myitt breathes, narrowing the string search for z-space transponder relays down to ones that have been recently sent or are currently being sent with that tag attached.  "Let's hope he sent them directly and not to a signal point."  After a moment of searching, she scowls.  "Damnit, there are several returns.  Exceedingly well encrypted.  I can't read them, but I can try to stop them."

---

"You do know that's treason, don't you?" Corliss replies slyly.

---

Myitt slides a number of glowing icons to the side, heart hammering in her chest.  It had become a race against what was faster: The signals being sent with the Council codes, or her own devious anti-transmission encryption.  A sort of virus that scrambled codes into nonsense, with one catch, it had to find the message first.  There was no way of telling whether Seran had already sent the signal in the few minutes before the Cruiser had emerged from z-space, but Myitt was an optimist--for the time being.  She sat back, scanning the readouts, waiting for the returns.  Five of the eight outgoing messages had been stopped.  Six.  It held at six, with two slipping through toward their recipients.

"Cor, ask Temrash if he's had any luck," says Myitt quietly.

---

"Will do.  Temrash?" Corliss calls down from the manual weapons array.  "Myitt's trying to stop any outgoing signals, have you had any luck stopping transmissions on the receiving end?"

"My people have successfully stopped all messages that weren't sent to a council member's person computer, on the grounds that they're busy. Unless a member walks up and asks if there are any messages, they won't be getting any. The personal computers are what I'm worried about, and they haven't found any exact messages talking about the location of a rebel base. Seran is either being lucky, or quite clever. Or I'm off my game, celestial powers forbid."

**********************

"I am ready for action, Myitt. Though I'm not sure how we're going to get inside such a beast. We aren't going to bombard directly, are we?" Zoshonel asked.

"No," says Myitt bluntly.  "We're outgunned by that thing, even if we are more maneuverable.  Seran will likely suspect who we are if we're detected, and I'm sure he won't hesitate to shoot us out of the sky.  If we're lucky.  The alternative is not a fun prospect.  So we're going to follow him, nice and quiet like, and try to cut off his transmission.  If we find it's too late, then we need to help evacuate."  She glances briefly at Kara.  "Only shoot on my orders, and only if we determine he's powering his Dracon cannons."

Kara swallows, nodding.  "I think I'll manage, if it comes to that," she breathes.

---

Corliss relays Temrash's message to Myitt.  "We're going to have to hope we're very lucky, mate," he tells Myitt.

---

"Luck, don't fail me now," Myitt exhales.

"Yes, I'm fine," states Mar in response to the previous query. This certainly hasn't been the smoothest ride in existence, but it's better than nothing. Mar is unsure of the situation and wanders towards Myitt.

"What's going on?" he states carefully. "Are you and Kara alright? Do they have the message or not?"
