Elayne turned to face the Director again, her eyes narrowing. She folded her arms across her chest and said, "You misunderstand what I'm saying. I already left Earth once. In the past. That much should be evident," she said, letting one hand stray from her irritated posture just long enough to gesture at their planetoid surroundings. "The decision to leave Earth in the first place has been made; that's all I was saying. Based on my current position, I have no desire to return to Earth now."
She shifted her weight, one hip jutting out, her eyes still narrow. "You're talking about Trey as if he doesn't matter. As if he's just a tool to guide me into some decision. I'm not so self-centered as to imagine this Bar exists for me. Trey is a person, just like me--and I think just like you, although from all your sniffing, hair-tugging, and name-calling, I'm tempted to classify you as an ass." She let out a huffy sigh then turned her gaze away. "Anyway, it's not the humans I'm worried about; it's the Yeerks."
