No answer. Kara continues to tremble violently, as if she is bitterly cold. She manages to sit on the chair she is led to well enough, but her eyes are wide and terrified as she looks around the bar. She clutches onto Corliss' arm tightly, as though it were a lifeline.

"'ey, it's alright, love," says Corliss quietly.  "Just relax.  You'll be fine, okay?  Do you understand?"

Kara nods, and glances feverishly at the tupperware. When she speaks her voice is shaking as much as the rest of her, almost incomprehensible when combined with the slur that the alcohol has given her, "Did you kill it?"

Mar smiles pleasantly at the shivering Kara, as if to say "Don't worry, I'm there for you too." The poor thing. She looks so full of fear, to be out here in this strange world she's never controlled. He will love having her serve him unto eternity.

Mar rests and watches the scene unfold, well aware that he must pay attention if things are to work correctly.

"No, Ardiss is still alive," says Corliss.  "We told her we wouldn't harm her.  Here."  He snaps his fingers.  "Bartender, water, please.  Kara, yeah?  You're gonna be alright, Kara.  The tremors will stop."  The bartender brings over a glass, and he hands it to her.  "Please try and drink some of this, okay?  You've had a lot of alcohol."

---

In the cramped pool, Myitt interrupts her little chat with Temrash about redin and inspects the newcomer, mostly because they're all very, very close together.  <Who are...Ardiss?  No, I refuse to believe...did they actually convince you to leave?> Myitt laughs, sonar flickering erratically.  <No, someone, please pinch me.>

Alic watched everything in complete silence. As much as she would love to have the yeerk killed, she knew she wouldn't do it. At least not yet, maybe if she caused trouble later. With her friends all near by and set on letting the yeerk live, she would let her be.
She was shocked as the yeerk left the poor girl's body. Her hearts ached for Kara and seeing her free made her eyes smile. Knowing Kara may be afraid of Andalites due to what had happened to her before, Alic kept her distance waiting for her to speak.
She wondered what it must feel like to regain freedom, and hoped she would never have to find out.

Keirdan watches Ardiss leave Kara's ear, and asks, "Why are all of the yeerks leaving? Are they fighting with their other-people?" Keirdan gets up, and approaches the bar, wanting to look at the Yeerks.

Shal stands up approaches Kara. She smiles at the girl, and sits in a chair near her, watching in silence.

((Good lawd, a guy can't take a day off can he?  Oh and Tara, I truly lol'ed at the "Highlights" comment.  I used to love those pictures where you found hidden shapes in a drawing or painting.  :p))

*Ossanlin watches the proceedings quietly as Cor, Jagill, and Myitt speak with Ardiss.  He raises an eyebrow at the "grass-eater" comment but says nothing knowing that a Yeerk so long under the influence of the Council would merely see a demon with a tail-blade lying with a perfectly straight face.  He had said his piece, and any further comments would have no effect at all on the Yeerk.  Ossanlin gives Myitt a warm smile for her comments about friendship, and extends the smile to Jagill as the Hork-Bajir defends his honor as well.  Ossanlin does nothing more than to cross his arms and shake his head almost sadly as Ardiss spits venom at him as she is trained to do, accusing him of wanting to force her back into her pool, and declaiming that the war would not be over until the Andalites lie beaten on their homeworld under an Imperial banner.  There were so many things he would like to say, but none would get through, none would seem more than a lie to this being.*

<Breekan, I hold no more love for the being responsible for me than you do for the one responsible for you.  What I believe is that while one is ruthless, the other is purely evil, and though both are devious beyond our comprehension, their motives differ greatly.  I believe I fight for the lesser evil, I merely hope I am right.>

*Ossanlin watches as Ardiss suddenly makes up her mind in a state of inebriation and disengages into the pool with Temrash and Myitt.  He extends a thought so that all in the pool can hear.  He cannot manage to keep all of the edge from his thought.*  <You see, you're still quite alive Ardiss.  Perhaps you'll learn one day that not all "grass-eaters" are alike.  That some do not wallow in their own arrogance and see only demons when sentient beings are present.  I am not an enemy unless you hold to the Council, I hope you'll see that in time.>

*He returns his attention to the human girl.*  <I'm glad you are alright, and may I apologize for whichever of my comrades treated you so.>  *Ossanlin doesn't mention the scar, and the apology sounds hollow to him, but he can't think of much else to say to an innocent being whom had been harmed by so many, including one of his own species.*  <We will not harm you, nor will we harm Ardiss.  If you do not wish her to return to you...we will not force you to accept her again.  You're freedom is your own again, though we hope that you will listen to what we have to say.  Especially to what Tara has to say, she knows at least a bit of what you're going through.>  *Ossanlin smiles with his eyes, lowering his tail even further from its relaxed position to seem as non-threatening as possible.*

Tara remains silent when Ossanlin explains that Ardiss won't have to return to Kara's head.  She's simply not sure if that's true...yet.  "Kara, hey, we're not going to hurt you.  I know this is a lot to take in.  Just...breathe."

Corliss takes a moment to check on his sibling and the other two Yeerks, leaning over.  "'ey kiddo," he says to Keirdan, smiling.  "No poking, okie doke?  They dun like that.  Think you can tell which one's Myitt?"  His grin broadens, but he glances back at Kara, concerned.  He is still within earshot as Tara rubs Kara's shoulder, trying to comfort her shaking form.

"No pokie. No touchie at all." Jagill told Keirdan firmly. If the child grabbed Temrash, his first instinct was to break his arm. But he would behave, and only do as little as it took to get Temrash back. Or whoever was grabbed. He could recognize Temrash, even with the three of them mingled.

And here I thought it would be a convenient time to soak up some rays. Temrash thought to himself after Ardiss entered. "Well, I can't pinch you. But I'm having the same hallucination. I'm still staying in, though. I was here first." He said politely.

Keirdan rolls his eyes and responds to Jagill and Corliss, No one is 'lowed to youch Yeerks but their other-people. They might hurt them and I would be sad. They're my friends in there an' you shouldn't hurt them." He inspects the Yeerks in the pool closely for a moment, his nose nearly touching the container. "There's Myitt." he says in response to Corliss, pointing to the Yeerk closest to the left side of the make-shift pool.
Shal smiles over at Keirdan feeling a suge of pride toward the child.

Corliss peers down at the pool, squinting almost as if even he is doubting himself.  "I'll be damned," he says, smiling at Keirdan.  "Has anyone ever told you you're brilliant, little chap?"  He glances at Tara.

"How's she doing?"

"Well, she's breathing," says Tara worriedly.

"Seen this kind of thing a lot." Jagill said, looking at Kara. "No real idea about how to help, except talk nice."

Through all of this Kara has managed to reduce her violent shakes to more controllable tremors, although she seems unable to cease the movement entirely. She sits weakly in the chair and every deliberate motion seems to take time, as though she must think hard about what she is doing before her brain relays the message to her body. The barrage of kind faces is overwhelming and she feels tears spring to her eyes, falling wordlessly down her mutilated cheek.

"Don't let her back inside of me," she half mumbles, her words thick. She releases her grip on Corliss, forcing her hands into trembling fists, "I won't let her. Please," the last word comes out as a sob, and she dissolves into noisy tears.

-------

Ardiss hears Myitt and Temrash, of course. And the Andalite as well. Relieved of her host, she is finally free of the spell the alcohol cast over her, and an intense disgust wells up inside of her small body. She barely moves in the pool for a long while, filled with anger and shock at what she allowed herself to be convinced of.

<I've just lost my host,> she finally realizes, flabbergasted, <What a fool I am.>

"Be calm, Human. We will try to get you and Ardiss to like each other. Like me and Temrash. Or Tara and Myitt. And others. It can be done. I can't explain everything good. Not like Temrash can."
