Mike had been through a lot, but even so his everlasting curiosity had not died nor had it satisfied itself. He hopped up onto the counter from the bar stool and walked towards the spot behind Jess. For a moment he could see through much of her and without thinking he pressed his paw through the girls shoulder. At first he couldn't feel anything and then it felt like gelatin. But he could feel himself being pushed away and suddenly his paw was outside her shoulder, as if she were actually there. The bobcat didn't say anything and seemed to ignore Breekan, his curiosity centered on the girl. A static could be felt between his paw and her shoulder and he dropped the paw to the counter.

"There's no way in hell we're helping a bounty hunter," says Myitt gruffly.  "Unless Temrash is loyal to the Empire, and even then..."

"He's not," says Corliss, stepping gingerly over splintered wood and smoldering booths to get a better view outside the demolished bar wall.  "But he doesn't know about Seran.  Odds are the b*stard's going to try and make Temrash trust him.  Anyway, look at this, will ya?"

Myitt walks over to her brother and watches as the landing lights of Seran's ship come into view.  The ship fires at the bounty hunter's vessel.

"Well, at least Seran likes bounty hunters just as much as we do," she murmurs.  "Let him get rid of the bounty hunter.  If they land, they land.  If not...I'm not risking my life for someone I don't know."

"Maybe Temrash will know enough not to trust him," says Corliss thoughtfully.  "I didn't exactly see enough of his life to predict his actions."

Sensors showed that the landing gear had been damaged due to an improper takeoff. "Can't be helped." He said as he shot down one of the homing missles, and dodged another. He fired and hit one of the cannons that fired homing missles. The second missle came back too fast and got him in the side. "Just a matter of time before I win."

Shal shudders as Mike touches her; however, she continues to stare intently at Breekan, holding his hand to her forehead.

Breekan frowns as his eye slowly fades back to normal. "Sis? It's me, B1. Are you... are you in there?"

Mar gasps again and holds his stomach. As with the few previous apparitions, for a brief moment his clothes appear white and different, but then revert back to their standard coloration. Mar glances around nervously and then nods up at Myitt and Corliss.

"I'm...I'm fine. I'll be fine. I will follow where you lead. I will stay in case someone hurts you if you choose to help Temrash. I don't trust the situation dear, but I doubt you do either. If you leave, I suppose I will rest here and then vanish...on my own, when my status returns to normal. ....blast, why did I suddenly have to get so noble?"

At the sound of Mar's voice Myitt turns, still holding her Dracon single-handed.  "Vanish?" she says, swallowing.  "Why?"

Why do I care? she wonders vaguely.

Mar glances at her with a smile. "I suppose because I...agh...don't have any more reason to be here. I came and did what I wanted to do, and that I suppose is the end of it."

Mar glances off. "Although...it has been fun, being here. Especially considering nothing has gone my way and I've made a complete fool of myself."

"Maybe you can stay.  You're a powerful ally, you could help us."  Myitt bites her lip, wondering why her heart is aching.  She suddenly shakes her head.

<Wow.  This is...very...>

<Weird?>

<Yes.>

She clears her throat.  "But I suppose if you must leave, that's fine by me."  She turns back to the hole in the wall.  "We've got a sort of situation here, I can't be distracted."

<Why would you be?>

<I don't know!> she snaps.  <I don't even like the guy.  He gives me the creeps.>

<I'll second that.>

Seran:

*waits a reasonable amount of time and then slithers out of Kurik's ear, seeking with his palps.  The tinge in the air tells him he is in the medical pod.  Good...he drops from Kurik's head and lands with a plop on a small hard surface not far from his host's head.  He slithers along the surface and touches his palps to a node, the kandrona pool ready and waiting.  He slithers in and rejoices in the energetic feeling, but quickly gets down to business.  The pool has nodes in it to receive and transmit information, impulses...they were a Yeerk's natural way of controlling a ship.*

*Seran had long since decided that if he had to heal and he was on his own, he'd still want to control his ship even in that vulnerable state.  It hadn't taken much to rig up the hardware, the software had been a bit harder, but it did it's job well now.  That two-faced, conniving son of an andalite must've leapt up and crawled through the hatch while it was still closing.  Seran cursed himself for a minute before his palps detected a huge shock that reverberated through the ship, the pool tilting back and forth.  He quickly swims up to the nodes and uses his over-ride codes to access the ship's central computer.  The first thing he does is to enact a level 5 internal security lockdown on the ship, all doors and blast-ports closing throughout his small ship, effectively sealing the bridge, med-bay, and all other portions of his craft.  Mainly he wanted to keep himself safe from the other controller.*

*Seran sends impulses through the palps and can suddenly "see" all around the ship through photoreceptors...th en he looked at the ship stats.  Grand Gralacks did the idiot not even know what a shield matrix was?  Well Seran wouldn't take control just yet, let the controller have his fun, he does however access the shield system and erects the defensive energy matrix around the ship.  The lockdown erected from his node console effectively locked all systems not currently taking commands from the bridge.  Security, life-support, shields, nav-com, z-space drive....the other controller wouldn't be able to access them.  There was no way to remove the lock save from his console.  All the other controller could do now was maneuver with atmospheric thrusters, run sensor sweeps, and fire weapons.  It would be so easy to send a simple impulse and entomb the controller on the bridge without a whit of control, but at the moment he did want to preserve his ship, and the other controller could more easily and effectively maneuver the ship and weapons systems with the manual controls on the bridge.  If he's any good that is.*

Mar pauses at this. She wants me to stay? Precious actually seems to want me around?! ...mm. And there's Ossanlin too...I don't know what to make of this situation at all. I've never been wanted before.

"...I'll think about it, Myitt. Please do understand that I am worried I am endangering my health, and that the situation I have found myself in has been wholly alien from the start. I may not be thinking straight, especially in this body."

((Author's Note: This is true. Humans are social animals. Mar is finding himself confronted with a desire to be around and help people, which goes contrary to everything that he is. >3 ))

"I don't want you to endanger your health," says Myitt distantly.  Corliss turns and glances at her, wondering what she's going on about.  "I certainly understand the effects a human body has on one's ability to think straight."

<Hey!>

<What?  It's true.>

<I thought you were on my side.>

<I am.  Merely stating a fact.>

"Why are they taking so long?" Myitt wonders, looking outside.  "I really want to know what they're doing."

"Why don't you just stop whining and go out to your ship, then?" says Corliss.

"Even my sensory equipment won't tell me who's flying that thing," Myitt replies tersely.

Shal presses her other hand against Breekan's face. She stares at him, her face inches away from his.

A small child child slips through the front door; he's barely able to pull it open enough to pass through. He is human looking, no more than five years old. His brown hair is short and curly, and his big eyes brown. He's wearing jeans, a red knit sweater, and brown leather boots.  He stands silently next to the bartender for a moment, staring at Breekan and Shalner. He smiles, and walks to Breekan, grabbing his hand. He opens his mouth, about to "speak".

"Something happened." Temrash said aloud. The shields had come on, which was good. He supposed he should have put them up beforehand to protect against missles, but it had slipped his mind. He was still able to move the ship and fire, but when he tested other controls he found himself unable to. With the shields up, he moved quickly to hit the ****pit of the hunter's ship. The hunter made one last attempt, but the shields held. "Mush easier with shields."

<Sometimes you have one track mind.>

<It's a flaw that comes from relying on others to do some of the work, instead of trying to do everything on my own.>

<You must learn.>

<Yeah. That ship is down, in any case.>

Temrash got up, but couldn't use the hatch. "Something's wrong."

<Either there was someone else in here trying to take the ship, or our friend doesn't like me pulling a fast one on him.>

<What now?>

<I need out.>

Temrash began looking over the bridge to see how he could get out. "I'll take the chance that this guy is an enemy."

"Hah!" Myitt crows, watching the front of the hunter's ship explode.  "Whoever's in there just knocked the hell out of that bounty hunter.  Fifty points!"  She looks over at the bar counter and notices the small child tugging at Breekan's hand, opening its mouth...

"Oh f*ck, Corliss, cover your ears, man," she hisses, hitting Corliss on the shoulder.

"What, why?" he demands, turning and looking around.  He nevertheless covers his ears as best he can with one hand holding a Dracon.

Myitt can't really get a good handhold over both of her ears because one hand has a Dracon and the other is severely impaired, but she sits down in a non-smoldering chair and tries anyway, setting down the Dracon on the table and grimacing in pain as she maneuvers her right arm.  "What's he doing here?" she snarls.
