Salem had ducked behind a tree and watched as the Andalite ship took off. It started firing wildly in the direction of Blast... and... Silver? And the Andalite Salem kept seeing around. Luckily, whatever Blast had done to the ship's main shredder seemed to have had a serious effect on the ship's accuracy. Salem ducked back behind the tree- the ship didn't seem very interested in him for the moment- and tried to figure out a plan. Even with its horrible accuracy, the ship would manage to fry them eventually.
Salem felt a mixture of fear and relief when he saw Temrash's ship approach and land next to the group. He still wasn't sure Temrash wouldn't gut him, given the opportunity, but judging by the force field his ship projected, he and Temrash were on the same side this time. A ship like that one in the fray was more than enough to even the odds against a damaged Andalite fighter. As Salem watched, however, the continuing attacks seemed not to come from Temrash's ship, but from Blast and Silver themselves. The powers they displayed were incredible. Even hiding as he was, Salem made a mental note about them- he'd look into them when he got a chance.
Salem breathed a slight sigh of relief when the damaged fighter fell to the ground. He began cautiously approaching the group near Temrash's ship, but noticed a Yeerk personnel transport dropping into the clearing near the fighter. It looked like the same model ship that had followed him to this little rock, as a matter of fact... or perhaps an older version.
Nevertheless, the large, boxy ship bristled with externally-mounted Dracon-cannons. By itself, it would have been enough to eliminate a small army. As if that weren't enough, it immediately began to disgorge its own small army of Yeerk-species. These ones seemed very determined to possess the Andalite ship. They didn't seem as well trained as the elitist army that had followed him here- probably just a low-level grunt force. Still, dozens of Controllers wielding Dracon Beams were nothing to snuff at. If he tried to fight them head-on, he'd be vapor in about a half a second.
Salem kept low and skated as quickly as he could towards Temrash's ship. He caught sight of a single human-Yeerk raising a Dracon towards him, but he stopped short and ducked behind a rock, causing the Yeerk's shot to go wide, then jumped out and fired a shot from behind the tree. It wasn't his best shot, but he still managed to clip the guy's leg. The human screamed in pain as his leg from the knee down exploded in a shower of tissue and bone fragments. Salem didn't waste time waiting to see what would happen- he continued skating until he reached the point at which the force-field met the hull of Temrash's ship, just in time to see the tattoos on Silver's body fade. In this position, he was shielded from the approaching Yeerks, but only for the moment.
Many of the approaching Yeerks drew Dracon Beams and began firing at the force field. It wouldn't hold long at this rate. If the cannons mounted on the Yeerk transport itself started firing, they wouldn't stand a chance. "The hell'd I ever do to them?" Salem muttered.
"Temrash!" he yelled through the force field. "Can you let me in without dropping the entire force field? We need to get out of here! We can't fight this!"
