Ossanlin looks up at Reven again and nearly begins speaking as Terenia pipes up first. He allows her to continue before speaking again in open thought-speech. <Well, Terenia didn't really illustrate my...conditions...c learly. Efaen does not express a desire to join the Alliance as one would expect. She has, unfortunately, been completely indoctrinated with the propaganda rubbish that the Electorate is so happy to spread about. Be that as it may, she is still an individual with her own rights and opinions which she may cling to to her hearts' content. She is not joining the rebellion, which means that she will remain a charge of the Andalite military. Assuming you still accept Terenia, and assuming you agree to these terms, we will be stationing Efaen amongst the rebels. More or less, it means that we will have the capability of removing Efaen and stationing her elsewhere should we deem it necessary. Should such a measure be needed, a memory wipe involving the removal of all rebel intelligence could be performed.>
Ossanlin takes a few breaths as he thinks about possibilities to Reven's most recent inquiry. <It would be difficult to find others amongst the military that would allow a morph-capable Andalite to remain in Yeerk hands, even if those hands belong to the rebellion. I know a number of officers off the top of my stalks that would shoot me on sight for allowing such a thing to occur. I'm taking a large risk. Working with the rebellion is one thing, allowing the rebellion to have a morph-capable Andalite...quite another. I will have to consider options...>
Ossanlin switches to private thought-speech and directs it at the comm receiver. <<It is a risk for both of us...allowing her to join you. It would be much easier to simply separate Terenia from Efaen. This in itself would create several problems however. I know that voluntary hosts do not grow in groves, and Terenia is natively human...it would be more than difficult for her to be required to maintain her Yeerk form in its natural state. There is also the fact that Efaen possesses a human morph identical to Terenia's original body, this would also be a grave loss for her. Efaen would be happy not to join you, but she would not be happy fulfilling a simple role within our own military structure. She desires close-quarters situations involving combat, something she would most-likely never see aboard a Dome Ship. Given your types of...operations...s he would be much more likely to experience her desires with you. I have also sensed a bit of a connection between Terenia and Efaen...they dislike each other and yet they do not wish to be separated from what I can tell. Efaen's feelings are not as strong of course, but I believe they exist.>>
Ossanlin falls completely silent again before speaking in open thought. <I suppose I can contact my friend back home and see if he can arrange something with a member or two of the Electorate...we shall see.> In private thought to the comm and Reven, he continues. <<If we propose the idea that Efaen is being sent mainly as a spy to observe the rebellion, we may have a small chance of convincing one of them. However, this would require your absolute trust in me old friend. I know that this is not lightly given, so I will need to know one way or the other. If we station Efaen and Terenia as "spies", they will need to make regular status and informational reports to me, and I will have to choose what will be passed on to the superiors. Efaen will have to believe that her true purpose is spying, and Terenia will have to pretend to go along with it...she will have to be very careful about which thoughts are shared with Efaen. I know you cannot respond without the others listening in...if you allow it, I will attempt to contact you later from my own communications device in private. If you would like me to do so, please instruct Corliss to transfer your contact codes to me when we end the transmission, if not...well I'm sure we'll figure something out.>>
He looks at Terenia with his main eyes. <<I know that you do not like me Terenia, and I'm trying to not care. Unfortunately that is not within my character. If I truly didn't care about your well-being I would separate you from Efaen and throw you by the wayside. Many other Andalites would simply starve you and be done with it. Be that as it may, it has no bearing on what is currently transpiring.>> Then in open thought-speech. <I am certainly not a traitor, Efaen. The Electorate might not know how to actually fight Yeerks, but they most-certainly are expert at manipulating the minds of their own people. One of my greatest blessings is that I had a Prince in the Academy who taught me how to rise above all the filth the Electorate circulates and make my own decisions using what I know, not what I've been told.>
As Ossanlin finishes speaking, the idea fruits more fully in his head. Given the correct words and acts, it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to convince Efaen that he is putting on a farce for Reven...Efaen would see machinations that didn't exist...he could exploit that property as easily as he could exploit an enemy's weakness in battle. Ossanlin smiles a bit to himself looking back up at Reven.
