Fiona takes the glass and takes a sip. "That's what people keep telling me, anyway." She raises an eyebrow. "Restaurant critic, huh? I can't wait to see your review in..." she looks around the bar. "...Dive Bar Weekly." She snorts.

"As for myself, I've got a little of both going on." She taps her fingers against the side of her glass. "If you couldn't tell, I'm expecting someone." She frowns at the stubbornly closed door. "He's late. Or I'm early. Whatever." She looks back at Illim. "I don't get it. When you don't want someone around, they're there. When you do, they don't show up."

Fiona's comments stir Illim's recent memories to the surface, and he gives an irritated sigh. "And when you least expect them, they show up from beyond the supposed grave," he gripes, casting a glance towards the window but of course not seeing anyone, least of all the two he was thinking about.

He stabs his meat a little too forcefully, sawing off a bite-sized piece and poking it in his mouth. As he chews, his eyes widen. "Actually pretty decent," he remarks after swallowing.

"Anyway, yeah, I am doing a little hiding out. I need to..." he heaves a little sigh, "find something to do with myself now."

Soul Silver made her way to the opening and then stopped. Her body wasn't out there! "Problem! My body isn't out there!" She called to the others.

Evil Silver had just found the other treeline and the bar and looked around for someone to bring back with her. She put an anxious and scared look on her face as she began to look around frantically wondering if people would think she needed help and come to her aid.

Mar grins wide, which has the unfortunate side effect of showing off his canines. But it's clear he does not mean his expression in the way it appears. You'd hope. "Oh, believe me. I'm delighted that you enjoy my presence. After all..."

Mar wanders up close to Elayne and strokes the back of her head. Sometimes it's unclear even to him whether he thinks of her as a pet or a lover or possibly both. But since most people react to his presence by instinctively backing off, Elayne has been...amusing to speak with. "...well, that's just it. This persona exists because of the peculiar position of the Bar. I am afraid that if you attempt to summon me in a less oddly aligned location in time, I might come out...merely as me and not as Mar. Though I might also attempt to conform to your wishes and match this identity. If the summoning succeeds."

Fiona's own stomach starts grumbling but she ignores it. Now's not the time, she reminds herself.

"Yeah, that about covers it," she mutters. "Just when you think you've evaded them... or just when you think they're dead, I guess, in your case, they pop up and throw everything for a loop." She shakes her head. "This is why you don't get involved with people," she says, more to herself than to Illim.

"So it's sounding a little uncertain," Elayne remarks. "Any other ideas if summoning doesn't pan out?" She shifts in a little discomfort as he touches her hair, but the feeling is nice and seems harmless, so she leans against him. It's striking how thin he is; she often forgets until times like these.

Illim shrugs. "Yeah, but being alone can have its complications, too. Like... where the heck do you find Kandrona out here?" He takes several more bites, far bigger than need be.

<<Slow down...>> Serid murmurs, his voice sounding crisper now that the food is taking the edge off his hunger and the alcohol.

The man's obvious confusion when she mentioned the Douglas Adams creation made Vanessa giggle. "Sorry, never mind. It's just a book." She started to walk to the building with him, turning slightly to look at Temrash when the mons-creat- umm... alien spoke. Vanessa hesitated uncertainly, repeating his question. "What year is it?"

Trey's explanation as they walked, that the people here were from multiple time periods, made her squint. "You mean I might've gone through space AND time? Wait, I know this one. As you approach the speed of light, time increases relative to your... awww crap, this is the part of the sentence where I always fall asleep."

Finally, she answered the question. "I... I guess I'm from... Earth in... I mean, it's the modern day for me. But I guess everyone thinks that. It's 2010. You know, if that has any relevance here. We landed on the moon ummm... crap, I know this one. Like forty years ago?"

"Okay. That's a start. Yes I'm afraid not everyone on this rock is from the same universe. You could meet other Humans who are from different Earths. It's okay, though. We'll work something out. If you don't mind, I'm going to remain with my ship." He said and went back to sit in the cocpit.

The phantom creature that Vogefac fired at shuddered a bit under the fire, but it seemed to make it angry more than hurt it. It grew legs and teeth, and was starting to look like a quadrapedal predator.

<We need to find Bear before that thing finishes morphing. Or however you'd describe the transformation.> Claxter said.

Trey nodded, looking as though he had expected as much. He rubs the back of his hand over his forehead, squinting towards the bar before responding. "2010, yeah. That sounds about right. I guess." He shrugs. "I'm from a bit further along, as it happens, but I'm the only one from my time period, as far as I know." He grins wryly, "I was born in 2009. It's 2024 where...er...when I'm from."

"Other humans from different earths..." Vanessa trailed off, shaking her head. "I feel like I've gone insane."

To Trey, the girl giggled. "You mean if I get back to my Earth, I could like... find you when you're a baby?" Then she blinked, doing the math. "Wait, 2009 to 2024? Wouldn't that make you like... fifteen?"

Fiona shrugs. "I suppose. I'm glad I don't have your particular problem." She shudders. "Regular food's easier to come by." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a wallet. "It helps when you're mostly using someone else's money." She shrugs again, replacing the wallet. "Not sure what he thinks is happening to it, but whatever. Not my problem."

Trey nods, "Yeah, I'm fifteen." He gives her a wry grin, looking a bit embarrassed. "Like I said, I haven't found anyone around here even close to my age, really. Everyone here has been through...well, quite a bit more than me. In fact, one of the first people I met was one of the leaders of the Earth-based movement to protect Yeerk rights. Can you imagine?" He looks a little wistful - an expression he quickly covers up with a shrug as they reach the door to the bar. He grabs the dilapidated thing and holds in open.

"Come on in," he says with a smile. "I hope you aren't used to anything too classy."

Nodding slowly as she came through the door into the bar, Vanessa started to look around. Then she turned back to Trey with a blank look. "What's a yeerk?"

Trey's eyes narrow slightly at Vanessa's question, and he quickly enters behind her, shutting the door.

"Ah...well, that's a bit of a long story," he says mildly. "And based on your confusion I'd have to say no, if you went back to your Earth you probably would not be able to find a baby version of myself. It looks as though I do not exist in your universe."

The bar seems to have had a bit of a shift in clientele, and it has cleared out some. The result is that the bar appears to be even more dingy, with fewer bodies to block out the faded wood, broken arm chairs and unstable bar stools. Trey opts for one of the tables, designed to seat four in case anyone should join them. He takes a seat and waits for Vanessa to do the same.
