"Thanks, Elayne," Trey says as he steps off the ship. He is about to detail his gratitude, but immediately notices Mar. His mouth closes with a snap and his eyes gravitate downward to the ramp he is standing on. Trey had been hoping that he would not cross the Highest's path, but in hindsight he supposed he was lucky enough to have had as much time alone with Elayne as he had.
"Hey Mar," Trey mumbles, not meeting his gaze. Not for the first time he wonders just exactly how someone is supposed to act when in the presence of a being that could squish you with a thought. That was certainly not anything covered in his classes at the boarding school.
In between fighting off an onslaught of guilt and a tsunami of rage at all who made the events of the past day possible, Terenia finds herself idly wondering how much time has passed. The thought is automatic, after so many years of morphing. What surprises her even more than the thought is how quickly she dismisses it. What does it matter? Human, Yeerk, Andalite...it is all the same in the end. We are all just bloodthirsty, revenge driven animals, playing life out as pawns on someone elses chess board. Maybe if Tamora had realized that sooner...maybe if I had realized that sooner...
