((Sorry about that, I should know Charlotte, that just didn't click when I was posting for some reason >.< Edited))

Al laughed and shook his head. "Salem's my stick-in-the-mud partner. I usually go by Al, though anything you want to call me when I win my chips back is fine by me."

He nodded and continued speaking as the next hand began. "I've seen organics struggling time and again to find purpose, especially after achieving something great. There have actually been a lot of them in Furka in my time. You guys just need to realize that now you're free to make whatever you choose of yourselves."

***

Salem nodded and smiled at Tora. "No problem," he added quietly. She hadn't exactly warmed up to him, he could tell, but it didn't seem likely she'd be trying to kill him any time soon.

And, really, that's the best I can hope for around here, it seems.

"Oh, that wouldn't really be the most interesting issue," states Mar with an unpleasant grin. "It's just that a parasite would be a useful way of testing exactly how human this body is. I have no idea, personally. It's not like I can enter my own body. I know that I can bleed horribly and that the body can die. But that's about all I know."

Mar gestures at the Bartender, hoping the monster knows that Mar is asking for a drink. He then turns back to Fiona.  "What would you call yourself? Telling me the details is relatively insignificant. I only care for maybe three people in the entire Bar."

"I call myself whatever my current host is called." Fiona shrugs. "I assume I had a name of my own at some point, but I certainly don't remember it now." She smiles mirthlessly. "What I do isn't so much an 'infestation' as it is a 'possession.' Akin to the human idea of a demon possession, if you're at all familiar with that." She clears her throat. "Not that I'm a demon," she says, rolling her eyes. "God, no. I prefer 'spirit.' Or 'ghost' if you prefer. I must have been fully human at some point myself, but I can't remember anything before being in my current state."

She stretches her legs out in front of her. "Although I can move about in my normal form... it's just so much more convenient this way." She takes a long drink as though to prove her point. "Incidentally, if I successfully possessed you, you wouldn't have a conscious mind." She waves a hand. "Or at any rate, it would be extremely repressed."

Corliss swallows.  "And where will you go?  Back to the Empire, or to your homeworld?  Taking an unwilling person along with you, to be killed?"

---

Myitt silently walks over to the main controls and starts the engine grid sequence, tapping at the three big holoscreens that appear in front of her.  The ship chugs to life, the two bug-eye windows glowing dull crimson.

She walks over to the hatchway and pats Salem on the arm.

"I'd like to thank you for your help, as well," she says, eyeing him squarely.  "Perhaps we've had our differences in opinion, but at least you have the courage to help a stranger who has threatened you once before."

<That,> Efaen says tersely, <is also none of your concern.>

She turns around and stalks away from him, tail held high.

Corliss watches Efaen stalk off, and he relaxes just a hair.

<You're just going to let her walk away like that?> Mike demands.  <Hello?  Corliss?>

"What can I do?" he murmurs aloud.  "She's insane, a hypocrite, and she has a deadly blade attached to her body.  Do you really want to be decapitated?"

<At least we can follow her,> his host insists.  <Maybe Terenia's off feeding someplace.  Then we can-->

"I'm not going to interfere," Corliss sighs, shaking his head.

Efaen moves through the crowd lithely, side stepping anyone who is in her path. She ignores everyone, carefully planning her next move in her mind. As far as she knows, Ossanlin's Dome Ship is still fixed onto Terenia's Bug, leaving that ship as an impossible escape route. She will have to procure another ship from somewhere. But where? Her stalk eyes pan around the room, searching for an option.

<<If I had known that it would help me regain control of my body,>> Efaen says silently to Terenia, <<I would have had you murder your insignificant sister much earlier...>>

"Yeah, you're right." Jackson said. He leaned on his elbows and looked at Al, thinking. "You're exactly right. In fact... I'll be right back." Jackson pushes his chair back. He stops when he remembers he's still holding his cards, and looks torn. "Uh, I.... fold." He sets his cards down with a sigh... he'd had the Jack and the Ace of hearts. Jackson jogs out the door, being sure to let the Andalite go first and not follow too closely.

Rayker keeps a steady pace, paying more attention to his thoughts than his surroundings. After rounding a bend, he finds himself behind the bar, where he sees the girl from earlier practicing a stick-fighting form. Strange imagery flashed and flowed around her. Rayker stopped and observed, quietly. She knows what she's doing. he thought. Looks like she's blowing off some steam. No wonder though; it's been a hard day for a girl her age, for sure. Rayker was impressed by her form and precision. Must have had a good teacher...

Temrash heard Efaen's threat to Corliss. First Hadrin had died, then Justin, and Myitt had allowed Keshin to escape. He got up and made his way over to Efaen. Not hiding any hostility in his posture.

Jagill snapped to attention as soon as he knew Temrash's purpose. He waited expectantly. Efaen was an Andalite with a quick tail, but she was likely inexperienced compared to the Princed Temrash was used to fighting.

He walked over to efaen, balled his fist, and without a word swung to punch her in the face. He wouldn't kill her yet, but he'd beat that attitude out of her.

Claxter saw Temrash, and tensed up. <Hey!> He yelled in warning.

Kevlin saw Temrash go after Terenia. <<I'd better go make sure his doesn't get himself killed.>> He stood and headed over.

Charlotte, Carson, and Antonio stayed in their seats, but watched the fight closely. Their fingers edged either to their guns or their hoods, but they still held on to their cards. "I pass..." Charlie said, referring to the game.

It is, of course, next to impossible to sneak up on an Andalite, so Efaen saw Temrash coming long before he was within arms reach. It took her a second to place him in her mind as Temrash, the Hork-Bajir that had involved himself early in her arrival then disappeared. Recognizing his hostile posture she stiffens, bringing her tail upwards in defense. Surely no Hork-Bajir would... But he does, his fist coming up and forward towards her face with surprising speed for the arboreal species.

Efaen jerks back in surprise, his fist missing its intended target of her face and instead clipping her in the right shoulder, his wrist blade laying open a long gash.

<Ahh!> Efaen cries, more in surprise than pain. Instinctively she whips her tail forward in defense, aiming for his long, reptilian neck.

Efaen was as "slow" as he thought she'd be. He deflected her blade with his by bringing his arm up, then in one fluid movement brought it down with intent to backhand her.

Claxter ran around the tables to engage him, not wanting to draw his shredders and risk hurting someone accidentally. Temrash could hear him coming, and was considering a counter for it.

Corliss, lost in thought, finds himself dragged back to reality by the sound of a fight.

He sits up, then slides off the bar seat, drawing his Dracon--Fiona and Mar completely forgotten.

Efaen was over the initial surprise of the attack now, and she sidesteps Temrash's second blow easily, bringing her tail back into an attack position.

<Yeerk fool,> Efaen hisses, backing up so that she is out of range from further blows. Several tables and chairs have been knocked over in the confusion, and Efaen kicks a chair out of the way in frustration. <What is the meaning of this!?> Her breath is heavy as she glares at the Hork-Bajir Controller, and dark blue blood is running freely down her chest.
