Corliss smirks, still wincing.  "Well, as it so happens, being kneed in that particular area causes quite a great deal of distress to the human body," he says grimly.  "Suffice it to say Mike and I do not want it to happen again."

He glances sideways at her, while he pushes Keshin's dead weight form along on the strange hovering chair device.

"Ossanlin?" he says.  "I don't reckon you have anything to worry about with him.  He's been with us for years, hasn't turned us in, yet.  I wonder if he recognizes just how important you've become to us, though?  The fact that you live with us would surprise him, I should think.  You didn't..."  He pauses, glancing down at Keshin, and lowers his voice.  "You didn't tell him your situation with the Andalite government?"

Tora slowly shakes her head. "No, I did not," she murmurs, then looks down at Keshin as well. Just in case, she switches back to private thought speech. Who knows what strange bug Salem could have planted on the failing human body, considering the array of technology on his ship.

<<And that is part of what worries me,>> she continues. <<If you believe he is trustworthy, then he is. But he could easily say something that would give me away without even realizing it. I suppose I should ask him to refrain from mentioning me at all; it is not a far leap from 'Tora' to 'Ertoran,' and the last thing I want is bounty hunters storming the base.>>

When Myitt responded to Al, he laughed and caused his form to appear on the wall of the craft. He looked as he had when he was in his android body- the long hair, the mocking grin, even the tuxedo. His display made it look as though he were standing just outside the wall. He bowed towards Myitt. "'sup. I'm Al, resident Furka-goer, dance machine, runner-up in the Miss Beatboxing Universe competition three years running, occasionally high, and president of the Existentialist Disco Zombies and Booze fan club," he said. He turned to Ossanlin. "I'm a lot of things, actually, but that's probably the first time anyone's ever accused me of being a hitman. If I'd been trying to hit you with the ship, I would have really hit you. You don't spend decades piloting a space roller coaster without getting good at hitting small, fast moving targets. Sorry about that. It's a little embarrassing for me to fly somewhere I don't want to."

Salem had nearly completed his morph, and had to respond in thought-speak. <Ship's got a blind spot when the hatch is open,> he explained. It was so nice to be able to address a whole group with thought-speak for a change. <Excuse Al. He was designed to be nuts. It's kind of the thing to do in Furka, apparently. And yeah, sometimes you've just gotta make do with what you've got. Unlimited resources would make life less interesting. Even so, War Prince, it's rarely wise to make a judgment call on the number of people you're up against.> He took a deep breath and looked around the closet. He'd completed the morph. He could feel the bird's mind under his own, but he'd spent enough time in this morph to be used to it. Without hesitation, he reversed the process. <Nothing will cause someone's demise as fast as underestimating an enemy. That's why I make it a point to always be overprepared. In my line of work, the risks are too great to do otherwise.>

Myitt grins at Al.  "Huh," she says, crossing her arms, Dracon still in hand.  "I've never met a sentient android before, let alone a primarily incorporeal one.  You're more like a sentient program, I imagine.  It must be nice to be able to design your own physical form without consequence.  Now if this ship were to be destroyed, would you be destroyed along with it?  Or is your consciousness protected somewhere a bit less tangible?"

---

Corliss smiles wanly.  "Don't worry, love.  That's the last thing we all want," he says, nodding down at Keshin.  He brings up his holoscreen and uses the coordinates Myitt had sent him to veer their course a bit.  "Keshin's ship should be through these trees, but I'm not sure if we'll be able to open it without his command."  He looks down at Keshin with concern, and checks the bounty hunter's pulse.

"We will cross that bridge when we come to it," Tora responds to Corliss with what she feels is an appropriate human idiom. There are a few the meaning of which still confuses her, but this is not one of them. Then she adds, "How is he faring? Do you think he will survive?"

Cody felt surprise and distate when Bear talked to him in thougtspeech. He looked at the dog incredulously, wondering if he was an Andalite or something else. But why would an Andalite be named Bear, and act aggressively towards one of their own. He continued walking to his ship though, and eventually got to it.

Inside he grabbed a syringe with painkillers, and shot himself in the butt with it. It went to work quickly, and put him in a better mood. With Claxter behind him to make sure he couldn't swipe a dracon beam, he sat in the chair and started working the controls.

"His pulse is fast, but steady," Corliss says.  "I'm no medic.  It is difficult to say, and he has been unresponsive..."  He shakes his head, pushing the floating chair through the last bit of shrubbery, into an apparently empty clearing.

Corliss lets go of the chair Keshin is in and steps forward, calling out a standard Bug fighter command in Yeerkish to uncloak the ship.

Nothing happens, and he glances back at the hovering holoscreen that has been following him doggedly, then back at where the ship should be.

"Emergency protocol," he commands in his native language.  "Priority Code One.  Open exterior hatch!"

I went in to the ship and lay down against the wall where I could keep an eye on the Andalite. Cody probably thought I was an andalite but after the andalite coup where the andalites took over the world I hated andalites.

Once Cody was up in the air, he started scanning around to see what was out there. He didn't bother with the stealth, so anyone who looked up would see a hovering bugfighter.

"Let's see how quick he is to open his ship up with a bugfighter over him."

<You will do nothing to endanger my Prince!>

"It was a joke, man. The weapons controls are in plain sight, so you can watch them. Though if we see Parker walking around, and your hand happens to slip, I will say nothing."

<Just keep flying and behave.> Claxter said, obviously unhappy. especially in cramped quarters next to a dog that disliked him. <Did we have to let the animal inside? It doesn't even belong to you.>

"Naw, Bear's cool. So far, at least."

Terenia watches Salem disappear one way into the ship, Tora and Corliss disappear with Keshin the other way, presumably towards Keshin's ship. Attention has diverted away from her, and she feels that perhaps this would be a good opportunity to slip away.

<<Fighting and running,>> Efaen observes, <<Is there anything else that you are capable of?>>

<<I'm pretty good at unintentionally breaking my word and ruining peoples lives,>> Terenia responds wryly.

<<A winning list of achievements. How long before you destroy the Yeerk that infatuates you?>>

<<I'm not going to destroy Corliss,>> Terenia retorts. Though I do owe him an apology...

Terenia checks that both of her Dracon Beams are secure and begins to back away. She glances up at the ramp, where Ossanlin is still visible. Everyone else has gone inside, it seems. She bites her lip, indecisive, before sending Ossanlin a private thought-speak message.

<<Ossanlin, I don't feel safe with that human around. I'm going to go back to the bar, or maybe my ship, if you need me.>> She does not wait for him to answer, but turns and begins to trudge away, scoffing at herself. As if the mighty Andalite Captain would ever need you.

-----

Tamora re-enters the bar and returns to her previous seat in the shadows. The bartender brings her a water and stares at her.

"What?" Tamora asks defensively. The bartender does not respond, merely turns away and begins scrubbing at a glass. Tamora sighs and rests her chin in her hands, wondering what to do now.

((Gah. I have nothing much to do. Both my characters ended up unconscious. Not sure when I should have Mar get woken up from some karma-induced nightmare either. But don't worry---I've been keeping up with the Bar. :P ))

The strange, overly-modified Frankenstein Bug fighter seems to understand this command and opens the hatch. It's clear that Keshin left this function intact just in case something like this happened. It's hard to fathom why exactly the monstrosity's still standing. It probably hasn't been repaired with parts that match it in years.

As I lay there my eyes started to close and I began to doze off. The andalite didn't look like he was going to attack. I fell asleep and wimpered once as I dreamed about andalites chasing me and putting me in a kennel.
