Sometimes I wish that Jake was called Jerry instead. Imagine what Marco would say...

I don't think this is embarassing, but I have to share it.  I saw a article on AOL with the headline "Majestic Winged Animal Spotted in N.Y.C."  I swear my first thought was that it was a red-tailed hawk.  And when the article uploaded, it turns out I was right.

To this day I refer to triangle brackets as <thought speak brackets>. The embarrassing-ish part comes from having to explain it every time I say it around someone new.

Haha, I do that, too. :P I'm pretty sure I read Animorphs before ever knowing what they were really called.

Actually... what are they really called?

i just saw this post haha. senior year of HS, i was in my computer class and the computer i was on, the < was stuck. So i told the teacher "the left thought speak bracket keeps sticking on me"...and like it took me longer than it sohuld to realize why he looked at my strangely xD

So I was talking to Faerie and another friend  in school the other day, and we were talking about Avatar. I mentioned the main character named Jake and his older brother Tom. Faerie thought that was really cool, the other friend was confused. Cue vague denials of the importance of the conversation in an effort to avoid mentioning Animorphs.

I refuse to remove this sig because of some petty argument. RAF must remain solid.

Being on a streetcar with my gf (who also loves Animorphs) and honestly whispering the word Andalite to her not because I'm embarrassed to say it out loud (which I am) but for a second I actually whispered it because I didn't want people who were infested to hear it and know I knew.

That was kind of embarrassing for me because it's when I realized how obsessed with Animorphs I am haha.

i was ONE ITEM AWAY from demanding that he tell a joke.

Vanish, it's a danger we all face (well, except for those who are already infested, of course), and you are wise to be cautious! O.O Yay, I got a plug!

But yes, it's all true. Applegate sent me a psychic communication that that is what REALLY happened. I am merely the messenger. :P

So many embarrassing moments, so little time . . . although the majority of them occurred during the original mania.

Sometime in 7th grade, my BFF discovered fanfiction. Particularly, explicit Jake/Cassie porn. She was very eager over one of the finds, printed it out, and brought it to school for me to read. It was then confiscated by our English teacher . . . and then read by our English teacher . . . Yeah, that was awkward.

He was way cool about it, though, except he made sure to bring it up a LOT throughout the year.

We had a little group of 3 girls in middle school -- we had our Animorphs crushes and our similar personalities. For example, I was "Rachel", because I was blonde and loved to shop, BFF was "Cassie" cause she loved animals and the environment. The third was "Melissa", since there were no other girls left, but she liked Marco . . . (Who didn't do that sort of thing during the 90s?)

Anyway, we decided to sort of play up these personas in the notes we passed during and between classes. We came up with a backwards + symbol-based writing system (in case, of course, the notes were intercepted by Controllers) detailing our "missions". One of these notes was indeed confiscated by our math teacher (I'm fairly certain she was a Controller; she was plain evil), who briefly read it, looked completely confused, and most likely wanted to send us for mental help. Nothing significant came as a result of this, but I was thoroughly embarrassed when, in high school, "Cassie" presented me with a notebook full of all these notes she'd saved over the years (minus the one that was confiscated). SHE SAVED THEM. Fake mission plans, explicit details about certain male Animorphs' appendages, et cetera. It makes me flush just thinking about it now.

Not an embarrassing moment for me, personally, but definitely funny: Also in 7th grade, we went on a field trip to the state capitol building. "Melissa" and I were assigned to the same group, and were walking around downtown during lunch. She dissed Tobias -- and a bird promptly crapped on her head. When I managed to stop laughing, I gave her my hoodie to wear as a kind of turban until we could get back to school. I had to stay after with her to help her wash it all out, since it was apparently all my fault  ::)
You were brave. You were good. You mattered.

xD if it had, i WOULD have tried to force a joke out of him. ....or maybe i would have run. either or. i wish i could say i remember it, but.... anyway. since i don't, it means that it wasn't noteworthy. =P

i thought the funniest thing, though, was seeing him and finally understanding, pictorially, WHAT marco "ought" to look like. i've done the same thing for other characters in dreams- where my subconscious came up with something wild but plausible... something that actually changed my perspective of the character. D: anyway. if i ever see a marco-esque mark, i will pass the info on to you. ;D

:P Friend of mine and I were playing 20 questions the other day.

Him: What's your favorite animal?
Me: Red-tailed hawk.
Him: ...red-tailed...
Me: Hawk, yeah.
Him: How'd you come up with that?
Me:  :-] long story.

The time my dad made me explain why I wanted a yellow ford mustang was worse, though. :P
