Do you remember...
« on: September 21, 2008, 06:37:40 AM »
What are your most unforgettable moments in the books? For me, the single most unforgettable moment in the entire series was the following line in book 22:

I saw it drop from out of nowhere. Out of the sky. Out of the clouds it dropped. Wings back, talons raked forward. It hit David in the back of his head! Eagle feathers flew. David screamed in pain. And Tobias - yes, Tobias - said in private thought-speak, <Rachel, David is really getting to be a pain in the butt.>

Because of everything that happened before, with Tobias thought to be dead, and everyone else down and out, that was one of the very few times in the books I remember literally going "YES!!" outloud, because it was just an awesome moment.

Another most memorable moment I recall of course is Tobias initially being trapped, as well as at the end of book 13 when he greets Rachel in his newfound human morph.

Come to think of it, an awful lot of the series most memorable moments involve Tobias.

I agree with those..very nice moments :)

I also liked the part in the Andalite Chronicles (Elfangors Secret - I think that's what it's called?) when the Ellimist takes Elfangor away, and he discovers Loren is pregant. I think that's so sad!

Also, when Cassie and Jake finally kiss, and when they're talking about getting married (then it all turns to crap when they don't end up together!! that sucked). So now when I re-read the series, and read over the lovey-dovey parts, it sucks coz I know they're not gonna be together... :(
"I always considered myself a loner. I mean, not like a poor-me, Byron-esque, I-should-have-broughta-swimming-buddy loner. I mean the sort of person who doesn’t feel too upset about the prospect of a weekend spent seeing no one, and reading good books on the couch. It wasn’t like I was a people hater or anything. I enjoyed activities and the company of friends. But they were a side dish. I always thought I would also be happy without them."

The end of #30 when Marco breaks his silence for his mother. It hit me deep. I just loved all the emotion that went into that one scene!

Something can be memorable, even if you see it coming. And I only half saw it, as in I hoped it would happen and that he wasn't really dead. But as proven at the end of the series, with KA you never know.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  :)  I was half joking.  It was a cool moment, if a bit of a deus-ex machina.  "Rachel's gonna diiiiee..." - "Oh wait, here comes Tobias to SAVE THE DAAAYYY!"  *sings*  But it was a real fist-pumping and cheering moment, whooo, Tobias!  Very awesome.

For me it was probably another David Saga moment, Rachel with the fork.  And in the final arc of the series when Jake blackmails Erek before the Pool Ship assault.  Very defining moments.  And so great.

The end of #48 when Rachel has to choose whether to let David live or die. I think the passage really wraps up Rachels persona at this point of the war nicely:

Quote
<Kill me, Rachel! If there's any humanity left in you at all, please kill me!>
"I'm one of the good guys." I choked, tears welling up in my eyes.
<Then do the good thing!>

[...]

I caught a glimpse of myself in a broken shard of mirror.
And saw what anyone looking down the alleyway from the sidewalk would have seen.
A young girl sitting knees-up in the sun, staring at a white rat.
It would be hard to believe the entire fate of the planet depended on that girl.
A girl who wanted to do the right thing.
But who had no idea at all what that was...

Oh yeah, that was a great moment. Even if the book itself, while still good, was a little... ummm... what's the word... insane? I seem to remember reading the whole thing going O_o

That was a great scene yeah, although I agree that book 48 was a little... unusual.

Dude, I finally remembered my most memorable scene

(haha yea, took me a while to remember)

Megamorphs..... 3? wait I better check.. yea Megamorphs 3. Elfangors Secret.

This simple line: "Thunk! A hole appeared in Jake's forehead."

and then afterwards: "Five heads snapped. Six pairs of eyes stared. Four mouths and one thought-speak voice said the same word. "Jake?" "

I just loved it. I can't remember if I saw it coming, but I know I was very shocked at the time when I read it.

Oh yeah, lol. That was a great moment. Another one I thought of was simply

"GET! THAT! BUTTERFLY!"
