The Familiar
« on: September 20, 2008, 02:58:46 AM »
Is there anyone who can explain to me what is going on in #41 "The Familiar"?
I don't understand how Jake ended up in the future and why his morphing is off and then on again ... and since I don't understand the middle part of the story I just can't make sense out of the end ... what the hell happens? Which choice does he make? And who does that voice belong to?

uh...let's go one question at a time shall we?

in ten words or less, it was all a dream.
in more detail, some kind of almost-all-powerful being created a sort of future (much like what the ellimist did in #7), but in sort of dream format, meaning it was all happening inside Jake's head, so that he could, well, learn about Jake and humans. The morphing problem is sort of the powerful being, messing with Jake's head.
No one knows which choice he made. He could've chose cassie, he might've chose the radio (I think it was a radio), some say he found a third choice.
No one knows who the voice belongs to either. Some say it's the ellimist, some say crayak, some say the one at the end of the series, some say it's the being who banished crayak (mentioned in #26). as for me, I think he's a new character altogether, with no mention of him before or after.

Oh okay, never quite got it that it was a dream.
I thought he had been zapped to the future and I just felt so many things being wrong (Jake having morphing powers but still working in an office, Tobias stuck in Ax morph and passing unnoticed all those years, the old red-tailed hawk that flies around, ... )
But if it was a dream/test from some fuzzy character I'm okay with it :)
Basically it might have been some 5th dimensional creature doing his research thesis on Jake :p

It was a ray that would turn the Moon into a Kandrona generator.

Cassie was a Human-Controller, but high up in the Evolutionist Front resistance movement.  The EF sought to create artificial symbiotic hosts for the Yeerks.  Did the EF get that idea from Cassie's memories of the Iskoot, who had symbiotic hosts?
