I agree with all that. It was, after all, Cassie who came up with the solution for David, erased John Berryman from history, viciously scarred several human-Controllers beyond what the Animorphs normally do, AND gave Tom the morphing cube. Say what you want about Marco, Cassie's the worst. It's always the quiet ones you gotta watch out for. I also always thought her battle morph was symbolic in that it doesn't look very powerful up front (compared to the tiger, gorilla, and grizzly team) but then, when you look deeper, you see the cold cunning and ruthlessness which sets it apart.
All very good points. Okay, so maybe the wolf is the right morph for Cassie; appears less dangerous to mask the true predator that hides behind the face of her 'pacifism.' Yeah, I can buy that (especially since we all know that Cassie is already a hypocrite in other ways, too). I still don't buy that the gorilla fits Marco's battle strategy. He may have been troubled, sure, but he's also the one who says that he takes the "bright clear line" from point A to point B, and only adds morality back into the equation afterwards. That doesn't sound like a guy who would particularly care about knocking people out versus killing them. In that sense, the gorilla would fit Jake, Tobias or Cassie better than it does Marco.
But I thought of a different way to explain Marco's choice. The gorilla represents intelligence, in a way. Gorillas are powerful, sure. But as the only battle morph with hands, Marco's gorilla has proved strategically useful in many situations, from picking up Dracon beams to opening doors to driving cars. And that's really what Marco is all about: strategy. Thinking of the things that nobody else thought of.
