I just finished with "The Hork-Bajir Chronicles".
« on: May 31, 2010, 12:32:56 AM »
I just wanted to announce that I finished the "Hork-Bajir Chronicles" and feel a sense of accomplishment. I loved the book up until the end before the epilogue; it was a bitter-sweet one that wasn't happy. But it's my second favorite after "The Andalite Chronicles". I loved how it had no human characters in it — well, except Tobias, but he's a nothlit — in a traditional sense. I even experienced excitement of knowing how Esplin 2466 felt throughout his rise from sub-visser to Visser and learning how to control a host-body.

One of the most poignant scenes for me was when Esplin looked down at the Yeerk pool he was born and raised in and how limited it felt once he knew the reality behind it. It's similar to Plato's allegory of the cave. How, once it was understood, was not the universe, but just a fraction of it. Dak Hamee has the same epiphany when he realized that the flowers in Mother Sky were not flowers but stars and that there are planets as well. Overall, it was a really good book.

Hooray for finishing the Animorphs series! :logo: I finished a few months ago with #51: The Absolute. In HBC, I loved how in the beginning, it gave us the Earth, Yeerk, Hork-Bajir and Andalite dates. I wish it would have stayed that way throughout. I loved Visser three (Esplin 9466) in that book! His were some of my favorite chapters. I guess he wasn't initially evil, really. He just wanted to be know by his people and fit in.

Again, congrats on finishing the Animorphs series!

Oh, I haven't quite finished the series. I just finished a Chronicles book, but I'm glad I got another one out of the way. Congrats by the way.

Oh, I see. I have over 10 books to read — I stopped somewhere in the 20's.

Nice. :) I really liked HBC. Well, I liked all the Chronicles. XD But I think HBC is my second favorite, after the Andalite Chronicles, and probably in my top 5 favorite Animorphs books over all.

:P Well... I already said it's next to Andalite Chronicles. Can't exactly make it number 1 then, can I?
