Solo Missions

After reading the reread thread for 44 i realise that Cassie gets multiple solo mission books, while the others get none. maybe a solo mission or something, but not an entire book devoted to them. So if there was going to be a solo mission for each Ani (except Cassie), what kind of solo missions do you think the others could go on that would take an entire book? It can be something serious, or it could just be a nice filler book full of character development.

As much as I hated the fact that Cassie got the most solo missions, I think they all sort of did in some different ways. I mean, maybe Jake and Marco got left out for whatever reason, but Ax was pretty much on his own for the entirety of #38 (at least we thought he was), and there was that same "And Then There Were None" thing going on in #18 that was happening in #29. Tobias got a hell of a lot of solo missions--#3 was all about him and his angst, most of #33 was on his own, etc. And Rachel got a couple as well--as much as #22 was a team effort, she basically trapped David on her own (all right Ax was there but he didn't do much), and so much of that book was internal that I don't think anyone defines it as a group mission. And then, #48...or #49...idk at that point in the series I lose track, but that whole David-Rachel-Crayak showdown can be defined as nothing except "solo mission."

But yeah, why were Jake and Marco left out? Maybe because Jake's role/character development was invalid unless he had people around to lead, and Marco just works better if he's playing off other people? Idk, I'm probably forgetting about a couple of books

Yeah, you're right. Thanks for reminding me. 48 was all about rachel, and 3 was all about Tobias. Also we and Ax think he's on his own in 38. 41 was Jake pretty much.

Cassie: 19, 29, 34 and 39 had significant portions of her solo, 44
Tobias: Now that I'm thinking about it, each Tobias book had a significant solo moments.  It's just that his books were never promoted to be solo the way Cassie's was.
Ax: 18 & 38
Rachel: 48, but I agree with Anijen about 22 being so internal, & I would consider 32 as also being very internal
Jake: 41, but does 11 count as a solo book since no one else remembers it?  However, it makes sense for Jake not to have a lot of solo books because what's the point of being the leader if there's no one to lead.
Marco: The only solo I could think of would be #40.  Idk why Marco didn't get a solo book.  Maybe the books involving V1 substituted for his solo books.  However, maybe the lack of solo Marco books is a good thing.  Maybe having all the characters participating in the books might be one of the reasons why people like Marco books.  And the solo heavy books are part of the reason why people dislike Cassie and think Tobias is whiny.

It may have just been personal preference by the KA and Michael. Cassie was KA's favorite for, I assume, her moralizing and her inner battles, which would make her want to fully explore these elements of her character in solo books. Marco was Michael's favorite possibly for his light hearted, joking attitude masking a deeper turmoil which is best expressed in a group atmosphere where he makes a stupid wise crack and then his inner monologue reveals his actual fears and worries.
