"Close is not an issue right now." Roger said, as the bug hovered menacingly overhead. It seemed like they were trying to knock the jeep over without completely crushing everyone and everything inside. "Hang on. I'm going to accelerate. Throw when ready!"

He hit the gas, trying to get a bit of distance between himself and the bug, so Daniel could land the can at the viewscreen. With flaming gas and smoke, hopefully they'd be too blinded to keep Roger from driving into the woods. After that they'd be forced to land the thing to continue the pursuit, unless they intended to mow down the trees. Hopefully a small craft meant for space didn't really have the hull strength to tackle a forest full of trees.

Daniel is holding on tight as Roger accelerates, catching the Bug by surprise. He swings the jug out the window in an awkward arc, and watches as it flies. It lands on top of the bug, above the windscreen, and bursts beautifully into flame. Unfortunately, the plastic doesn't explode the way a glass bottle would have, and the burning ball of gas can slides slowly down the center of the Bug's windscreen.

Without thinking, Daniel aims his Beretta and quickly squeezes off five rounds towards the Bug. In his mind, he's picturing the flaming gas can exploding, but nothing so dramatic happens. He does, however, manage to punch a couple of holes in the can, spraying gas across the ship's windscreen and dorsal surface. Finally, the can falls to the dry grass, burning almost pathetically on the ground.

It seems to be working. They're almost to the treeline, and the Bug still doesn't seem to be recovered from what's happening.

Chase watches on as the two in the Jeep try to ward off the bug.  If anything the people of this page were often the resourceful type.  He admires the work done to throw the gasoline on the bug's windscreen and smiles grimly as it catches on fire.  It wouldn't down the bug...probably.  Originally the thing could've handled reentry temperatures...it probably couldn't do that anymore, but it shouldn't much care about a little fire.  It does seem to obscure the pilot's vision, however, as the bug  veers left and right, obviously unable to acquire the Jeep visually anymore.  He stops his motorcycle behind a rock formation...there was a small forest up ahead...the Jeep was making for that quite obviously.  Tree cover would be beneficial...but the trees would slow the Jeep down.

He draws his Dracon and squeezes off a few shots at the Bug.  There's little chance it will have any effect whatsoever...even at point-blank range a handheld Dracon wouldn't be able to pierce a Bug's hull plating...however, if the couple in the Jeep weren't too frenzied and panicked to notice, the shots on the Bug would establish him as the enemy of whomever was aboard it...hopefully.  And as the saying went..."The enemy of mine enemy...."  It could also give the Bug a second target...which could prove slightly problematic.

((A dracon beam once took down a truck ship. :P))

Roger saw his chance, and made for the woods through the nearest path he could send a truck through. Things started getting bumpier, and tree branches banged against he jeep as he drove through as quickly as possible. He was worried about the laser firing he heard, but as far as he knew they hadn't been hit. He tried his best to look for a spot that they could leave the vehicle and hide on foot.

Daniel holds on tight and manages to keep from screaming out loud as the jeep careens into the trees at what feels like an absurd speed. When he hears a Dracon fire, his heart leaps into his throat. He's dead now, and he knows it. It's only a few seconds later that he realizes that the shot had been fired at the Bug. But who...?

He shakes it off. No time now. This little stand of trees could barely be called a 'forest,' and it won't take the Bug long to figure out where they've gone. Though as he watches, it turns towards the Dracon shot, then back towards them. The pilot is either drunk or very indecisive. Or perhaps the last of the flames burning themselves out on the Bug are still obscuring its vision.

"There," he shouts, pointing. A mound of fallen logs stands to one side. "Stop nearby, but not too nearby. One of us can hide out there, one of us can hang in the jeep, and one of us will be in the trees as backup." He finally turns around, only to find the back seat empty. Weird. He could have sworn someone was there. "Er..." he pauses, "just one of us in the mound and one in the trees, then. The jeep will have to be its own bait. We need to go before they see us."

Roger parked the car where it could be seen from above, but was still somewhat secluded.  These woods weren't as big as he had hoped, but it was the only cover he had. Apparently his client had bailed out at some point. It was out of Roger's hands. He grabbed his rifle, and his machete, and made for better cover.

"Things are coming to a head. Hopefully these guys will be easier to deal with when they're not in the ship."

"Hopefully," agrees Daniel. He grabs the briefcase and sprints into the woods, opposite the direction of the woodpile where Roger is heading. He runs as far as he feels comfortable doing and plasters himself along the back of one of the trees, peeking out at the Bug.

As he watches, the ship hesitates, then lowers itself to just a few feet above the field. The hatch opens, and two figures jump out and make for the woods. They don't exactly move like pros, but they are well-armed and quickly find cover. Daniel's brief glance reveals that one is holding what is probably an assault rifle of some sort, and the other looks to be strapped with several weapons-- the one it points forwards looks to be a Dracon beam.

Daniel's teeth clench as he watches them dart from tree to tree, nearing the jeep. His hand tenses on his weapon, and he looks towards the wood pile, hoping to spot Roger. Only two people. He's had much worse odds.

Roger didn't like the look of these guys, decked out with all kinds of weapons. He didn't want to have to kill them if possible, but if he just came up behind them and ordered them to drop their weapons, they'd most likely turn and unload on him. He thought about leaving, but then they'd just jump back in the bug and chase them down. He wondered about sneaking around and grabbing to bug himself, but it might not be possible to fly it.

All they had right now was surprise on their side. The assault rifle could mess you up, but depending on how many bullets he had he wouldn't be able to fire much with it. The dracon could set fire to everything, though. It might even be able to burn through stone. It was hard to tell which was more dangerous.

He tried to catch Daniel's eye, and indicate that he'd shoot at one guy, while Daniel should target the second.

Daniel steadies himself as the two men approach the jeep. He takes aim-- he'll have to be steady. This is at the edge of his range of accuracy, so even hitting his target seems a difficult possibility.

He catches sight of Roger, and picks up on the message. He shifts his aim towards the second man, the slower one.

The two unknowns approach the jeep with their weapons drawn and their hackles raised. They're uneasy, but they don't suspect the trap that's been laid for them just yet. Daniel makes a motion that he hopes indicates that Roger should take the first shot, lets out a breath, and waits.

"Graaaaiiiiiiinnnnns ssss..."

The moan is practically in his ear.

"****," he mutters, swinging around to face the shambling Grained that is already reaching for his briefcase of oatmeal. He swings the briefcase up into the creature's head and it stumbles back, its head snapping up.

If the creature is surprised at all, it doesn't show, and it again takes a step towards him.

Daniel curses again. There's not really a choice here. He raises his gun and squeezes the trigger. The creature drops at his feet, a neat, round hole between its eyes, as the deafening shot rings through the trees.

So much for the element of surprise.

Daniel glances over his shoulder. The two people approaching the jeep appear to have hit the dirt at the sound of the gunshot. He can barely see them now-- one is behind a tree and the other, mostly hidden behind a slight rise in the ground. They're no longer interested in the jeep.

Without thinking, Daniel ducks out of cover and squeezes off a shot at the one hiding behind the tree. A cloud of dust and vaporized sap rises from said tree. An instant later, a hail of gunfire comes tearing through the cloud. Daniel barely manages to duck back behind his own tree before the woods around him are torn apart by bullets.
