So, it seems that the Animorphs television show that aired on Nickelodeon in the 90s is now in syndication on a channel called Qubo.
http://www.qubo.com/schedule (http://www.qubo.com/schedule)
It's scheduled for Saturdays at 9:00 pm. If anything, this means new high quality video that isn't ripped from ages old VHS copies.
-
I never thought I'd see this happen. It is on a channel of old 90s shows so it isn't that surprising, but I am really happy to see this.
-
That actually doesn't surprise me. :) That is awesome. :)
-
Having re-watched the first episode last night...
Fair enough, but it doesn't do the books much justice :P
-
It looks like Animorphs is just about the only show on there worth watching...but I still wish I got that channel.
-
Saw this on RAF's tweet. so i decided to return xD
-
From what I've seen of the show, it's an instructional guide on how wield an intellectual property to maximum rage. Seen for nostalgia and punishment.
-
Ani-TV--or what I like to call, Degrassi with the occasional shape shifting and aliens. :)
I like the argument Pop made in his last video for the episode guide: yea, it was a series with a lot of flaws, but I, too, do not regret watching the few episodes I've seen. It was a nice little experiment, and could be used as a map for how NOT to approach the series should one (idealistic hope here) ever get made.

Man, I wish I had known about this before they started airing. I would love to have the entire series on my DVR. Guess I'll have to settle for everything except the first 2. (assuming they keep it on long enough to air the full series)
two episodes a week is brutal though, why not make it a weeknight thing? It'll take a while to circle back at this rate. If they do that is.
Edit: Okay, watching now. The picture quality looks awesome. The colors really pop now.
They shortened the intro though to my disappointment. I mean come on, that was the best part. I would have rather they cut something from the rest of the episode than mess with the intro. Do they do this with all the eps? Probably. I just want them to air the full theme, even if just once. Because there's no way we're getting dvds this is the only shot we have at seeing and hearing the intro in high quality.
I noticed at the start of the shortened intro that there's a growl that I don't remember hearing there before. Makes me wonder if a longer version of the theme exists.

The shortened intro:

-
Why did they shorten the opening? That was the best part of the show.
-
Usually that's one of the things they do when they have to show more commercials than the original station did.
-
Actually, you know what? That was the intro I remember from when I used to watch it on TV. I actually remember getting confused when I heard the long intro for the first time, and thought I was just going crazy and remembering it wrong, lol.
So, I'm actually kinda glad that I didn't just imagine the shorter intro?

Aparently this is what they aired on YTV. Here in the states I'm pretty sure we got the full theme every time. Until the Jake narrated version that is.
I tweeted Qubo asking if they could air the full theme at some point. No answer of course. heh

Yup, that's definitely the Canadian version. I remember seeing the same thing on YTV.

There's finally a full Qubo-ed episode on Youtube, "On The Run," the fourth episode of the first season:
Animorphs - 1x04 - On The Run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaDXCZgjAT8#noexternalembed)
It's a nice quality for a ****ty episode. You can practically see the pores on the cameraman reflected in the elevator doors. :P
-
Lol! :P If you told my twelve year old self while he was eagerly searching for Animorphs episodes online that they'd be playing them on TV after more than ten years, I'd probably give you a big hug. Now, I'd give a big hug and laugh my ass off!

One of my favorite eps just aired, the capture part 2. But why did they cut some lines of dialogue? Its not even a censorship thing as far as I can tell.
When Tobias flies out after jake/the controller insulted him he used to say "He's all yours Rachel". Now he just flies out.
When Jake tries to escape the rest gang on up him they all had a one liner.
Lion Rachel "going somewhere Yeerk?"
Horse Cassie "Not this way"
Wolf Marco "your time's up, dude."
All that's gone.
Its not even like these were cut for time because they still show the footage, but no one says anything until after morphing back.
There may have been other things I missed too. Its not really noticeable I guess to the average person but Ive have certain scenes memorized by heart so it stuck out a lot to me.

Too bad I don't get that channel, but then, I dunno, the show was just SO CORNY I felt almost guilty watching it lol. Like, really? This is how I'm wasting half an hour? lol. I almost felt embarrassed the first time I saw the puppet andalite heads.
-
I guess it was too much to hope for a thread titled Animorphs back on TV to involve an Animorphs TV remake directed by Joss Whedon.
-
What the- they just completely skipped the "changes" 3 parter and jumped right to the finale episode. So mad.
Edit: okay, it looks like they're just playing it out of order a bit. Part 1 of changes just aired.
-
Oh, man, I just looked up some of these on YouTube... So bad lol
-
I'm afraid to look these up
