I think the only thing that excites my interests more than the possibility of an Animorphs movie is the possibility of an Animorphs video game. Yeah, I know there are already some out there. I bought the computer game (it was okay) and I own the Gameboy game (worse than the television series), but what I'm talking about is a video game that stands up to the quality of today's big-name games.
Just imagine a story line where you actually get to choose your own morphs, when to morph, and it actually seems like you have become the animal when you use the morph. Imagine morphing a ****roach and suddenly finding that your character has blurry vision, or morphs a bat and can suddenly find its way around in pitch darkness, or morph a wolf and suddenly sounds come out of your speakers that wouldn't have if your character was human.
Another interesting feature could be open ended missions where you have a set goal, but no instructions on how to achieve that goal. For instance, if your mission is to get documents from a building that is guarded, you could A) sneak in as a bug unnoticed, B) disguise yourself as one of the workers and walk through the front door, C) Barge in through the wall as an elephant and trample everyone in your way, or D) come up with an alternative plan.
Also, it would be really nice if fights were in real time instead of turn-based...
I feel the video game industries are missing out on a series with some terrific and unique game-play opportunities. What are other peoples' ideas concerning a top quality Animorphs video game?

I wouldn't mind an Animorphs MMORPG similar to World of WarCraft or something. Not sure how that would work, but space travel would have to be a must for it.
-
The way I see it, there could be two types of games for Animorphs that would be awesome.
The first would be a sandbox game, where you get missions, but can decide how you want to do them, etc, like you mentioned in your first post. This would be set on Earth, with the Anis as the main characters.
The second would be a Real Time Strategy set in outer space, about the war between Yeerks and Andalites.
-
An RTS where you control Andalite and Yeerk troops could be cool. A game that imploys stealth as well as action as you play the Anis could also be good. Open sandbox would be best, so you could complete objectives in a variety of ways.
You have to search through the city for morphs, but make sure no one sees you aquire the animal or person. If they do, the Yeerks will be on you, and you won't be safe in your natural body if you're human.
The sandbox adventure game sounds better to me.
-
I also wouldn't mind a CCG game, much like Magic, Pokemon, and the very kick-ass Star Wars one.
-
meh, I'm not so much into the card games or rts... but a full-on action game a-la devil may cry would be awesome.c But they'd have to speed up the morphing.
-
I'm not much into card games NOW, but I used to be and if they had an Animorphs CCG, I would totally collect and play it. While I was never huge into Magic, I did play Pokemon with my brother and his friends but since I didn't collect that one I just used my brother's cards, and I played the Star Wars and Star Trek ones ALL the time, and the short-lived Aliens vs Predator one with a couple friends just about every day.
-
I'm imagining a kind of loading bar, but it wouldn't take three minutes. Unless game minutes went by quickly. It would either last five seconds, or it could be instant but the game won't let you acquire the creature where someone could be watching.
Like you hit the action button near an animal, and you have its DNA like that. But if it's within view of someone, the character will say that s/he can't do it there, and you have to get the animal somewhere else.
And if you morph Human around Cassie, you get a nonstandard gameover.

Unless you talk to her about it first and convince her it's the only way. lol.
-
Yeah, or get permission from the Human somehow or whatever. That was mostly a joke. I would hope you could morph Human in the game if needed.
There might be a karma meter involved in this game.
-
There could be a thing like in Knights of the Old Republic where the choices you make determine if you become a Hero or a Villain.
-
The space RTS could probably be done with a palette swapped Galactic Civilizations.
-
Man that would be interesting. I have tried teh PC game and teh GBC game tried teh PS game too. teh MMORPG one sounde intersting.
-
I think the best Animorphs game would be:
- an RPG (it's why I'd like to make one ^^)
or
- a GTA-like, where you have various missions, and you're enough free in the city to find animals to morph...
I'd like to play both ^^ And if they make a new game, I'd buy it! If it doesn't s*ck, of course.
-
Another unique feature an animorphs game could have is how they use thought speech. If a player had the option to wear headphones while they played, then they could hear thought speech through the headphones and normal sounds through the normal speakers.
And as far as an Animorphs CCG goes, I actually think I remember someone who owned an Animorphs card game. I'll see if I can find it online somewhere... Success! Sort of. I found a board game (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/190857/animorphs-ccg) that uses cards, but it isn't the game I remembered. Trial two... Failure. The game I'm thinking of had hand-drawn cards.
-
sandbox is the way to go.
not sure if a MMORPG would work out.
-
Maybe it was a home-made game? I know when I was in Junior High and High School me and my friends made out own CCG with cards and rules that we made ourselves.

No, I'm pretty sure it was store-bought, but I saw it a long time ago and have no proof of its existence, so I can't really be 100% certain. But I think it was a stand alone game that used cards and not a collectable or trading card game.
-
I like the RTS and sandbox ideas. The RTS one could certainly be done by modding another game (such as Homeworld 2). I've wondered about an Animorphs game for a long time.
-
Sandbox is my thought. If we can create huge, immersive environments like, say, the Spiderman games (not a fan of them, but the city is HUGE). For the available morphs, run something like out of Dead Rising, where the individual morphs aren't always immediately apparent, but have an orange icon highlighting them (small morphs or what not). I think that choosing how you complete a mission, and not necessarily having a hard order to things (have a mission map a la GTA, but still maintain a generally cohesive storyline). And I firmly believe that multiplayer would be a must.
-
Yeah, there are many ideas who can lead to a good Animorphs video game. But usually games from movies/books aren't so cool =_='
-
Well, games from movies arent so cool, there really havent been any games from books I can think of unless you count comic books. IF they make an animorphs movie it would definitely fuel an animorphs game but I'd much more prefer if they took their time and made an original animorphs game with an original storyline instead of spend 6 months to tack it on to a movie release
I'd definitely love a sandbox style game, that would offer the most potential for different kinds of missions and morphs. But if they could find a way to do an uncharted-like theatric style game I'd definitely be cool with that too even if it wasnt as free. Because with a sandbox style the gameplay can sometimes suffer when they spend so much time on the expansiveness of the world
If they could do a great sandbox game I'd love the karma idea to be worked in, great idea chad, that really fits with the idea of animorphs of having to make moral sacrifices in extreme situations
Also for sandbox it would be cool if there was a gta gangwars type of side missions where there are multiple yeerk outposts and pool entrances you have to discover and shutdown by following known controllers or stuff like that.
-
I'd prefer a GTA styled Animorphs game where you can roam around the cities and neighborhoods of...wherever the Anis live. and you can explore forests and stuff and acquire your own morphs, morph anywhere and attack anybody(though you will get the attention of controllers and will have to distance yourself from them for the alert level to go down) IDK about you but I love picking on civilians for no reason when I'm playing GTA styled games like Infamous or Prototype or Simpson's Hit and Run. And of course, what game would be complete without co-op multiplayer mode :P?
-
Yeah, killing many people, exploding many cars and have all the policemen on your tail (oh, it's "tail" in English... it's "ass" in French... conclusion: Anglo-Saxons have tails)... happiness ^^
I also like the karma idea.
There aren't so many games where your character's form change. So I think it'd be a little revolution in the world of video games... If they made a good game, of course.
PS: Look, people, if we make the Animorphs RPG (see the RAFprojects), maybe we'll take some of your ideas. I think we'll take the karma idea. I already make something like that in my other game. If you have other ideas, you can tell us in the project thread.
