Title: Has anyone ever re-written the books?
Post by: KOFSoldier on January 22, 2009, 09:45:06 PM
Hey folks, I just finished my 3rd re-read of the Animorphs series and I was wondering if anyone had re-written any of the books with a more adult theme (I mean fan-fiction, of course)?

I'm still craving more Animorphs....

I don't think so all the book stores I went in too and the only animorphs were the origional used ones. Yes the library too.

There's actually a fan who rewrote the ending to fit more of her style

http://members.shaw.ca/jcmlott/index.html (http://members.shaw.ca/jcmlott/index.html)

She rewrote both book # 53 and # 54. I personally think that it's, well, decent. But out of five, I'd give it a two and a half. Although her writing was really good and pretty similar to KA's, the conclusion itself seemed to drag on way too long and she, imo, made Cassie even more perfect than KA/Ghostwriters did in the series :P

I've re-written them in my head, but never on paper...

a lot of people have been contemplating this idea.
a more adult/mature version of animorphs would be great.

Part of the last battle took placeduring 53, so if you wanted to rewrite the ending, you'd also have to change at least part of 53.

There are tons of fan fics out there that basically re-write the last book of the series (just look it up on fanfiction.net), but the actual series itself hasn't been officially re-written. I'm pretty sure K.A had her fill writing it the first time around. :P

hah, it'd be pretty cool if we tried to do it though  :o We could get a bunch of members who were interested in rewriting the series and then select at least six or five who were really good writers and could pull off a KA writing style. That way, we'd have a re-written series :P

I have written fan fiction years ago, but the fanfics I wrote were before the series ended so back then we had to guess what the ending would be like. But I'm actually starting a new facfic, it will take a bit, I work two jobs lol. It will deal more with the relationship between humans and Andalites a decade or two after book 54. Again, the future. So, know, as much as I didn't like the ending with the Five, I never thought to rewrite it. I thought the creature with part of Ax's face was just a little weird, even for this series lol.

I'm going to check it out now, thanks. I was hoping that someone would rewrite the series in a more mature style. Does anyone know if anyone is contemplating this?

and AniJen, let us know if you decide to do it.

I'm guessing a lot of fanfic writers have tried this, although very few of the Animorphs fics I've read have contained strong adult themes. My fanfic series might get a bit darker later on, but I'm hesitant to include adult themes (eg. sex) when the characters are aged 13. If the Animorphs had started the series aged 16 (which I think they should be if they ever make a movie or better TV show) then I'd be less hesitant to use darker violence and mature scenes.

I think I might just take this up, I've got a couple of ideas. Not to mention all the stuff I read into the characters over the years, this could work... *Sits in Thinking Chair*

Where can I find you're fanfic?

Also, Jesse, I think you should go for it. What have you got to lose? I'll definetly check it out.

Oh cool, you have a Thinking Chair too!  ;D

Where can I find you're fanfic?

Well I've finished the first one and I've posted the first 3 chapters of the sequel, I'm working on the 4th chapter as I type. I've also posted it on fanfiction.net but I always post here first.

Okay, so I've worked out a general outline and there's going to be a few key changes. There's going to be another Animorph, the David saga is going to be a bit more dark, It's not going to be Instant oatmeal, and I'm definitely going to have something about Marco and Jake's friendship as a plot point along the way. Not to mention plots involving Cults, non-yeerk alien experiments, and 'Sec-12'.

This is gonna be fun. ;D

Edit: I won't actually post the stories themselves here since they're going to be a bit mature. What I'll probably do is set up a site and have them as PDF's.

Sounds awesome! I'd read it! Not sure about the Marco/Jake thing if you mean what I think you mean though. I have nothing against it, but I can't see it happening with those two.

It's not going to be exactly what your thinking, at least I don't think it will. I just can't help but notice that there's some subtext on one end and that's all I'm going to say about it.

Fair enough then, looking forward to it.

Okay, so I'm going through and picking out only a few of the books to work with so that I can fit it into a few less books. I'm also combining the David arc and rewriting it in a megamorphs style with shifting view points each chapter rather then a book for each character.

So yeah, this thing's happening.

awesome jesse! ill definately read it, good luck

I was thinking about doing something like this too, not rewriting the whole series, but just doing a mid story book but include drugs and sex and more death and stuff, could be fun

Converting the David arc into a Megamorphs book is a great idea. It could have been Magemorphs 3! Then M3 would have become M4 and M4 could be wiped from existance!

LOL, hey I kinda liked MM4.

BTW, I like your story! I love how it seemed to start off as a prologue and ran right into the story, classic. Also, THANK you for showing some attention to Cassie. Way too often I read fanfictions that practically ignore her all together (since a lot of people dont like her).

Also, is it me, or am I already sensing some chemistry? I like it!

Yes! But because only 16 books was translated into my language and I want an end. I still haven't had time to find out the original ending...

swedish eh, hmm

you can just download the ebooks and run them through a translator online, then you can read them all

or just use them to learn english lol that would be pretty sweet if animorphs helps you learn a language lol

Don't read my fic then. The very first sentence is a spoiler! In fact, you should be very cautious around all the Animorphs threads in case of spoilers.

MM4 was okay, but I wasn't a big fan of it. Maybe it's because the other three Megamorphs books were so great that MM4 just didn't seem up to scratch.

And thanks for reading my fic. I know a lot of people don't like Cassie, but I don't feel that way. I did occasionally find her annoying, but for the most part she was a very deep and interesting character, and the moral conscience of the group.

As for what you said about chemistry, I refuse to comment on that. However, I will admit that I have a serious love interest planned for Mike. If you want to discuss it further, post in the feedback thread, or just send me a PM.

OK, will do.

Also, to anyone else who might be looking at this thread, I highly recommend you check out Phoenix's story (if you haven't already). I'm already hooked.

LOL, it's too bad you weren't around when KA was hiring her ghost writers.

;) Good idea! But as I did that to a Spanish text once (to save time) and could then read two different stories I think I not bother about that. They even translate names
