Have you guys ever tried to find any other fans of the series?
I once recommended this site to some random girl in the library who was reading #26. I don't think she ever did anything, but if she sees this, that was me. Hi.
Also, we did this really cheesy computer dating survey at school as a fundraiser. A bunch of us just had fun with it, and I didn't feel like putting down my real name, so I became Tobias. (Yes, I should really be Jake, but Tobias's name is more recognizable.)
Unfortunately, the only person I've seen get it is Larka.
-
I haven't met any other Anifans -- but then again I tend to hold my cards close to my chest, if you get my meaning.
Would be nice, though. And meeting RAFians in the flesh, too.
-
i've never met any RAFfians.
and it's been SO long since we used that video program (what was it called?).
i think you guys stopped going to that site right after i joined.
i remember getting some friends into the series, but i never met anybody else that openly expressed their love of animorphs.
-
well, i've only met former animorph lovers, not current ones.
-
I was introduced to the series by an semi-enthusiastic Ani-fan, but she's into Twilight now ::) I tried getting my best friend into the series, but she doesn't like reading any books other than those narrated by Ax.
-
I'm still trying to find French AniFans...
And when I meet/find/see AniFans, I tell them about RAF and tell them to come ^^'
-
I don't even know how to ask my chinese classmates if the like animorphs...cuz I don't know what animorphs translates into in chinese...
-
... ^^' good luck
-

haha, ax is great like that.
-
Lol. Yeah, guy introduced me. And now I'm working on getting one of my friends to join.
-
O RLY? who?
-
Joe. Remember when we were talking to him about Animorphs in the booth?
-
Oh yeah! That was fun. Mike was a little confused, though. I don't think Joe really realized the acoustics of the booth, though.
For all you others, our school's lighting booth tends to amplify and project all the sound into the aud. So, there have been some interesting incidents with sudden loud sounds emanating from the booth.
-
Lol. Like the tropic thunder incident?
-
Exactly.
(awkwardly leaves the incident a mystery to everyone else)
-
My siblings/friends used to be really in to the series but I outGeeked them :(
-
There's really none here.
if they're into a book series, it's twilight. only a small majority like other series.
In my school, out of, like, thousand or so people, I found only one person who likes Animorphs currently.
There was another person who used to own some books for the longest time (who gave me her old books, still awaiting 26). And another person who owns 54. No one else that I've heard of.
-
I don't even know how to ask my chinese classmates if the like animorphs...cuz I don't know what animorphs translates into in chinese...
ok so today my friends came over and I showed them an animorphs book, and they didn't recognize it...in fact they didn't even understand the concept of fiction...
-

Wait...you mean they only read non-fiction?
-
that's the only explanation I could come up with...
-
Wow. I'm not sure if I could do that. I'm slightly really addicted to fiction.
-
*holds up a manuscript of faerie, azzy, and cloaky's rp; a la those "Milk: Does a body good" ads*
Fiction. It's good for you.
-
Lol. Yeah...good times.
-
I think it has to do with the school in china...
-
I live for fiction since I'm about 6... How Chineses can live without fiction?????
Morfowt, please explain, what the Chinese schools do to those poor children!!?
-
well...I have no idea...probably I'm just misunderstanding their reaction when I said the kids in the books could turn into animals...
-
Lol poor you morfowt...
Yeah I find people who used to read it, but never people who still read it. When I wear my Animorphs t-shirt I don't get anyone saying anything, but I get looks from people like "aren't you too old to be wearing that" ::)
its lame.
-
lol poor Morfowt, and poor Claire ^^'
My friends also think I'm too old for that... but they read Harry Potter and manga... ;)
-
ah...speaking of which, one of my classmates reads detective conan mangas...maybe I'll show him the book and see his reaction...
p.s. the school doesn't approve of reading manga...
-
They don't approve? lol How care!?
-
huh? how care?...did you make a mistake in there somewhere?
-
hmmm... maybe... I wanted to say nobody care about what school say ;)
PS: I found some French AniFans... adding their MSN (found on old died forums), trying to talk to them... I'll do my best!
-
ah...they don't...yeah I don't really get it that much myself...
-
lol, nice dameg!
-
Yeah I find people who used to read it, but never people who still read it. When I wear my Animorphs t-shirt I don't get anyone saying anything, but I get looks from people like "aren't you too old to be wearing that" ::)

:o
Animorph t-shirts STILL EXIST?!
-
I never have one but... the true question is: How Claire could keep this T-shirt so long, if she wears it everyday!?? lol
And I had answers from 4 French AniFans, 3 will probably come on FRAF, 2 will maybe come on RAF.
-
I wish I could :-\ I keep on yabbering to my friends how much I like Animorphs, but none of them really care. My friend was an ex-Animorphs fan, so that's probably the only person in real life I know of -Sigh-
-
I nose about it!!! Bwahahahahaha!
-
All of my friends think Animorphs is gross, so I'm on my own. :-\ I understand one, he started with reading the one with Rachel burping up the croc, but the others I dont' get.
-
gross? why?
-
gross? why?
yeerks, taxxons, morphing process, the battles. all relatively gross things (to some people).
nature is gross though, so get used to it. :)
-
"gross"? oh, poor thing! Your friend mustn't like fantasy/SF/horror movies, then...
-
awww...*hugs horsefan*
-
I don't find them.
I make them...
lol. I just talk to people about them enough and explain things in certain ways so that I know they get interested in them, lol. Then I give them the link to download the ebooks, and BAM. Snagged another, lol.
-
lol great!! It's the best way! I'd like to make new French fans too, for example young people who read Harry Potter or other books like that... they would like Animorphs, don't you think?
-
awww...*hugs horsefan*
I feel touched! Thank you Azguard. One of my friends is actually kind of reading them, but she's only read the first two or something. Pitiful.
-
its ok. BTW, you know Mr. guy in real life right? if so, do you know Faerie too?
-
Horsefan is my sister. She knows I know faerie, but they don't really know each other.
-
No, I don't. I want to meet her, though. I'll ask Mr. Guy about it.
-
hahaha, that is sooo kewl. you got a ring goin here mr guy!
-
Lol. Hey guy's sister! How goes it?
-
It goes fine, because I know who you are now! >:D Mwa ha hahaha!
-
Lol. Should I be frightened? Hmmm...
-
I really don't know if you should be. There's not much I can do, because I'm eleven.
-
Hmmm. You would be surprised what 11-year-olds are capable of.
-
Hello. Im new here.........obviou sly.
I have never met another aniphan....period, even when I was reading them and they first came out, though they were vastly popular. Which brings me to a question (this maybe should be another thread but Im gonna put it here, a mod can move it if they see fit), how old are you guys? I saw that one of you was 22 (my age exactly) and lives in texas (my state), and another said 11, though I havent looked into a lot of the posts here.
I ask because I havent read these books since 7th grade. I was obssessed with them from 5th through 7th grade, and since finishing the series, havent picked one up since. I got bored and started looking up nostalgic things from the past and thought of this book series. Meant the world to me when I was a kid. I read all the books and side books, though never saw the TV show. The themes were very deep for a child that age. I was surprised to see that they were rated for 3rd through 5th graders. I know a kid that age certainly can read and enjoy the books, the vocab isnt hard, but the story and mature themes seemed a little older to me. I mean, the characters themselves were 13 or so when it started and jake was 16 when it was over (I think), so I guess I always pictured the books for middle schoolers, or kids the age or close to the age of the characters in the book. I know I grew up and aged with the books over the two or three years they came out, along with the characters themselves.
I recently bought a lot of the complete series, side books and all, off of ebay for 110 bucks. I bought them to hold on to a nostalgic peice of my childhood, but mostly to hold for my children, should I ever have any. I havent decided for sure if im going to try and read them again, I would feel childish at this age if I did, but there is much I cant remember, and much more that I would like to. I just worry that reading it now would ruin the picturesque ideal I have in my head of what the books use to mean to me, which at the time I was reading them, was a lot. Revisting certain things, like old shows or cartoons from those day, has indeed shattered my old ideas of what exactly it was, and what it meant to me at the time, and lead to a general disenchantment of the memories I carried. I wouldnt want to do that with this series. Anyway, so yeah, ages anyone? Am I alone on memory lane?
-
Hmmm. You would be surprised what 11-year-olds are capable of.
Is that motivation for me to do something bad to you?
-
I just turned 22!~
-
Deadgumit, I just turned 25 and i started rereading the series from reading it origianlly ten years ago. I didn't find that my view of the books or the characters changed much. In fact, I think it adds perspective now that I am older.
I recommend that maybe once in a awhile grab a book that you bought from ebay and go through a few chapters. I completed 50 of the books in two months... Its what I do to wind down after a long day of work. I too, want to save the books for my future kids, however I like reading them myself.
Acutally the first book I ever read was book 2, that my mother had bought and started reading first. I wouldn't put an age limit on these books. The themes such as morality of war are not simply for middle schoolers.
-
The ironic thing is... there are lots, I mean, LOTS of Animorphs fan in my school. At least a huge bunch of my friends are.
And those publisher stopped translating the books because it didn't reach the expected number of reader.
Funny, because every Anifan I've met curse the stopping. And all of them agree that this book is good.
-
I'm 14, 15 in 6 months
-
Well, doesn't that make me feel better. It makes me feel like I'm one of the youngest RAFians.
-
M'kays. I found peoples on the Warrior's Wish Forum who have read Animorphs, by starting an Animorphs thread (yeah, just imagine, me starting a thread. that does not happen often). I think I found ten people. Maybe more.
-
Well, doesn't that make me feel better. It makes me feel like I'm one of the youngest RAFians.
don't worry, you're not...I think...when is your birthday?
-
October 23rd. 1997. If you wanted it all.
-
1997! I love that band! Erm...
-
There's a band called 1997? I didn't know that.
-
Mmhmm. Chicago local band. And I absolutely love those guys.
-
October 23rd. 1997. If you wanted it all.
actually, yes I think you may be youngest after all, a day or two younger than tobiasfan (V)...
-
Darn. I was getting hopeful.
-
hey, it's all good. i would love to be younger!
-
I think I'd rather be the youngest then oldest... Wait, I think I am the oldest. When did that happen?
Oh well..
Anyway, anytime anyone is near South Beach let me know :)
I didn't know anyone except my mom who got me reading the books when I started reading them years ago. I spoke with other Anifans online in aol chat rooms, but that's about it.
-

Wow!! You must be the oldest!
Paladin, look! It isn't you the oldest! ^^ And I'm not the 2nd oldest, but maybe the 3rd! I feel better now ;)
Deadgumit, may you present yourself in the Presentation forum, please?

Sorry to contradict you, my dear Dameg, but I'm 25 since septembre. I may be not the oldest but I'm still older than AniJen ;-)
-
Yay!
Other ppls quarter century or older! Not alone..
-
I'm almost a quarter of a century old . . . a year off . . .
-
Still isn't helping.
-
Oh nooooo! I forgot you were 1 year older than me, Paladin!
But... but you didn't read Animorphs yet, so... so maybe it's ok...
And, think about it: If Katherine and Michael come back on RAF, they'll be the oldest, won't they? ;)
-
StillIsn't helping.
-
StillIsn't helping.
look on the bright side, you're youngest by ONLY A DAY (it could be worse)...is that helping?
-
Only a day? That is helping! Yay!
-
horsefan. we all love you for who you are, not your age!
-
I have an anifriend IRL actually. We use hotmail for roleplay (where both of us is everyone) But I don't think I'll ever find her here. She's more into Final Fantasy, but that's ok with me. We have some FF roleplays to and sometimes we even let characters from different series meet
-
haha, that sounds like an awesome friend!
-
horsefan. we all love you for who you are, not your age!

That's nice. I actually got my cousin to read a few. I forgot because I haven't seen her in years. I like FF8. That was it for me. Does anyone else live in Florida?
-

Wow! It's crazy to think that I was born nearly ten years before you were... I wouldn't have guessed you were that young judging from your posts. You seem far more mature and older. I think my family had just gotten the internet for the first time ever when I was your age. Times certainly have changed...
Anyways, I have some questions for you. First, how did you even get into this series? It was popular when you were still too young to even read. Second, does this series carry that "childish" and "nerdy" association as it does for your generation as it does for mine? Unfortunately, Animorphs is typically associated with 90's nostalgia and book-fairs, so it doesn't get the recognition and respect that I think it should.
-
is it ok if I answer those question? I'm 14 so it shouldn't be that much different, right?
ah well...
1. I got into it years after the last book was published. the library had a lot of animorphs books, and I happened to like animals...
2. no... but in case it makes a difference, I pretty much live under a rock...
-
I'm 10 years older than Morfowt, 13 years older than Horsefan. Don't worry Rossabo ^^
-
I'm 8 years older than morfowt 11 years older than Horsefan.
next!
-
I do believe we have an age thread SOMEWHERE here on RAF...
-
Yep.
http://animorphsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,318.0.html
-
...I was being sarcastic...
-
oops. sry. well...good job faerie.
-
We probably have every thread you could want SOMEWHERE on RAF.
-
Probably, yeah.
-
But that's part of the magic of RAF.
-
...Wait...
Morf just pointed out sarcasm to faerie?
Yeerk check time.
-
Lol. It's hard to detect sarcasm on the internet. And I wasn't expecting it from Morf.
-
You do that, guy. I'll stay here.
Anyway, we've gone way off-topic here, haven't we?
-
Actually two of my friends already were anifans before I started reading the series. One of them let me read part of a book, I think it was the seventh, I had no idea what was going on and found it boring, I only read the first chapter. I started reading the series about two years ago when I found a whole bunch of them in my town library. I began reading them and realized it was the same series of the books both my friends were reading and began to talk to them about it. nether of them finished the book series, one only could read up to 34 and the other only to 13.
-
And do you still have contact with them, Damien?
-
morfowt slipped!
anyway, so i put up my 25 things on facebook...
and one of them mentioned my love for animorphs
...and two girls responded by saying that they love animorphs! yaY!
-
I can't find anyone around here who still enjoys Animorphs, so I've made it my mission to convert as many friends as possible!
So far 2 of them haven't even finished one book, and 5 refuse to read it just to spite me :'(
-
It wasn't me who found an anifan. It was the anifan who found me.
I was holding book 4 in a study hall one afternon (study halls are long, they seem to drag on and on) and all of a sudden, this dude comes up to me. And asks "what number is that?" I asked if he knew animorphs, and he answered that he read some animorphs books that he found at the library, 1-24, I think. That shocked me.
-
poor sagekiller...
-
I'm currently trying to download the tv series so I can force my friends to watch it. I'm hoping once they've been tied to a chair for 3 days watching the show they might actually be interested enough to read the books.
-
or...after three days you may see something crawl out of their ears...
-
That would be awesome! Then I can convince my former controller friend to take me to the yeerk pool where I'll somehow find a way to track down the andalite bandits and blackmail - I mean convince them into making me an animorph! :o
-
well.. no one my age here would read animorphs.. I even mentioned it to a few people at work since i reordered all the books on ebay today. I think they think I'm nerdy, and I am!
I found an anifan.. that's how my friend Rose and I became best friends in middle school. I walked by her locker and she had an animorphs book and since then we were friends! That was so long ago.. maybe 11 years i dont know.
-
In my old favorite forum (animorfic.com) I posted pics of several bumper stickers I had on my car and where the car could be found. All were animorphs bumper stickers http://earlyauthorincrime.zoomshare.com/index.shtml/2 (http://earlyauthorincrime.zoomshare.com/index.shtml/2) (you have to click to enlarge to see that they are a better quality then they first appear)
I then offered a free coffee to anyone who spotted the car. No one who knew about the car found me. But I got some interesting questions at work.
Also: Just two days ago, I was discussing "embracing your shame nerd" with a fellow world of warcraft player and mentioned the Animorphs. To my absolute delight, we spent the next hour discussing Animorphs.
-
those bumper stickers are kewl.
and that is awesome about work. i haven't discussed animorphs with anyone for such a long time.... =(
-
i always try to on other forums but barley anyone reads it now
-
Not in real life. I did wonder who it was that checked out the first book at work just before it was weeded, but never found out.
Online, I just had to Google. BTW yunyun, check out the LJ community...you have to register, but we're moderately active. Just ask AniJen23.
-
I found an anifan inreal life. She said that she read all the books but then said that she didnt read #19
-
lol, this is an old post
This is an Anifan in realife is like finding Amelia Earhart. It's impossible :( :( :(

Whatevs, I'll bring it back to the topic.
Yesterday at IKEA a random 30 something year old man approached me. I was creeped out at first, but all he wanted to tall me was that he thought it was cool that I was reading TAC.
