Title: Iskoort
Post by: Yarin on January 10, 2009, 04:10:12 AM
What does everyone think about this species?

. . . I personally would hate to be on their planet, for one.

i think they're funny. I would love to have known their history. time to speculate?

I liked reading about them (the logic for having Gossip and Shopper Guilds was really funny), but I probably wouldn't like actual being around them.  Also, and this for anyone who also read Everworld, but did anyone else think EW fairies were kinda similar to Iskoort?

The Iskoort society is pretty interesting. Personally, I liked the Iskoort book and the Chronicles that gave us insight on her alien cultures. The part about the Yeerks and the Yoorts intruiged me as well. If they had ever met, like 300 years in the future, that would've been cool. *fic idea*

Post by: Azguard on January 10, 2009, 02:57:14 PM
it would have taken that long for the yeerks to find them?

Actually, I think Marco or someone said that in the book, so I'm just reusing it.

ok, if the yeerks took earth, where would they go from there?

Somewhere else?  Who knows.

Probably the Andalite Homeworld. several billion new hosts that can be used to support the shock troops.

speaking of alternate-Animorph reality what do you all think about the one in the beginning of megamorphs 3?

i actually though that was cool. the whole idea of Rachel at a reform school or whatever amused me.

oh man I thought they were weird.
I was actually scared of them.
Imagine if you were on their planet by yourself; you'd be killed for sure...they'd look at you like you were a big $.

oh lol, I remember being confused at the beginning wondering if I picked up with right book haha

But I found it pretty funny, the idea of Cassie owning a slave. Was KA just being nice to Cassie by hiding behind the fact of history being changed for her to own a slave or would that have really happened? hmmm
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: goom on January 12, 2009, 12:08:05 AM
i think KA made this a little bit too strange to be believable.
very clever idea though. best yeerk solution.

I really liked the Iskoorts ^^ even if I wouldn't really like to stay in their world too much time ^^'
Ax said the Iskoort are too far and Yeerks need 300 years to find them. But I saw the distance Ax said was too big, and out of the Galaxy (KASU) so...
And it's strange to imagine they're from the same species at the beginning, when we see the Yeerks 30 before the Animorphs, when Andalites just arrive to their planet...

I always thought of the Iskaroot as crazy.

From a technical standpoint my theory is that the Iskaroot tryed to create a culture rather than have one arise that would explain the need of guilds and class positions to fill each aspect of society. Also I think in their former conquests as Yoort they came to apreciate the uniqueness of each of the worlds as "guide" says
"The idea is to have something unique." This eventually evolved into a trade of items unique which came to dominate their society.

Just to ease your fears.

so...the Yoort used to have an empire?

This book I read for one of my classes theorized that commerce is suppose to replace warfare because commerce can achieve everything war does but better, so maybe the Iskoort are an example of that.

commerce based society...

and the yoort were in a different galaxy? gosh, i gotta read that book again.

I wish I could find a pic of an Iskoort.

Guide was one of my favorite characters and The Attack was probably my favorite Animorphs book.

Even with the peace movement, if the yeerks discovered them, I see no reason why they would want to convert that way, simply because the yeerks are proud slugs.

haha thanks ^^ maybe I'll redo it later... I'll need a picture of each species for my role-playing game, so maybe I'll do some by myself.

is it the one about all the different worlds and species?
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: Dameg on January 24, 2009, 08:50:45 PM
heh... yeah. The one who isn't an RPG on forum but an RPG on table, with pen and paper... I'll write the book of rules, with maybe 80% took from Animorphs, 18% from this forum and 2% from my own imagination ^^
If you know Dungeon&Dragon... I'll make something like that... maybe closer to Vampire the Mascarade for the rules.
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: Azguard on January 26, 2009, 03:49:11 AM
oh ok. that's kewl! you plan on playing it with your friends?
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: Dameg on January 26, 2009, 04:21:40 AM
Yeah, with my friends... some of them don't know Animorphs at all, and Paladin know a little (a lot ^^' I talk about it too often  ::)) but didn't read them yet.
But I also wanna make it for other Rolists (= role-players)! I wanna write it for that even if nobody in the role-team read the books or even heard about them, can play the game.
So, I'll write it in French (with help, of course ^^'), and then somebody (AniDragon or Touquie maybe, or both ^^) will translate in English, and I hope other RAFians will play it ^^
When I'll have more time and be writing, I'll ask Richard if he can make a Project board for it... or at least I'll make a thread.
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: Azguard on January 26, 2009, 03:06:11 PM
that would be awesome. how long have you been working on it?
Title: Re: Iskoort
Post by: Dameg on January 27, 2009, 08:51:11 AM
Not so long... no time. In fact, I wrote important things reading the books last time, and I made 2 tables about morphing and infestation but... hem... I did a mistake and... deleted them... but it's ok! I gonna re-make them soon ^^' and Paladin will help me (again) to fix them (again)...
Well... I also think about a lot of things, reading comments on RAF and talking with RAFians... but everything is in my head (like so many stories I'd like to write, but you know: no time)...
Soon is holidays, I'll begin by the tables... ^^'
