You know...after being away from animorphs for a long time, I usually don't bring it up in regular conversation. Even when I talk to people about books I don't mention it that much (compared to when the series was going, I actually made a LOT of friends because i saw them reading animorphs, or because that's what we had in common).
But yesterday, I was hanging out with a friend, and hahahaha...this is funny, but i was talking about how I can't draw...and to prove it I showed her a picture from my camera of the Drode picture I drew....hahaha. I drew the picture for the topic "the Drode" by Estelore. Anyway...I explained that it was something that I drew for Animorphs. Then she goes, "OH! I've read Animorphs". And I was instantly excited (yeah, it doesn't take much. hehe), but it was kewl, especially cuz she was 18 (no offense to Tobiashawk21 and the other youngsters), but I was surprised that someone younger had actually read the series. It just seems like Animorphs is a thing of the past now and nobody after the series ended or as it neared it's ending has read the series.
So...has that happened to you?
-
Yeah, I've met a couple who've read the series.
-
I don't even know anybody outside RAF who reads animorphs.
-
I've met a couple that used to read them back when they were big, and the person was younger, but nobody that still reads them now.
-
Yeah, I've met a ton of people who read them back when they were still being published. Sometimes I'll mention it and they'll be all, "Oh! Yeah, I remember Animorphs. Those were those kids books with the ugly kids on the cover turning into Animorphs, right?"
And then I jump on my soap box tirade about how it may be a kids book, book it is not quite as harmless as the Babysitters Club and I am NOT a dork for continuing my obsession. Okay, well...maybe the last part isn't quite true.
I've never met any younger people who've read them, though. Outside of RAF at least.
-
I met one kid awhile ago who liked them, and then alot of people I know have heard of them or maybe read one book.
Actually my friend and I were reminiscing about the old days the other night and the TV show was brought up, which he actually remembered liking lol cause I got him to watch it cause I already loved the books. And I was like no no no, the tv wasnt good, it was awful, I'll show you good, I'm gonna lend you an Animorphs book. So heres hoping he'll like it, its right up his alley so he should
-
My friend was in my writer's craft class last year, and he asked me to edit his story which was about werewolves. as i read the story, he said that the werewolves could speak to each other through thoughts, denoted them by <speach> and at one point caled it thought speach, so i asked him where he got the inspiration for it, and he acted all distant, pretending not to know, so i asked him if he read animorphs and he got all excited.
anyway long story short, i made him join RAF, he's Leonardodavinci, but doesn't come on really anymore
-
Well some people know that for my birthday my friends bought me a bunch of Animorphs books. So they would say, "Yeah, I remember that series. Cool covers" or something along those lines. I haven't met a real crazed Ani fan for a long long time.
-
I met a couple people who'd read Animorphs in college...one good friend of mine read a few back in the day but refuses to finish them because they became ghostwritten, no matter how much I try to convince her ::)
...and then I made my boyfriend read them all XD (*points at Pez001 who never ever posts ever x3*)
And YAY Terenia you're alive :P :happy30:
-
Real quick: I'm mildly surprised that those of us who are 18 are consdered "young" for Anifans. Just had to get that out.
As it is, I've met a few people now a days who've read Animorphs, mostly because I've actually drug the books around my schools because I've ran out of new things to read and, well, they still make me smile. However, the most recent lasting relationship I've made is my friendship with a guy who I've never managed to convinced to come on. Other than that, most of my friends have at least a vague understanding of it.
-
I think I know someone on campus who was familiar with the books, but never really got into them. I had a best friend in middle school who had sort of read them. I don't think I know anyone outside RAF that's read them all.
Proud of myself. Last summer I introduced my 15 year old sister to the series and got her hooked. Need to check what book she's on.
-
My brother has read the entire series along with me, though he's not really obsessed over the series as much anymore. At least not as much as I am. I had a best friend in Elementary school who used to read Animorphs with me a lot too. Me, my brother, and him all got hooked with #1 when it was first released, and when a Scholastic rep did a small presentation for Animorphs at a book fair at our school.
My friend basically ended up buying every book that came out in the beginning and then would let me and my brother read it after he was done. He was basically the reason how I kept up with the books when I was little because I had no job at the time, and my allowance was pretty much next to nothing to afford a book for myself. I can't remember what book he stopped reading at (I think it was sometime after elementary, when we got split to two different high schools), but by that point I already had a part time job and enough money to afford an Animorph book every month. Unfortunately he stopped reading the series altogether by that point because he lost interest.
-
...I think my mom's the oldest Anifan I've met, I've just realized...Then again...my mom teaches pre-schoolers.
Though I think she stopped reading them after she was sure they were "suitable for my age". Though she may be stealing them again, since I'm not around and left most of the books at home. Hm... ;D
-
I almost forgot: I met two guys in college last year who were Animorph fans!
I'm assuming everyone knows my site Hirac Delest (http://www.hiracdelest.com)? Well before it went online, I used it as a cover for a school project of mine so that I could have time to work on it and still get the credit. Anyways, before I launched Hirac Delest for all of you to see, I had to present it to the entire class through a projector once it was complete.
I went through all the details of what Animorphs was about, why I was doing the project, how I assembled all of my content and data through old floppy disks, etc. By the end of it, a lot of people were impressed, but what really surprised me was that when I went back to my seat, the one guy sitting infront of me and the guy sitting next to me turned around and said that they loved Animorphs too! They were both fans of the show, and only one of them had actually read the books. Neither of them actually finished series though and weren't really interested in doing so anymore, but it was still cool to meet some random people that had liked the series as well :P
-
YEah! Animorphs was the fad back way when. i think most people forget that.
And sry traycon, i was just saying that's young because I've never met people that much younger than me who read the series. Maybe cuz I was a little kid back then.
but, yeah, I think we tend to forget that when you don't have anyone to talk about it with, you don't really talk about Animorphs. I certainly thought I was done with Animorphs...til I got on here. This place is a gold mine!
-
Lol, I was just wondering. I'm actually kind of used to being a fairly young fan, which is always startling to me. But I was also a fairly young fan myself, but I guess younger than you! ;D
And of course, there's always perks to being young. >:D
-
hahahaha :P
I was always the oldest in my group. haha.
but you are not younger than TobiasHawk
-
Actually, that may depend on TobiasHawk's birthday. XP
-
Real quick: I'm mildly surprised that those of us who are 18 are consdered "young" for Anifans. Just had to get that out.
I don't consider 18 year olds to be young Anifans. Okay, younger than ME, but I consider 13 year olds to be "young" since that's how old I was when the series first started, and the series itself has been over for 7 years now.
-
13? See, now, that seems old to me. Then again, I started the series when I was about seven or eight. Possibly six. It really depends on which book I started buying from the stores and when I caught up to KAA. So it was most likely seven or eight. Which, I guess is young. I don't know.
-
yeah. I was 3rd grade when I started...and stopped at about 13 or 14. or at least I slowed down.
Traycon, I think tobiashawk is younger than you....since I think she's 10.
-
Wow, that is younger than me...I didn't know there were fans out there that young.
-
I KNOW HUH? man, that is craazy. she said she read ALL of the series!
-
Wow. I mean, I had no idea the series was still popular enough to be read by girls her age. I mean, honestly yes, at her age, I probably would have been able to clear the whole series pretty quickly, in retrospect. But then again, I was also limited by a monthly update along with spirratic trips to the library to find books I had missed. So I don't know. I know now I could definately do it fairly quickly. Unless I get so bored I try reading upsidown again...
-
yeah...it's interesting that kids still find Animorphs around. I don't see them around anymore. i'll have to check the library, but not at the bookstores def.
-
I barely ever find people who read Animorphs. makes me sad.
Although I did manage to get two people on this site, but still they had both only read a few books here and there...
-
I should get some people on this place...
-
I got my friend who's 9 to read it. Now that's all we ever talk about! It's quite annoying actually...
I learned about Animorphs from another friend when I was about... *thinks for a minute* eight. she was seven at the time. But of course, I was little and stupid and passed it off as just another stupid book series *hits herself for being SO stupid*. I was really into Harry Potter. I'm trying to get my parents into it. So far myy dad read five chapters of book 1... then put it down... a month ago. And my mom has read six chapters of book one. I got my twelve year old cousin to read to. She's sooo into it.
-
hahhahhahaha...oh my gosh. nice!
-
But, unfortunately, all of the rest of my friends wouldn't know a good book if it hit them in the face. I know that for a fact because they have beem hit in the face with an animorph book... or two... or 60...
-
I don't consider 18 year olds to be young Anifans. Okay, younger than ME, but I consider 13 year olds to be "young" since that's how old I was when the series first started, and the series itself has been over for 7 years now.
Do you consider 10 to be young?
(sorry. double post...)
-
If I started reading the series before you were born, I consider you a 'young' Animorphs fan. i.e. anyone under 13.
Oh God, does that make me feel old. I was reading the series before some of you existed... :o
-
Holy crap, I feel old too XD; I'm glad another generation of kids is reading Animorphs though. Oh god tobiasfan, haha, you're another generation...! If a 14 year difference is long enough for a generation...whatev er ;D
-

(sorry. double post...)
you're ten? you're even younger than Ken.
-
I checked something: I am the YOUNGEST person on RAF. Man, I gotta get my friend on this who's a year younger than me.
-
lolololo tobiasfan. you're out child star.
btw, i hope you don't mean it literally when you say "hitting your friends inthe face with animorphs books". haha
-
I've never met another person who reads Animorphs. I have seen some people reading them oncve or twice, but I'm not the type of person to go up to them and say "ANIMORPHS SDJSFKJASFK I READ THAT TOOOOOOO~"
-
dang...that must have been hard...the only person to read animorphs...
-
The only persons I know who "kknow Animorphs are:
- one of the French RAF member who came to Lyon for her studies (she will be in my univ' this year ;) but I go to Japan so...)
- people I talked to too much about Animorphs and sometimes make them read the books ^_^'
- one of my friends who said she already saw few episode of the TV show...
Nothing more...
Animorphs weren't so famous in France. And look, about Remnants, it's new books, and they're already more rare (rarer?) than Animorphs books!! It was a fight to find the volume #7 in French ^_^'
-
then you should go to the library in my city when I was in america. there were so many remnants books, 10 people could borrow the entire series at the same time. Can't say the same for animorph books though.
-
Oh, it isn't hard to find them in English, on internet.
But in French... the translations! In shops: no way! On internet: you should be lucky ^_^' I took the last volume #7 of 4 websites (Amazon, Abebooks, PriceMinister, Fnac: now I think they don't have them anymore ^_^')
PS: Remnants in French => Les Survivants...
-
The last time I met someone my age who read Animorphs was in middle school. I have'nt seem him since, I wonder what ever happened to him....
-
yeah. he's a controller now.
-
yeah. he's a controller now.
LoL... Oh, no!! Why am I laughing, that's terrible?! :sad49:
That's bad if he's a controller because he knows I read Animorphs too.
*paranoid* What if they come to get me?
Oh well, hopefully he's forgotton my name by now. LoL, here's hoping!
-
yeah. he's a controller now.
Oh, no! That means that my best friend is one too!
...I always knew it...She's too...her...
Behold, the irrefutable logic of me. Or is it easily refutable. Hm...
-
hahaha, I find it funny that you're laughing. I see your dark side. lol.
-
Oh, I now understand why I didn't see any more my friend who liked Animorphs...
But... heh! It's my fault! I make her reading Animorphs and now she's a Controller!! Oh no! ANd Paladin! He gonna be a COntroller too!! Paladin, run, run!!!!!!!
*really paranoid girl*
-
I know, I'm surprised the Yeerks haven't found this board yet.
of course, ....there must be a reason why so many other sites have gone silent...
-
Yes. In class last week I mentioned my website, and a colleague of mine said she knows what Animorphs is, and that she used to read it.
-
I found a few people.
There's this person from church who has a daughter who was a big fan. Another which I found last year, might want to call him sometime, and just today, I found someone who's read them and owns a few books. And, in science class, someone randomly comes up to me and asks, "do you know animorphs?" I respond with a simple yes. I'm guessing he knows it and has read a few books.
-
how did he know you knew?
-
Pretty much every time I ask someone about Animorphs, I get a blank stare or a confused look, or they just ask what it is. It's so sad. :'(
..I've forgotten if I posted in this thread before or not :P
how did he know you knew?
LOL! I wonder... :P
-
...oh my gosh.....he's a controller.
-
I have no idea how he knew. He probably saw one of the books hanging out or has seen it during lunch when it's just laying on the table when I get up to eat, I'm guessing.
-
so you take ur animorph books with you?
-
Yeah, of course I do. Well, some of them. And I only bring one with me.
If I'm bored during like, I don't know, study hall. It's an hour and a half long, (it seems like it never ends!) and if I'm done with my homework that's what I'll start doing, I'll start reading to pass the time.
Plus, bringing a book with me helped me find the person that might give me more animorphs books. (she says she owns 1, 2, 3 and 54, I don't know what else, but there's got to be more than that) This is how I see if there are any more people out there that know them.
Oh, and I forgot one, a little girl that I met a week or so ago. She likes warriors but she claims to have 6. (I showed her a picture of the book on the computer, "the one with the fly" she said)
-
lol, the one with the fly. how old was she?
-
Sadly I have never run into another person who has ever read Animorphs. I'm starting to think I'm the only one in the tri-county area. ::)
-
I think she was about the age of one of my neighbor who's in third grade, I don't really know how old she was. 7 or 8 perhaps. (don't know why she has it, though, beats me)
I'm planning to ask the person sometime about how he knew I knew animorphs. But being the shy person I am, I didn't do it today. He's in about half my classes, and he is usually right near my locker in the morning, so I have plenty of chances to ask about it.
-
heee....you can do it!
-
I found I found!!
One of the American guys in the student house where I have my bedroom knows Animorphs! He stoped near the #20, so when he knew I had all of them on my computer... he became crazy lol. I gave him many of the books, and give more later. He re-read the #1 this morning and felt happy ^^
And one of the Frenchs in the student house (he also was in my university in France) has a friend who like Animorphs and... read the Remnants ebooks! I'd like to know if she knows this place ^^
Then... I should go to Japan to find people who know American novels.. ^^'
-
oh my! that is awesome! hopefully he'll continue reading! then there will be restored animorph fan!
-
Ya know, there are probably lots of Anifans in the closet. :D ;)
-
they need to come out!
-
Just met a guy who "used to read Animorphs" last night. He was interpreting my roomie's artwork when I was surfing the web and saw one of the pages I was on.
Unfortunately, I didn't push the subject.
-
lolololol. i dun think anyone of my roommates has seen this site...
-
theres a few people in my grade that have read them, and im a sophmore(10th). But i see alot more younger kids reading them. at my little brothers school, the entire grade is reading them. But there all young, like 11-13. i think there is another generation of anifans coming, but they probably wont be as enthusiastic as us about it.
-
wait a minute, are you serious? an entire grade reading them?! nice!
-
wow!!! Amazing! I also thought the new kids didn't even hear about Animorphs! But maybe they heard about it because of Remnants...?
-
Hopefully, they're a seed that will nurture and grow...^-^
-
yeah!
i always thought nobody was hearing about them anymore...
-
Okay, I talked to person today in english. His answer was that a kid named chad told him that I read them. Great. I know quite a few chads, didn't even give me a last name. This is going to fun.
Oh, speaking of chads, there's this person named chad in band class who's also on youtube, he says he's heard of them and had read a few books.
-
oh my gosh, you're just on a streak here bladepaw. I better get on it!
-
I think there was a class at my university before about Animorphs...I think I saw it on Truth's website actually. It makes me so sad that I could have met a lot of Anifans if I had taken that class. But I wasn't enrolled in the university at that time. D:
-
Ya know, there are probably lots of Anifans in the closet. :D ;)
How did you find out about that?? :o
*moves extra furniture in front of closet door*
Closet-dwelling Anifans: "LET US OUT OF HERE!!"
Toby's mom: "What was that noise, Toby?"
Toby: "Heh heh, nothing mom."
;)
-
i should start checking my closet.
-
Lol!
-
yeah! Today, a Japanese friend came to my room and saw the Animorphs books in Japanese. He began to read the first... in fact he read about 1/3 of the book ^^ and he likes so he'll continue. I made a new fan! lol
-
OH MY GOSH, YES! and soon, we may infest him as well,er , i mean, yeah...n/m.
-
Today in second-that's-really-fourth-block study hall, I found someone who's read them. (I haven't met her since last year.) Only to find out that her grandfather has read them and collected all of the books. depending how old her grandfather is, it appeals to people of ages, I guess.
-
my friend on xbox recognized my 9466 clan tag as animorphs :]
-
I am so upset!
I thought i had turned my dad to the ANI side but no. He thought it would be more appealing to KIDS! ::)
What is wrong with him! He reads a book written by a 16 year old and LOVES it and does NOT say it was written for kids but reads Animorphs and says he it was! What is wrong with him! Advice! On the double!
-
tell him its awesome and if he gives it another chance he should loveit!
-
ok, so last night, I was with two friends eating and we started talking about people who dressed like 50's, 60's, etc, and then we started wondering what made the 90's so unique. That's when I slipped in Animorphs. Turns out, both of them have read them, one actually colleceted all 54 books. One of them said she never really admitted it because her friends and her were girls and it seemed more like a boy-ish series.
But she loved it and when her friends would ask her who she had a crush on she would say "tobias", and they would ask "who is that?" and she would say "an animorph". haha
they got into it because her brothers read it and she thought it was lame but she picked it up and got into it. my other friend got into because of the "double-covers". haha
anyway, i told them about this place and that they could read the e-books here. Then we started talking about what it would be like to reread animorphs and they both said they were now in the mood to reread them! hahaha....
...i dunno if they're ready for the forums yet tho...
-
when it was a fad, i had a lot of friends that read it.
that and the 'redwall' series. those are good books.
-
Shhhhh Azguard, somebody could read you...
Hm... I never thought old people would read Animorphs. Maybe my father would like if it was comics or TV show... He doesn't read a lot of books, but he must like this kind of story (he likes animals and aliens ;))
But I can't imagine my gran-ma read them O_o (not only because she's about blind, but...)
I think it's amazing! I'd like to have a grandfather like him... maybe.
My Japanese friend asked again to read Animorphs yesterday when he came. lol. I think he's around the middle of the 1st book now.
-
hey Dameg! haven't seen you around in awhile.
but anyway, that's kewl about your friend. I need to attract more friends that read animorphs. I should get a animorphs pin and put it on my backpack!
-
If I tried that...I don't even wanna think about it :-[
-
how come?
-
Yeah... if only I could find a poster of Animorphs... or a T-shirt... ;) But I already talk about Animorphs everytime! lol
And, Azguard, open your eyes, I'm always here! ... except when I don't have internet...
-
I've noticed that there are certain people that I never know because we don't frequent the same boards. ^^ like, different parts of a town...
-
lol it's true ^^ same for me... I go only on few subjects, when it seems interesting to me... I think it's the same for everybody, too many messages by day ;)
-
yeah, sometimes people pop up and I'm like "who is that?" but apparently they're pretty frequent visitors.
i like it! haha
-
Only on this forum
-
actually I was talking to one of my co workers about talking to people from australia, and she's like: "Oh where did you meet them?" I said: "On this forum about animorphs." she's like: "OMG i used to read Animorphs all the time!!" lol it was pretty funny
-
and then?!
-
Yeah, Ellimist, tell her to come here!!! ^^
My Japanese friend who read Animorphs now, like them so much that he's already thinking about translating them (from 6 to...) in Japanese!! lol He's a little crazy ^^ But good luck to him!
-
is he gonna come to RAF?
-
My friends and I were in a cab and we were talking children's literature being really dark, so I mentioned Animorphs, and he was all like "yeah, man, K.A. Applegate..I used to read those." I didn't give him RAF's address because it sounded like he didn't want to admit ever reading them, and here I'd be, older than him, giving him a forum about the kids' series I'm still crazy about, heh. But maybe I should've.... ;D Maybe he's on here right now o.O It's like Missed Connections on craigslist.com...
-
Doo it, doo it, doo it! 8)
-
I'm currently in the middle of trying to convince my friend to join RAF with me.
I don't know how well it's working...
-
I keep getting Dave (Pez001) to post more often x3 Like meee!...but alas, he only comes on to post about infestright.com and instant oatmeal x3
-
I'm trying to convince the American guy here who still like Animorphs (and re-reading them... I gave him the ebooks ^_^) but about the Japanese guy... don't know, because he's better in French than in English and doesn't have internet (yet)...
But maybe I'll show him this forum (on my computer), later... (I also made him crazy about GTA, and he's now busy playing ^^')
-
hahahhahha. nice nice. I wonder how many of us have real life friends on here...
-
I know i dont =( no1 i've met in my school of 2,000 have ever liked animorphs...... but i'll keep my fingers crossed
-
I think I forgot of this kid that likes animorphs, he's a grade behind me. Then Denise and Danielle, twin sisters that supposedly are giving me their animorphs books. I'm still looking foward to getting them someday.
Then a person named Kenshara who's in the same grade as me. She says her grandfather read them and collected them. So she read them as well.
-
don't worry UED, one day, one day, you will meet someone. and it might be someone on RAF! ^^
-
Hope so. But it looks pretty bleak right now :'(
-
well, just wait until the RAF convention!
-
yep :D hope that will be fun.
-
yes! who's planning that anyway?
-
It was awesome. A week-ish ago, during a rehearsal, faerie_larka and I were talking about something that happened here. Our friend wanted to know what we were talking about, and we said, "Yeerks."
He replied, "ANIMORPHS!?!"
We now have him hooked on the eBooks, and he'll probably join eventually.
-
oh my gosh! i totally forgot you and faerie know each other in real life. how bomb is that?!
oh my gosh, that is soooo kewl! you guys are workin it!
-
One of my newly good friends used to watch it.
-
i was at my bro's 21st, and my sister was there (i havent seen her in ages) and i met her BF, and it turns out he's a massive ani fan, but he doesn't have the net, so he can't join... same with my sister
-
whoa...that's a kewl bf!
-
my next door neighbors are giant fans. they have the first season, and most of the books. theres three of them, and they all loved the series, i was on the bus reading one of the books, and he invited me over to watch the shows.
-
are you serious? are you still neighbors with them?
-
well, just wait until the RAF convention!
Wait...Please don't tell me that you're pulling my leg! Are y'all seriously planning a RAFcon? :o
Anyway, back on topic, I FINALLY GOT HIM [my friend whom I've been trying to get on for weeks] ON THE SITE!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
For those of you who haven't met him yet, he's ShadeFawks. Or Fawkes. Whatever.
-
Okay, so I got into this conversation about Animorphs with my partner for musicianship class yesterday, and he was talking about how he cried when David killed Tobias, and then I was laughing so hard at his impression of his 10 year old self bawling that I couldn't even sing.
I think we got into the conversation because I had an Animorphs quote on my facebook. xD
-
My Japanese friend finished the 5 books translated in Japanese... He really likes!
[MISSION COMPLETE!]
Soon, he'll continue with the ebooks ^^
And now, it's another Japanese friend (a girl this time), who is reading the first book in Japanese ;) I'll tell you what she thinks about it...
-
well, just wait until the RAF convention!

yes, he is awesome! and about RAFcon, that's like one of those urban myths...fantastic, but based on so very little truth. :P
-
:P
I don't know if I would use the word awesome...(Hehe, I tease, Fawks!)
I figured about RAFcon, but you never know...Hm...Maybe we could set up a booth at DraconCon... ;D
-
Hey now, RAFcon is totally happening. xD
