X) Well, that's a good point. The reason I introduce it, though, is fairly obvious. GESB Mar is quite literally a God, or a deva/seraphim/immortal Form depending on belief system. :P He has enough passive Belief from multiple religions to fuel a small country, and normally having a physical body at the moment wouldn't stop him. If I didn't have a convenient way of making him as weak as everyone else sans some fun movement tricks, he'd be ludicrously overpowered.

And he's way too fun and self-indulgent to destroy. ;) So...yeah. :p I'm debating bringing Gallant Regale or Maude, though. Would you guys prefer a golden-haired playboy or a fourteen year old girl? XD

I haven't met either, so it doesn't matter to me. Bring the one that's more impressionable. >:)

I got the idea earlier that he was talking about Terenia. When he started talkiing about someone escaping, then a sub visser disappearing.

Yeah, Terenia thinks Dan is dead too. :3

Funny, the Empire can make you believe all sorts of things that aren't true.

....just for clarification this version of Terenia's brother is from the same timeline as the Terenia you've seen in the bar (albeit maybe a year behind where Terenia is...which is still two years in the future from when you saw her last). The Tamora/Zorish that I brought in awhile ago were from an alternate timeline. Tamora is very, very dead. There's no way around that. She was decapitated in front of a bunch of witnesses.

Why must you be so bad to your characters, anyway? When I think up characters, I think Marty Stus. when you think up characters, you think broken birds.

Temrash was originally a big Marty Stu in my head. I toned him down at the bar. Remember the part where he's talking to Terenia about being the most feared and wanted individual in the empire? She's doubtful, and I had him concede that may not be quite true. Also he could totally kick Visser Three's butt, no matter what morph he's in. Realistically, he might just have an explosive or two behind his back, and if V3 attacked him, he'd blow half the guy's body off.

I've been a wimp most of my life, so I like to fantasize about action heroes that can kick anybody's butt.

Action heroes/comic book heroes are fun to a degree, but I find it's more interesting to explore character's mental abilities and drawbacks than the physical ones. It's why most of my characters are human or human controllers -- they have no special physical advantage. Their strength (and weakness) comes from their own personalities and what's happened to them throughout their lives.

Of course, a good action sequence is fun too, but I find that those scenes are even more fun to write if it's with a character who you're emotionally invested in because you've spent a good deal of time developing their own emotional status.

To be honest, I don't explore much about a character's thoughts, feelings, and motivations in my head. It's probably why I haven't been all that good at writing fiction. I just want to think about the "fun" stuff. Building Claxter's character has been fun too, though. I think it helps that I'm interacting with other people, so the characters are more diverse. I hope he goes far.

Yeah, interactions definitely help with building characters.

I think it's important to explore character motivations, because otherwise they can behave erratically. Terenia would never walk up to Claxter and give him a hug, because her personality, along with her experiences with him, would make that utterly nonsensical. In fact, she wouldn't walk up to anyone and give them a hug, because her personality is so strongly against it. Unless it is someone she deeply trusts. All of that rests on her past. If I haven't explored her personality, I might make her do something that doesn't make sense. Similarly, things that do make sense (like her killing her sister) might not happen simply because I don't want them to (I really, really didn't want to kill off Tamora, but I had no choice).
