there was a thing in the Anibase about Tobias' hair. Apparently they picked the kids for the cover art, and then when he showed up for the photoshoot he'd dyed his hair brown. So she had one of those "well great what do I do now?" kind of crises.
I go off topic on purpose.

Why do you think they made Jake and Tobias look so similar sometimes? Sometimes they're both pictured as brown haird and about the same height. That's a big reason why I wish tobias' hair remained blond.

Someone remind me to rant on how ludicris the opening missions are from 42 and 44 when we get to those in the rereads.
Ridiculous

I shall do just that. But do explain why. I thought they (well, at least 44) were quite plausible.

I see a little silhouette of a man SCARAMOUCH SCARAMOUCH will you do the fandango?
You can laugh or you can cry. Personally? I do both. At the same time.
Animorphs: The first 10 were light, funny, still innocent. But slowly, it got darker, more moral, passionate and mature. And then it was messy, bloody. It was chaos. It was the end.

Dude, #42 had more of a militia feel to it. They were striking an enemy front. A quick in and out mission.
#44, was on a par with the 'crashed-bug-fighter' mission in I think #11. The idea to reveal the enemy's presence/acitivity to the world. I thought it was quite sound.

And yeah, Tobias' model hair-change was a big diff in the books. I half-way think they changed models in general.
I remember getting the Jake/Tobias-look mixed up in the begging also.
For that reason, I opt to think of Tobias as blonde. Not the way he is shown in the first books and even in the tv show.

Exactly the problem
42 was trying shutting down portable kandrona's for the masses; in effect the same as the mission of 25; that is universal yeerk pools

And the bug fighter thing in 44, they have the blue box, several aliens, the chee all at there disposale, and there is still the alien alloys from the toilet in zone 91. Why would they need a piece of fighter. They've done it before

Both of these opening may have been more, even there own story, but then its just made into random and fairly weak path to the fantastic voyage and a trip round the world :P

Why didn't Marco morph the cobra and eat David? That would have been easy. ::)

I'm in the middle of a reread and I'm on Megamorphs1

Marco's driving and running over trashcans...

"Do you hate trash cans?" Jake asked. "Is that your problem? Do you just HATE TRASH
CANS?!!"

it makes me laugh every time

does anybody else wish that they'd not put the 'intro' into all of the books?
i really doubt someone would jump right into the series, and it wasn't fair to us loyal fans (who had to re-read the same thing over and over).

maybe it was just for filler? still, it wasn't needed.
my name is jake would be enough.

I think by the last 10 or 20 they were unnecessary.

I was more upset that they contradicted each other than anything. And that you could never just SKIP them because sometimes threads of plot were in there.

Well, the intros average a max of about 2 pages in the large-font small-page Animorph books, which is like 30 seconds of reading and after that it sort of goes into actual plot matters. It might get repetitive, but it's not really horrible in my opinion. For the amount of time it takes to read, I think it's fair for the people who DO jump into the series. It took years to finish, so I expect a new kid to pick a book off the shelf with the prettiest cover sooner or later. I doubt that most people even here at RAF started with book 1 or 2.

What does it mean to be free?

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I just noticed the Full Member rank on RAF and got a chill.
