Animorphs versus Mythic Creatures
« on: September 05, 2008, 09:33:34 AM »
Maybe I've just been reading too many comic books or Joss Whedon Tv shows but it would have been cool seeing the Animorphs fight Dracula or vampires or werewolves or Frankenstein or zombies or mummies and ghosts and other supernatural terrors.

It could have made for a great Megamorphs. Maybe Marco could have been the gang's frequent savior because of his pop culture knowledge of movie monsters just like Tobias was with his knowledge of paleontology in Megamorphs 2.

Haha!

Well, they did incorporate one mythical creature, in a way - the centaur figure from mythology.  Only they added more eyes and a built-in weapon.  And a few other differences, of course.

but yeah.  "megamorphs 5: here be dragons" or something, lol.  that would've been great.  And by great I mean hillarious.

Or, what if they'd met some superheroes, like batman or spiderman, or something?  That would be interesting too (I think) - and of course, Marco and Jake would be jerks and try to get the two to fight, so they could finally settle their bet on who would beat the other...

Now you've got me thinking . . . Animorphs vs. Medusa.  Would they be stupid enough to make eye contact?  Ax would be in serious trouble against the Gorgon . . .

Not to mention Charybdis, Scylla, Minotaur, Hydra . . . it would be interesting to see.

Manticore, Chimaera, Hippocampus...
The universe is, instant by instant, re-created anew. There is, in truth, no Past, only a memory of the Past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. The only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.

I've always wanted to write a fanfic of them coming across Nessy, but getting them to Scotland would have been a challenge...

Manticore, Chimaera, Hippocampus...

Hold up just a moment!

Is not the Hippocampus a galndular organ in the bodies of many mammalian life forms?

Half-horse, half-fish, Kelran.  Unless I mistaken, of course.

Esty, can you confirm this or correct me? :P

Not necessarily. Maybe there's some race of aliens that are werewolves, and that's where the legend came from. Doctor Who does stuff like this all the time, and it's a sci-fi.

I totally agree with this.  Since it's sci-fi, there's a lot of freedom to incorporate werewolves, etc., if it's done well.

Kelran and Cloaky:

Y'er both correct.

Sorta' the way that a 'tee' is both a shirt and a peg used in golf. TOTALLY unrelated, but the same word.
Then again, they may be related. *ponderponderponder*

Of course it could also be a coincidental intersection of alphanumerics.
