Chris nods and leads Tess past the Hork-Bajir towards the room he indicated. He doesn't take the time to look at his surroundings, intent upon his goal. There will be time for that later, he reasons, focusing on getting Tess to safety.

It isn't until they step into the med bay that Chris feels even remotely like he can calm down. "Over here," he says, directing Tess to the closest equivalent to a bed that the place has to offer. "Here, lean on me, I'll help you up." He watches Tess nervously as he tries to make her comfortable.

Efaen doesn't respond, fingers clutching at Daniel's shoulder as she leans most of her morphed form's weight on him rather than Tara. By the time they reach the ramp her vision is blurred and she collapses to the metal ground in a heap. Mike's already pale skin is even more blanched, beads of sweat trailing down his forehead as Efaen struggles to keep conscious. A shiver runs through her and, despite the terrible burn she suddenly feels cold.

Terenia, having made it onboard ahead of Daniel and Tara, is looking around the cabin, struck by the familiarity of it, when they enter and Efaen collapses onto the ground. Jerking towards the Mike look-alike instinctively, she recoils when she sees the charred flesh that is where a leg once was.

"Oh God," she whispers, bringing a hand to her mouth, her stomach twisting in revolt. She knows it isn't Mike, but seeing his body mangled like that makes bile rise in her throat.

Niko jogs onto the ship, digging the protein packets out of his pockets as he stares around at the Mirage's sleek interior. The tiny part of him that isn't weary with grief and terror notes with grim appreciation that this is his first time on an Andalite ship.

He looks back to the others, waving Dom along.

Tara grunts with effort as she drags Efaen's nearly full weight across the bay, struggling even with Daniel's help. Her own body protests the effort after such a long time without much effort being expended at all.

Shredder fire lances over their heads, dangerously close, and that urges Tara onward with a spike of life-affirming fear. She curses under her breath.

Finally, sweating and out of breath, Mike's form is pulled up the Mirage's ramp and into the safety of the cabin. Tara drops Efaen unceremoniously, slumping against a wall to catch her breath, though she is still standing.

Claxter finally manages to hit the Andalite, who had come from cover long enough to take a shot towards the ramp. Once he was down, Claxter went over to Mike to pick him up and carry him into the med bay. "We'll fix you up, Mike." He said. He realized he just accidentally called the guy by name, but hopefully that wouldn't cause problems. They were mostly inside the ship anyway. The mission was practically over. <<Prince Ossanlin, do we have a procedure to help heal Mike? He doesn't look good. I'm getting him into the med bay.>>

Esarvit doesn't waste time with a reply, just makes his way over to the ladder. At least the hosts are up. Once again, his Hork-Bajir instincts help guide him onwards, and he's almost tempted to brace with one hand and shoot with the other now that he's got some altitude. His cautious side kicks in, however, and he decides to wait at least until he's made it to the top.

Joanne hurriedly rushes up the ladder when the shots begin to ring, grabbing each rung as if it were a lifeline. It is abundantly clear that the rescue team is running out of time. "****!" she curses as she notices someone she recognizes getting mangled below her. It's Mike---she's pretty sure that's the name of Corliss' host. She does not look back to check him out: it is abundantly clear they have to get wherever they're going as quickly as possible. She has no idea who's made it and who hasn't---her focus is blindly ahead, on her own life.

Joanne dashes across the landing pad,  dropping the supplement in the process. No time---she's far faster without it on open ground even without boosting herself. A part of her thrills at the old rush---her feet hitting pavement,  gunshots behind her. Joanne then hits her foot against something hard,  thankful she didn't bruise it this time. Joanne frowns as the others run past her and finally realizes it's the ramp of the ship precious seconds later. She darts into the ship with the others, by pure luck not getting shot from her delay.

She recognizes her current location far more quickly than the ramp. It is pretty hard to forget the place you almost died. "It's that freak Ossanlin!" she calls out without thinking. "Ossanlin rescued us! ....crap,  oughta thank the blue bugger. Why save me?"

Joanne notes that Mike did make it aboard,  and the entire party has gathered around the injured man. Hah--one of her favorite backers got his leg blown off. "Hmm," she frowns, glancing up at Claxter. "If ya can speak English or somethin',   can ya tell me if he's gonna make it? I know him in part."

Claxter looked annoyed at Joanne. "We were meant to discuss this afterwards, so as not to startle anyone during the escape." He said, sticking to spoken language, though any Human in earshot of her would have heard her mention Ossanlin. "We should hopefully be able to fix Mike, though I make no guarantees. We are saving you because you are in the group of people we came to save. We didn't expect you to be here."

"Prince Ossanlin has been a rebel sympathizer for a while, and wished to help right the wrong that has happened to the rebellion. I don't know what will happen to us all after this, but saving who we can if better than leaving all of you to this place. Most of you deserve better." He said this in English, having heard plenty of it at the bar.

"Heh, most of you, " states Joanne, thinking of herself. So that was it. She was just in the right place at the right time. With any luck, Keshin was too. She glanced around the crowd of humans, noting the familiar faces. It didn't look like a disaster to her, but how was she to know? Half the rebellion could be dead. An' I'm still alive. That's irony for ya.

Respecting the guy's request,  Joanne said nothing else. Maybe she could assess the damage by speaking with Tara. This wasn't her catastrophe. This was barely even her war.

Ehvrin begins to climb up behind Esarvit.  A stray shot grazes a leg and he grunts in pain, but continues to climb.  He pulls a pulse-detonator from his belt and pushes the correct button sequence to activate it.  He drops it back down the hole once he's high enough up.  Shouts echo up from below just before a powerful compression wave explodes outward.  It would stun any of the Andalites that had entered the room, and maybe even some in the corridor.  The compression wave dies out as it bounces randomly up the shaft, giving Ehvrin little more than a bump from below.

He finally extricates himself from the top of the shaft and turns his eyes on Aurellia.  <<That's all of us, we must go!>>

~

Aurellia sighs with relief and nods, firing a few shots randomly into the hallway before turning and running for the opposite door behind Enorryma, Ehvrin and Esarvit.

~

Ossanlin breathes a sigh of relief as the remaining four Warriors run out from the Maintenance hangar.  He continues to cover them from his position as Shredder fire begins to lance out from the hangar.  Apparently Aurellia had had some effect in keeping that building clear.  As the four make it safely aboard the Mirage, Ossanlin turns, firing behind himself as he runs for the ramp an dives into the camouflage.  He stands and runs up the ramp, pushing the manual access panel to close it.

<<Leskel, we're all aboard, get us out of here!>>

~

NARRATION

The Mirage lifts off from the landing pad, Shredder fire still lancing out towards where it had been.  As the Mirage glides seamlessly through the camouflage field around the facility, it disappears from view and the loaded yacht leaves the thin atmosphere of the moon smoothly, the viewports showing the blue-green gas-giant planet to good effect as the Mirage makes its way toward a point where it can enter Z-Space.

~

Ossanlin looks around the cabin...everyone had made it.  Everyone was safe...it was time to let them know...

"Please do not be alarmed..."  He says in Galard.

<We are not who you think we are.  I am Ossanlin-Rethin-Sephirel...no-longer a member of the Andalite military.  We have gone against the Electorate in our acts today...and we do not plan upon returning.  We have become Rogues, and we have done so because of what they have done to you.>

Ossanlin begins to demorph. The changes somewhat slow due to having done so much of it so recently.  When he's back in his own body, he regards the hosts evenly.  <Some of you do not know me.  I do not expect your trust until it is earned.  Perhaps Tara can allay your doubts...she knows me rather well.  But if you'll permit me, I must prepare the pool for your controllers.>

He picks up Aurellia's pack and steps toward the med-bay before turning and to look at Mike with his main eyes.  <Oh...and Efaen-Purinial-Serfit...you should demorph if you wish to continue living.>  She probably hadn't even known it was him.  He can only imagine what she thinks of that little revelation.

~

Aurellia drops her pack on the deck and begins to demorph as well, the changes smooth and quick for her.  She nods as well as her Prince picks it up.

~

Ossanlin proceeds to the med-bay and stops as one of the hosts is lying on the low support gurney.  <She is ill?>  He immediately commands the stasis field to arm and she lifts from the hard surface on a cushion she would barely be able to feel, floating supported above the gurney.

He picks up the case in his free hand and moves to the other gurney which is currently supporting very large metallic bowl.  He commands the stasis field to lift and heat it to a comfortable temperature, and then uses a small surgical hose and begins to fill it with sterile water.  he pulls a few mineral packets out of one of the bricks in Aurellia's pack and adds them to mix in as the pool fills.  Once it's up to a decent depth, he pulls several portable kandrona generators from the pack and activates them, setting them in the fluid.  He opens the case and begins the process of opening each cell and allowing the Yeerks inside each to slide unceremoniously into the filling pool.  He places the empty cells back into the case and sets it in an unneeded corner before turning to regard the hovering human female again.

<I'm familiar with human anatomy, but not enough so to perform medical procedures of any complexity, I'm afraid...>  He regards the male by her side.  <Do you know what is wrong?  She appears unharmed, though obviously gravid.>

<This is Efaen!?> Claxter said as he put her down in the med bay. How long had Ossanlin known that? Why had she morphed Mike? Questions ran through his head, but right now he had to make sure she maintained consciousness long enough to demorph. He grabbed some stimulant, and injected it into her, as she looked half conscious as it was. He began demorphing.

<Efaen? Can you hear me? It's Claxter. You're safe now. Just try to demorph.>

He noticed Ossanlin talking about the Human woman. <Sir, I think she's pregnant. Given how large her stomach is, as well as a few other details, it reminds me of when my aunt was pregnant. I don't know how close she is to giving birth, or exactly what to do.>

Esarvit sets his remaining supplies down by the others before demorphing at last, pacing silently as he recovers his balance.

Tess stares at Chris in shock as it is revealed to them who their rescuers truly are. By the time Ossanlin approaches her, however, the surprise has worn off, sharpened into irritation by his and Claxter's words regarding her. She yelps in surprise at the sudden change in her elevation, reaching out for something to cling to until she realizes she is stable. Then she just settles for searching for Chris's hand with her own.

"I'm right here," she protests breathlessly as they speak of her. "You don't have to talk over me." She turns her dark-eyed gaze on Claxter. "And yes, I'm pregnant, well spotted." Sighing, Tess leans her head back and closes her eyes. "The contractions stopped, so I think I'm okay. I just need to rest."

Then she cracks open one eye, favoring Ossanlin with the smallest of smiles. "Thanks for this. You wouldn't happen to know if a Yeerk named Keslin is here?"

Daniel sighs, letting go of Efaen and straightening. He seems to know that, with the myriad of cheerleaders the Andalite suddenly has, he's just in the way. Making his way towards Terenia, he puts a hand on her shoulder again. "This isn't a good place for you. Let's see if we can find a quieter corner, alright?" he murmurs.

<Sorry ma'am.> He said, feeling embarassed. The woman could have just said what was wrong without him speculating. He turned his attention back to Efaen. He hoped she remembered him, and would be happy to see him. Though the most important thing was that she was ok.

Chris hovers near Tess the entire time, clinging to her hand. A chill goes through him when the Andalite introduces himself. The name Ossanlin is familiar, though he has never met the Andalite personally. The familiarity does nothing to ease the anxiety that twists his stomach, though. From one trap into another, he cannot help but think.

"Give her space," he demands of Ossanlin and Claxter. "She'll be fine."

He leans over and kisses her forehead. "It's alright, my dear," he murmurs. "We're safe now. You can pummel them later, alright?" He sighs, hoping that they truly are safe.

Dom's eyes narrow imperceptibly when Ossanlin reveals himself and he looks at Niko uneasily. "I do not like this," he murmurs under his breath.

Terenia allows herself to be tugged by Daniel, her free hand still covering her mouth, still torn between crying and throwing up at the injured imposter. "I'm going to kill her," she says, repeating her words from earlier. They come out half a sob, though, and she finds herself clinging to Daniel as he directs her away.

There is a sudden tumbling sensation, and Keslin mentally winces as he is upended from his cell. He can sense dry air around him for a brief moment, then abruptly he is immersed in liquid once more. Kandrona! His half starved body stretches out, relief flooding his system at the return of the nutrients his body has been denied.

He does not remain idle for long, though. The thought-speak voice had announced itself a friend, and the name is familiar. A little spur of hope shoots through him when Ossanlin mentions Tara's name. If Tara is here... He begins sending out little ultrasonic chirps. <Myitt? Who is here?> He can sense other Yeerk bodies being added to the pool in the same unceremonious fashion, and he swims as fast as his small body can, trying to discern who is in this new prison with him.

In her haze of pain Efaen barely registers the thought-speak voices, let alone the spoken voices. The one word that does manage to stick, however, is the most important one. Demorph. She takes in a deep, shuddering breath, a wordless cry of agony escaping her as the fire seems to lace its way up the mangled leg. Demorph, Efaen. Focus. It takes all of her remaining mental strength, but eventually the changes begin.

Her natural talent at morphing helps the process along and soon the white hot pain is a dull throb, and then it disappears entirely as thin, strong Andalite legs replace those of her morph. Once the injury has been taken care of the rest of the demorph follows quickly, and she backs away from the group so that she will not harm them with her tail as it emerges.

When the morph is finally complete she stands there, all four of her eyes focused forward, uneasy and uncertain what to say. Now healed, the thought-speak voices come back to her and she blinks her main eyes in slow surprise. <Prince Ossanlin,> she says, turning one stalk to face him as he works on the Yeerk pool. <If I knew you were responsible for this I may not have bothered trying to escape. You're not going to send me back again, are you?>

Claxter caught what Terenia said, but did nothing. The last time he had killed someone in front of Ossanlin, he had been reprimanded. Though it would be quite easy for him to whip his tail and send her head rolling on the floor. That wouldn't really accomplish anything good at the moment though. Her allies were armed, and would surely react negatively to her death. <Too bad Enorryma didn't just leave you where you were, filth.> He said.

<You only went there in the first place because you wanted to, Efaen.> He said. He couldn't say Ossanlin would definitely not send her back, though he wasn't sure there was any "back" to go to. <If you didn't want to go back, why would you try to escape with rebels in the first place? Surely you didn't think we were Imperials, and that would be better than being with the rebels or on the homeworld.>

Terenia stiffens at Claxter's words, her hand tightening in Daniel's as she halts her progression out of the room. Slowly, she turns to face him, fresh tears tracking down her face. For a long moment she says nothing, though it is clear from her expression that she has more than a few things to say to the young Andalite warrior. In the end, though, she just drops her gaze. "She should have," she says quietly, a tremble running through her.

Efaen turns her attention to Claxter. <Not back with the rebels,> she says blandly. <I do not want to go back to the Andalites. I thought this mission was being carried out by rebels. If I knew Andalites had been involved...> She returns her attention to Ossanlin. <If it's true that you defected, you can't alert the Electorate to my presence here, right? Right?>
