As soon as I heard those two words, 'combat morph', my eyes lit up. This was what it was all about! I had always secretly yearned for a life more exciting than this- go to school, live a mundane life. Sure, when I was practising my gymnastics there was that surge of adrenalin when I flew through the air mid-flip or dismounted the balance beam...in fact, I doubt that from now on I would ever enjoy it again. I'd been an eagle, achieving real flight. I hadn't experienced the thrill of diving through the air like they did on those nature documentaries to catch prey, but...I could now. And fighting...with shining eyes, I turned to Ax.
"Thanks for the advice." He really did seem calm and knowledgeable. "Really, thanks." I tried to show my sincerity. It might have been partly down to his suggestion of combat, but I felt grateful. "Without your advice, I don't know how we'd do this all." Then I turned to Sam and Cassie, unable to control the the slightly bloodthirsty look on my face, "So where do we get combat morphs?" I was already thinking about it. The power...I could get a lion, with its majestic mane and lacerating claws...a bear with enough power to kill with one blow of its paw...But why limit my options? I wanted to look around, to really think about what I was going to be to kick alien butt.
